question: Can you cut down trees with the axe you make? :) In adventure mode that is!

Toady will get there eventually.

I can confirm an Intel chipset will have issues. I have a computer (ASUS 1215N) with Optimus (ION2) and the Intel fails while the Nvidia succeeds.

But 2 Z levels will occasionally off the falling dwarf.

It serves him/her right for not going to the doctor when the doctor mailed them those little postcards.

I was thinking of adding those flies whose name escape me for the moment, which lay maggots in your skin and cause painful boils?

Botfly?

I don't believe werewolves can use doors, if that helps.
Fixed for next Tomi's Tunings release.

What's the quick fix so we can do this manually?

infdev, and even alpha, was $13 US and that's about all it was worth. I never would have bought if it had been $20+.
Perhaps not you, but others would have. And besides, it could have been worse.

"The first public alpha of Minecraft will cost: 599$ USD."

Sales would have been abysmal at $20+.

Good luck to him, and to be frank, he could have milked this baby for a hell of a lot more than he has.

You're not kidding. Heck, he could have set the game itself up to 30USD for open beta. I have seen that happen a lot with relatively newer developers that think they've got an innovative project. Maybe he could have set it even higher. But no, it'll be a twenty dollar open beta. Considering they have a super prominent brand, I would not be surprised if the influx of money continues to flow at a similar weight.

DF Modding / Re: Using embark anywhere

There's a new one, Just Embark.
I haven't tried it yet though, so, I can't really guarentee anything.

Just_embark works on .18

How to make a creature non-frightening: Drop magma on it.

Unless it's immune to magma, in which case it will always be frightening.

It feels funny, going into beta, when the Alpha we're on is basically fully playable with loads of features.
It's a lot like DF. I bet no one here thinks about how we're in an Alpha stage when a new release comes out giving our adventurers the ability to timewarp and divide by zero.
Until you hit a bug in dividing by zero, and your computer explodes.

No, it's still Alpha. There's so much that doesn't work.

DF Modding / Re: Changing Embark Points
« on: December 11, 2010, 02:13:51 pm »
Hey all

I know this is... well, cheating but i was hoping to change the embark points that are allocated at the beginning. I've changed the value in the world_gen document but this hasn't changed anything.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

P.s. I am running the v0.31.18, with no mods or tilesets.
the world_gen document determines how the "advanced parameters" are decided during worldgen. If you have already genned the world, then you can't change it without using Cheat Engine or something similar. If you haven't, you possibly are getting the preset wrong, or you set the Embark Points above it's maximum of 10,000

CheatEngine or ArtMoney work well. Once you are in the embark screen and allocating points, points are a 2 byte integer. The initial search will yield several hundred hits. The second refinement will yield 2, at least in ArtMoney.

I just wanted to put that info in there for anyone that needs it.

Explanation: A baker's dozen of ambushes all came on to the map at once, about 4 Illithid squads, 4 Dusk Elf squads and 5 Demon squads, combined with the current Ezrakim Elf siege they started a nice bloodbath at my gate.

This is what happens when you don't make appointments. Barbaric!

The alpha version of Minecraft with survival mode seems pretty cool and freeform.  You have to build a shelter to hide from the monsters that spawn at night and collect resources in order to build tools and stuff.  I'm thinking of buying that actually.

Not complex or deep. It could be, but it's not as of this minute.
