While you didn't really wait and think before eating the fish, this time you decide to be more cautious.
This is an unknown world with unknown animals and who knows what surprises awaits you - culinary or otherwise.

You volunteer and try a bite of each animal.
The birds appear to be edible. They taste almost like chicken, but a little sweeter.
The big rodent's meat became dry rather quickly and is very tough to eat. It tastes somewhat like a very bland kind of beef.
The small rodent doesn't have a lot of meat on it, but it is very tender and juicy and tastes wonderful. If you had to compare it, you would say turkey comes closest.
You save the bug meat for last. It tastes... weird, but not that bad. It is kinda slimy and very soft, you almost don't need to chew it.
From what you can tell, all four are edible. You'll find out later if there are any negative effects, but for now it seems save to eat - and even if you can't be sure yet, you need to eat something.

Simon and Napoleon are relieved and begin to feast. All on all, you miss some spices or herbs, but you are sure you will find some sooner or later.
Simon even tries the bug meat and likes it, while Napoleon prefers to avoid it. "Never ever will I eat flesh from a bug! Just looking at that slimy goo makes me retch..."

Now that you had lunch, you think about what you will do in the afternoon.
You could explore the cave, or try and set up some kind of shelter, in case it starts raining suddenly. And who knows what that will do to you.

What are your plans?

You decide to spend the morning exploring your surroundings more thoroughly.

You went North and found a clay pit with weird, pretty big bugs living in it.
They are almost white in color, about as big as a duck and have heads like shovels with wich they dig through the clay dirt, searching for smaller insects to eat.
You wonder if there are other insects that large...
You bring back one of them. They don't seem to be agressive and don't seem to mind you picking them up at all.

Simon and Napoleon went further into the forest, carrying some improvised wooden spears with them.
They went as far as the mountains and found a cave entrance. They only explored the first few meters but didn't dare to go deeper.
They didn't encounter any larger animals, but managed to hunt down some smaller ones.

-A couple birds, about 30cm big. They are dark gray and fly through swarms of what seems to be mosquitos, using their trumpet-like bills to catch as many of them as they can.
-A rodent as large as a dachshund, looking like a mix between a ferret and a horse. They surprised it when it was digging for roots underneath a bush. It's fur has a golden color.
-Another, smaller rodent, looking kinda like a black and very fat squirrel.

At noon, you are all back at the camp, roasting your meat.
The bug has surprisingly much meat on it and it doesn't look too bad.

"Is that a bug?" Simon asks you.
"A pretty big one, yes. I wonder if it is edible..." you answer.
"Well, this fat squirrel here at least smells tasty. I can't wait to try it!" he responds.

While you and Simon prepare the food, Napoleon draws a map into the dirt.

Do you eat the bug? Do you eat the other animals? What are your next plans?

You nod towards Simon and then towards the direction you heard the snap.
"Pssht, something's nearby. Let's better head back." you whisper.
The two of you start heading out of the forest. You only stayed at the outskirts, but who knows what lives in this strange world?

A few minutes later, you arrive back at the spot you woke up.
Napoleon prepared the fishes by skewering them onto the improvised spears and while he's setting up the firewood,
you use a short stick and rub it along a broader piece, generating wood dust and eventually heating it up enough to light the tinder.

You gather around the cozy fire, holding the fishes into the flames, and talk about the events of the day.

"So... does anyone of you know how we ended up here?" you ask.
"I am just as confused as you are. All I know that we should all be dead but somehow are not." Napoleon responds.
"I remember waking up in a strange metal room. There were other people, more than just us three." you say.
"I don't recall anything like that... but I think it's more important what's ahead of us. Are we stuck here? And where is here? I've never heard of blue grass before." Simon adds.

After that, you grow silent, each lost in their own thoughts.
After you finished your share of the meal, you say: "Well gentlemen, I think we should get some rest for now. Who knows what awaits us tomorrow."

The other two agree and you lie down, trying to find some sleep.

The night goes by uneventful.

The warm light of the morning sun wakes you up. You stand up and stretch before taking a look around.
Nothing has changed since yesterday. It seems to be pretty peaceful around here at the moment.

What do you do now?

The most logical thing to do would be to start a fire, so you get to doing exactly that.
While Napoleon prepares the caught fishes as good as he can, you and Simon gather some firewood and tinder in the forest.

Just as both of you prepare to head back with your hands full of wood, you hear a twig snapping to your left.
Alarmed, you turn your head and try to see what made the sound, but it's already quite dark and the trees make it impossible to see further than a few meters.

What do you do?

Without hesitating you shout out to Simon and Napoleon: "Get out of the water! There is another one!".
At the same time, you throw your improvised fishing spear at the shadow, even though you are not convinced it would even slow the beast down.
Your spear hits the shadow and disappears into the water, the shadow weirdly convulsing at the spot it must have been hit.

Simon reacts quickly and jumps towards the river bank, but Napoleon is too slow.
The shadow closes the distance in a matter of seconds and...

...darts right through him?

You watch dumbfounded for a moment before realization hits you.
It's not one big fish - it's a school of fishes!
You facepalm as you watch the school flow around Napoleon. His own shocked look slowly turns to understanding and then amusement as he begins to laugh.
"So that is the big bad river monster! I really thought this was it. There I get a miraculous second chance when I should be dead and I waste it by getting eaten by a fish! Ha!",
You and Simon grin and help him out of the water.

The fishes are gone, only one stayed behind. You really did hit with your spear. It is floating on the water, sticking out of a decently sized fish.
Together with the few fishes Simon and Napoleon caught, this should make for a nice dinner.

By now, the sun is almost gone. What do you do?

Cautiously, Napolčon breaks some branches off the first tree he reaches.
The wood is surprisingly flexible but should be good enough as weapon material for now.
This kind of tree seems to be the only one growing here, but he is pretty sure he saw different trees deeper inside the forest when he was looking from further away.
He gathers a few sticks pointy enough to try and go spearfishing with them and heads back to you and Simón.

Meanwhile, you and Simón are pretty sure that the water is safe and so the both of you are standing in hip-deep water, trying to catch fish with your bare hands.
Just as Napoléon approaches with the sticks, you glimpse the shadow of something large a few meters away under the water.
Alarmed, you pull yourself and Simňn out of the water - just in time to see a large fish, at least 4 meter in length and a mouth large enough to swallow you whole,
dash through the water where you were just standing.

Apparently the river isn't as harmless as you thought, and the three of you decide to take better care in these surroundings from now on.

While the size of the fish makes it a danger, it also means that it can't turn around in the river and come back, so you might be able to go spearfishing for a while before it comes back or another one decides to visit and so you do.

You agree on yourself staying out of the water and watching for anything unusual while Simon and Napoleon try their best to get you something for dinner.

The sun slowly begins to set as you are busy hunting for food - something you would have never thought you'd had to do in your life.

Lost in thought, you suddenly see another shadow, alarmingly close, dashing through the water.
There is barely time to warn the other two!

What do you do?

"Gentlemen, I think it would be a good idea to find out if the water in that river is actually drinkable." you tell the other two while ripping out some of the weird, blue grass.
>What matter of foliage is this?!?< you think to yourself.

"Good idea, George.", Simňn replies. "I'm going to give it a taste!"
Meanwhile Napolčon is already heading towards the trees, calling towards you "I'm going to check the trees. They don't look too different from our oaks back home."

"Take care! Who knows who or what might lurk nearby..." you tell them before following Simón to the river.

The river looks fine enough. It's about five meters wide and one and a half meters deep in the middle if you had to guess.
The current doesn't seem too strong and you think you saw the shadow of some kind of fish darting by.
Simňn steps into the water and takes a cautious sip.

You wait a minute and then another minute.

...

After five minutes of silence, he is still standing and looking healthy and you decide it's drinkable enough.
You bow down and take a sip, enjoying the cool, fresh feeling of the water running down your throat.
You really needed that!

You think about what you should do next.

After thinking about it for a while, you are pretty sure that you are George Washington, former and first president of the United States.
The last thing you clearly remember is how you were lying in your bed after a very bad sickness. Martha was sitting with you - oh, beautiful Martha.
Her face is the last thing you see before...
Before what?

You have vage memories of metal walls and beeping sounds, but other than that, you have no idea what the hell happened and how you got here.
You don't feel sick anymore -  or old.
Your body feels like you were in your thirties again!

You turn back to your two companions and tell them: "I am George Washington. May I ask who I have the pleasure with?"

One of them, a Spanish looking man, looks at you surprised: "George Washington? President George Washington? I've heard about you. We both fought for independance of our countries! I am..."
He clears his throat and takes a long breath before continuing: "Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolívar Palacios Ponte y Blanco. But you can call min Simňn."
That said, he looks around before asking: "My friend, do you know where we are? I remember having tuberculosis. I was supposed to die! Is this paradise?"
Clearly confused, the seemingly young man, looking like he's only in his twenties, turns away to take in his surroundings, trying to find anything familiar.

The other person takes their chance to introduce themselves: "Mister President, it's a pleasure to meet you! I am Napolčon Bonaparte. Former ruler of France."
He looks a bit arrogant, but otherwise just as confused as you and Simňn.
"As far as I know, you died more than twenty years ago. I don't know how, but you look pretty alive to me. I think I should be dead as well. Those damn Britains held me prisoner under horrible conditions on some god-forsaken island."

"Ah yes, the British... I know very well what they are capable of - and what not." you respond with a wink.
He lets out a laughter before abruptly turning to your other companion. "Hey, Simňn! Found anything?"
"No, not really. I have no idea where we are. Do you have any idea, George?"

Well, do you? Maybe you should look around for a bit as well.
Your direct surroundings include a few strange trees to the South, a small river to the West and blue grass almost as far as the eye can see to the North and East, with some mountains in the distance to the East.

What do you do?

While you indeed feel energized and refreshed, your memory doesn't seem to benefit from that yet.
You try to think of who you are, but you are not quite sure yet, as if your thoughts have to awake on their own, wading through a thick mist inside your head.
You keep thinking about it for a bit longer.

Darkness...
This is the only thing you see.
Are you dreaming? Are you dead?

Voices...
That probably means you live and are conscious.
You can't make out a single word, but it sounds wrong, somehow.
How they talk. You've never heard anything like it.

Black turns to gray...

Beeping, humming, rattling. And the voices. You don't understand what they are saying.

You try to open your eyes and are rewarded by a bright light, making your head hurt.
You close them.
You open them again.
A few more tries and you manage to keep them open and take in your surroundings.
Not that they make any sense...

The light isn't that bright. Your eyes just must have been closed for a long time.
Blank metal walls, tables with tools you can't name around you.
People - too tall and too thin - are standing nearby and talking in that strange - in that somehow wrong - language.
There are more beds with more people.
There is a door with a panel next to it.
There is a machine next to you. It's producing the sounds. The beeping, the humming, the rattling.

The strange people turn towards you, watch you.
You just stare back as one of them shakes their head.
They say something you don't understand.

You feel a prick in your neck.

The voices become silent...

The world disappears...

Darkness...

...

...

...

Soft wind on your skin. That's the first thing you feel.
You can hear it, together with twittering birds and creaking wood.
You feel awake, energized, as if you have slept better than ever in your life.

You open your eyes.
The sky looks different. Not blue. Teal.

Are you dreaming? Are you dead?
You have a slight feeling of déjŕ vu.

You sit up and look around.
The grass around you is blue.
There are two other people lying beside you.
They seem to be waking up as well.
You ask them where you are. They tell you they don't know.
You ask them who they are.

Who are they? And who are you?

Nookrium played it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaD7wTMtxuc).
It looks okay. Nothing special. Wouldn't buy it myself, but might be interesting to some.

The exclusivity contract end at some point. I can wait a year or two. Not gonna install another launcher for just one game.
I'm glad I pre-ordered Metro Exodus on Steam ;)

Can't really judge since I've been not that active here recently. I'd say 2/10, I'm sure I've seen the name before and they seem to do host forum games, which is always a good thing.

Minecraft (Project Ozone 3) and Metro Exodus.

Hmm... there are post-apocalyptic Minecraft mods, so I guess it is kinda a thing.
