Maybe your liaison is a demon or something. Check it's species.
I don't believe dwarves can have demon leaders
Something that you may want to check is where the actual liaison is
I've heard they can start a talk if they are within 3 squares of the mayor
no matter what it between them (but they still need to be in his office)

it depends how you define Fun.
You will eventually reach a breaking points where you will no longer be able to keep the fortress alive (and if you don't on what I assume is one of your first forts, congratulations)
Or you could actively seek the Fun, dig to the caverns or don't abuse cage traps, set limitations for yourself and your dwarves.
You'll find, once there is no longer the challenge of figuring the game out, there is only as much Fun as you make.

This is a known bug, I believe.  It has never happened to me, but sometimes the mountain will refill in like it was before you began digging.  The only pattern is that it tends to happen if you start on a previous fortress without actually reclaiming it.

Well, the main problem with this is that then you have one dwarf attempting to supply three jobs for the fortress.  Eventually you will get an excess of dwarves and a need will grow to fill jobs and you can't have the same guy hunting AND butchering AND tanning.  It may work for the initial 7, but I would advise you to create a permanent butcher and tanner by the first or second migrant wave.  Hunting is a pretty unstable profession; If there are no slaughterable creature on the map (let's say all you have is a bunch of ogres, whose meat cannot be eaten) the hunter will not be able to supply for your fortress and you want a few farm plots to be going constantly.  To be honest, the only thing I use hunters for is to cycle the creatures on the map quicker, rather than staring at the same gophers for 15 minutes.  Farming is my main form of food production.

if he dies in battle, he will just act as a martyr and encourage the rest of the goblins
then display his cage in your meeting area

that's why I usually do sinister embarks, because ogres and wolves are more useful.

no dungeon masters means no exotic friends, unfortunately, so they're all as wild as they can be
I generally just systematically slaughter the goblins by tossing them into my volcano, but I might save them for the next caravan
