Your motherboard will change everything to the lowest common denominator, underutilizing anything you stick in that's better than what you have, possibly with a bit of instability mixed in. But it will likely only do this if you fiddle a bit manually in the BIOS. It may not even recognize the new RAM if you just plug it in and boot up. Check your motherboard manual.

Sean Murray has barely begun to scratch the surface of the original trailer. Sean is trying to repair his legacy and credibility so he can sell other games. The newest update was hard locking consoles so development continues to be rushed. Little has been learned.

Now back to Cube World
Once Cube World hits it sounds like it's straight up a full release. No alpha or beta but Wollay will continue to fiddle with it. About the only thing he hid was crippling depression.

Are any of the games in the current Humble Bundle good? I wasn't a fan of usually-fruitless grind in Borderlands, or the...I guess Pillars of Eternity didn't feel like I could do anything?

I'm not feeling it with that bundle. Buy at the Cat Quest level, maybe.

There's nothing you can do about button presses and analog sticks. They all wear eventually. Get a hard case if you travel.

What game genre's are you interested in?

5 of the 20 projects that got the most funding on Kickstarter were board games. Only 2 are video games. Board games may be a niche hobby, but Kickstarter projects is a big part of that hobby because of all the models and doodads that need to be made, and knowing how many of those you'll need to make before selling the game is useful information.

Also, the funding goal for the crowdfunding campaign was literally $1. If Gearbox/Blackbird was expecting to fully fund the game through crowdfunding, they'd probably have put in a dollar amount that had been budgeted in some capacity.

It's a preorder system. An interest free loan. A few board games from big publishers have done this too with the $1 goal. It was not looked upon with respect.

$300,000 in 24 hours is a bad sign. I've seen multiple board games at lower price points (an incredibly niche hobby) get crowdfunded bigger/faster. Few people want to pay for another space game that's unreleased. Plus some Homeworld mobile? Eff off. Gearbox could be throwing money straight at this and going through normal AAA channels.

It's largely looking like an up-res so they can sell the same game again. We'll see....

You have to pay for the ATM and Vending Machine, which are not exactly cosmetic.

Don't bother with Watch Dogs. I think 2 got old faster than 1 did. Both get boring pretty quick.

my purchase decision hinges on two factors: preorder top tier bonus needs to come with 'all future expansion too', because this sounds like just a cashgrab to fuck with their free dlc commitment and dlc + multiplayer means you'll be hostage of future packs to play with other people, plus first rate mod support, none of the curse/ckan/download shit out of forums shenanigans.

Only small devs tend to offer future expansions/patches for free. At the higher price point they'll have a day 0 pass for $30+. Modders will go all in, forcing mod users to buy everything, even the cosmetics. We've seen this time and time and time again.

So I showed my friends the trailers and a lot of them are pretty worried. Apparently they're still using the Unity engine and they're planning on charging 60 dollars for it. I don't mind paying the price as long as it's polished enough and there's a complete game but if they're still on Unity I have my doubts.

My friends also strongly believe that the game is going to be an Epic exclusive because Take 2 owns the people making the game. They also suspect that the game is going to get put up on Steam with a store page and everything only to get taken off a few months before launch to become the Epic exclusive, a sort of bait and switch.

But, why, what would they gain except bad press and a high chance of the community turning on them? Besides, the master post claims it'll be out on all storefronts.

Any press is good press.

Kerbal Space Program is 75% off for the base game on Steam. 65% off the complete edition. Likely going along with the announcement of the sequel.

Or they'll have modders compete to get in officially with microtransactions. Ooof. I hope not but that's the way it could go. Hopefully they don't try to go head to head with Star Citizen or something.

For an entirely digital product, DRM makes for exclusivity no matter what the hardware is. You're stuck to particular digital stores that carry the product, much like consoles. If nobody ports it to another store then you're stuck. If nobody makes it for Mac or Linux, you're stuck. If it's DRM-free, you're less stuck but still limited to a particular OS, completely independent of hardware. We can go into how some software only works on x64 or x86 chipsets if you like, but let's not. I'm not defending exclusivity, just pointing out that it is exclusive in much the same way as consoles.

Carry on.
