DF is most certainly the most evil game yet created. It strikes me as hilarious that you'd play DF over Bioshock 2. But I understand why you are. I recently bought Borderlands and played a bit of it, then found DF and since then I haven't touched my Xbox 360. It serves as a testament to the godliness of DF.

I had a question/concern about DF.

After looking at different DF threads in random forums here and there, I saw a bunch of people discussing how the game is transitioning into 3D. I for one would hate this, as it would probably take a government supercomputer to display EVERYTHING that is going on in DF were it to be made into a fully 3D game. Those of us without a couple grand to drop on ridiculous beast of a computer would be out of luck. Is this going to happen? I understand that many prefer the ASCII, and the different graphical tilesets are great too. But fully 3D? Crazy thought.

I know there are 3D visualizers in existence. I guess my concern is that development would pour completely into a 3D version, and the older ASCII versions would be left in the dust, effectively alienating us poor people with standard computers. Is development going to stop on the ASCII version?

Forgive me, I don't have much time at the moment to surf the forums and try and find an answer to this, and I didn't see anything regarding it on the development page. Can anyone clarify for me? Please and thank you!

Thanks for a quick reply! Im relatively new to DF yet, so im gettin a foothold in vanilla before moving on to mods. I tried to play with ASCII, but my eyes were burning a bit too much    

I would just like to start off by stating the obvious: DF is the best game of all time. I'm sure all of you are gleefully aware of this.

The true reason for this topic is simple, to express thanks for all the hard work that is put into this game by the DevTeam. Your work is genius, and I for one appreciate it.

My friends and I used to sit around and dream up games that only had half as much detail as DF. We would discuss what it would be like to kind-of live another life in a video game. Although you are only controlling the actions of the dwarfs and not directly controlling them, I feel that DF comes the closest any game has come before to truly being another world inside your computer. Obviously, there have been many greats, (the Ultima series and various roguelikes come to mind), but come on. DF is king. I've recommended this game to many people, and I will continue to do so. It's something I believe everyone should get the opportunity to try, even if 95% of people quit within an hour of play. 

Lastly, the community for this game is outstanding. The learning curve for this game is obviously a brick wall for some, and it's great to have so many helpful people out there that are willing to answer questions.

Anyway, I just wanted to put my thoughts out there. DF is teh 1337!!!!!!!!11
