Declare I guess?

The increasing vibrating sound turns out to be some digging drone. One of the soldiers barely has time to react and stumbles down the slope as he jumps back out of reflex. The surrounding soldiers turn around to see what's happening.

Aroth managed to get the device back under control and stored it in the chest. The soldier watching the robots jumps down from his rock, reporting "One of the mechanoids iis getting close! Its eyes are glowing red, I don't think it is friendly!".

"Get the guns, then." Aroth responds, and three soldiers switch their swords/pikes for energy-beam shooting guns from the chest.

"Do not let the mechanoids get too close to you. If they threaten to come even closer, attack."

Aroth also got his staff out of the chest. It helps him focus his energy, allowing him to deal a lot of damage.

Strict turn order in a game with randomly arriving players... You're kidding, right?

That's why I agreed to your suggestion in the last sentence. I also don't think this was supposed to be a FFA in the beginning, but I don't mind, it's fun.

Also:

Suddenly, several things happen.
The weird brick bots in the lower tunnel seem to be finished with whatever they were doing and start shooting randomly in all directions. Fortunately, their energy weapons don't seem to be too strong, the barrier should be able to withstand them for now.
The men guarding it fall back anyway, just to be sure.
That is when the ground to the East begins to slightly vibrate. The men guarding the Eastern tunnel are alterted, but don't know how to react yet.

At the same time, Aroth's device begins to shoot sparks. They seem to point to the West, so that must be where the rift is! Unfortunately, the device seems to have a problem, and the energy flowing out of it gets stronger. Aroth creates a shielding around the device to absorb the explosion that wil probably follow.

The elite soldier watching the mechanoids decides to climb the big rock and watches in surprise as one of the long-limbed robots suddenly falls down towards him.

Erm... do we following a rule that a person who made a turn should wait while at least two other players will post their moves until declaring again?

I think a real turn order would be the best way.. I'm kinda confused now, and I think some, including me, kinda passed a bit of time while others built whole elevators :P I guess at least waiting for 2 others, or maybe even 3, would make it less chaotic and confusing.

edit: Also calling dibs.

ps: what does declare mean? Declaring "war" on someone?
from what I can tell, it's meant basically to mean "I claim this turn, I will be posting my image once it is complete"

That makes sense. Well, I'll keep using dibs. Because.^^

Watching the weird brick creatures shooting lasers made the men slightly cautious and they decided to set up a mobile energy wall. The crystal will supply it for about half an hour, until then the lower tunnel was secure.

In the cave above them, the rest of the group moved further into the cave, only two of them guarding the tunnel they came from.
Aroth took some device from the chest and activated it. Someone trained in its usage, like Aroth, could make out energy fluctuations caused by open dimensional rifts and thus make out their position. The soldiers watch the mechanoids above them closely as he begins to stare into the glowing energy beam shooting between wires attached to the device intensely.

As the rest of the expedition enters the cave, they notice movement from above.
One elite soldier, accompanied by two pikemen, takes a closer look at what seems to be a bunch of mechanoids, while the other one peeks into the tunnel below, making out some kind of gate in the distance.

"Be cautious. We are not here to fight, but to investigate", Aroth tells his men.

so... there isn't any posting order? you just post whenever you feel like it?
I guess I have some work to do this evening, catching up with all that happened so far, lol.

Hello Straw. Sorry for the late answer, I did not expect anyone to reply anymore after a few days.
Right now I'm focused on too many other things and won't be able to work on this.
Maybe I will continue working on it some day, but not at the moment.

ps: Thanks for your suggestions anyway, I really didn't expect this anymore :D

Other Games / Re: Need a game for Local-multi with my kid

crud what is that game where everyone plays animals who have to go from Point A to Point B... and you create traps, barriers, and paths to it... and hope you are the only one alive at the end?

That is a good local multiplayer game.

I'm pretty sure there are far more than a hundred different tower defenses and other defense maps available for Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 2, but I guess that's not exactly what you meant ;)

@Ductape
It's not exactly trending I'm afraid, but you might want to take a look at Clonk Rage (or even one of the older games, they all have their charm).
It used to be shareware, but now it's freeware.

There's also OpenClonk, basically a sequel developed by fans of the old games, based on the published source code of Clonk Rage.

Aroth led his group through another dark tunnel of this seemingly endless cave network.
They came to investigate reports of dimensional breach, not to Tho, but to some other, unknown, dimension.
8 days ago, they started on their journey, and now, it seems, they've reached their target.

Since Aroth is an experienced energy user and trusted member of the Ministry of Dimensional Affairs, he has been given two elite soldiers alongside a handful of regular soldiers,
one of them steering a floating chest containing provisions, various measurement tools and additional weaponry, just in case.

Their objective is to locate the exact position of the portal and gather as much information about it as possible.
Even though the group is armed, they are not to engage in combat unless provoked.

Now, the tunnel finally opens into a large cavern, dimly lit from the open top.
Aroth lets his view wander through the cavern before he lets out a pleasant gurgling sound.

How's this?

Greatness, I would add some shading to the other tentacles and legs as well (on that brown thing).
Also, if you want to draw better curves (for those cracks around the portal for example), try zooming in. For me it's much easier to get decent curves done that way.
(I'm using Gimp, so I can zoom in pretty far, no idea what you are using and how well it works there)

Very welcome :)

Maybe needs some more tweaking on the horizontal line.
