DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Pathfinding / hatches / stairs

Hi all! I have a question for anyone who encountered pathfinding bugs.
I dug an area for farming with downward stairs leading to hall, then built hatches over stairs (for drainage) and floodgates - a common set-up, I believe:
My problems arise when I start linking floodgates and hatches to levers. I have tried several times:
- hatches first. After first hatch is connected, second one is 'inaccessible', linkage suspended, dwarves do not go to the farming area anymore, not even for mining.
- floodgates first. After a mechanism is connected to the first floodgate, others become 'inaccessible', dwarves suspend construction and do not go to the farming area anymore.
- one hatch first, then pulling lever to open it, then try to link second hatch - same result.
No burrows, saving/loading did not help.
This is my third fort with the same problem. Frankly, I am a little bit tired of losing young forts to pathfinding =) Can anyone help with a solution to current situation, or the only choice left for me is bucket brigade irrigation now?
Thanks, and have a good day =)
