Fortresssparks was made of a glowing material, right?
See if we can make it glow more.

But if that's our daily dose, then where will you get stuff for tomorrow? I think you just summed up all of Dark's art that's not in this thread.

So... our knife turned into a band around our arm?

And the previous artefact was an indestructible bracelet?

Mad science time! See if this bracelet will turn into a shield of sorts :D

It's not necessarily -cursed-, per se. It just returns to us. And cleans water.

It seems like we won't be able to put it away easily. Covering both our wrist and the knife might work.. as long as whatever material we use for cover doesn't touch the blade. Think of the kind of cloth one would wrap a broken arm in, hanging from the neck. In dutch, it's a mitella. In english, an esmarch bandage.. We could feign having a broken arm.

Or, since it's magic and we seem to be attuned to various magical things anyway.. See if you can safely toggle off the magic, by speaking to whatever spirit may possess it. Or move the whole blade to your mindscape, held afloat the same way as the guardian swords. It is a fricking purifying boomerang knife of atom-splitting sharpness. This idea is not too strange to work.
Personally, I'd reason that the magic is most likely the thing giving this knife its shape, sharpness and other qualities. It most likely is absolutely nothing without said magic. So, I would try to loosen its physical form and turn it into a magical orb to store somewhere. Preferably a non-physical orb attached loosely to my lower arm, but a physical marble-type thing could also work.. just put it in a pocket or net or something.

Powpow, the cloth would still be pushed onto the edge. And since said edge easily cuts through solid rock. Rock that's been heated for years, I think that makes it even stronger.

A plan for the storage of this knife. Take a knife-sized block of stone, stab the knife into it down to the hilt (which'll keep it from going in any further), then wrap some leather bands around the stone block and the back of the knife's guard if it has one, otherwise wrap it the other way, around the handle and the side of the block the knife's in. Either way, stop it from moving as much as possible.
It's either that, or using more of the metal to make a scabbard. We probably don't have the skill for that.
We could also cover the glow by coating it in sticky grime or black oil, but that probably drips right off.

.. Did the hammer we used to forge it get damaged much? We could try stabbing the knife into the probably-metal head of the thing.. see if that offers any protection. Please dear gods of blood and darkness, let it not be gold or a similarly-useless metal...

Also, try asking the goblins for help.

This would be nice. If it got on the suggestions list, I would vote for it.

Steam? That's not dwarven enough for our mine carts anyway.

We'll tame dragons and tie them in front of our carts. Burn clean the path to the mines of the dwarves! Show our might to the elven scum!

So.. ignoring enemies is affected by personality and distance to the monster, perhaps?

Or the extra migrants could be put to good use making cheese to go with the whine.

Uncalled for.

Sure, but no more than the tone of the complaint.

And its not like the game is getting ignored, there are simply other priorities or more game-breaking bugs that need fixing first. I guess in the end you get what you pay for, right?
You get what unspecified people pay for, possibly including yourself. This game is fueled by donations.. Either way, your post inspired me to send some cash Toady's way: exactly as much as I've often paid for blockbuster games, only to be let down by unimaginative stories and poor gameplay. Let's hope Toady's work of art remains the exception to the rule for many more years.

Fortresssparks.

Seems like we're turning into a real channeler now. Practise with your mental link, ask the goblins how such artefacts are usually named. They probably won't know, but you can always ask them for a suggestion.

See if you can quickly modify the sensory department to also have some way to speak with you, while awake.. but only if you open up the channel or whatever it is. No way to speak back is necessary, just write down stuff somewhere and they'll see it since they're in the freaking sensory department.

Ask the shaman if he can give any pointers on increasing said power. Also, curing poisons? You were waking up at that part the last time.
