The botania and blood magic parts don't need you to go far into those mods, the hardest part would be killing the guy in the tower which I think is needed to open the dark one quest line and get the self sacrifice dagger. You don't need to upgrade the altar. The Botania part can be done with items you should already know where to find. The infusion altar is the most involved bit.

The recipe for livingmoss has been changed in this pack. No mossy cobble involved. You do, however, need an infusion altar, a blood altar, and a mana pool, so its pretty late game.

Ardite and Cobalt are found under the volano, IIRC beneath the caldera.

The sword is pretty simple. Longsword or Rapier, thaumium handle for a modifier and durability, paper crossguard for another modifier, and your best metal for the blade. Add lots of quartz for damage and, later, livingmoss for self repair. Also, throw on some Lapis for looting. You currently have iron, upgrade to oureclase when you get it, steel is also easy but I think oureclase does more damage.

For ranged weapons, I prefer crossbows since they fire instantly and then reload, where a bow is loaded and then fired. Blue slime is one of the best crossbow limbs, and is available as soon as you run into a blue slime. For mods, livingmoss as always and then redstone till you get to the cap of 0.25 second draw speed. For bolts, I use blue slime rods tipped with the best metal I can get. My current ones are manyullyn tipped with slime fletchings, giving a stack size of 154 and enough damage to destroy a taint spawner in a few shots.  As you level them up and get modifier slots, livingmoss works to regenerate ammo and then quartz for more damage.

Go for concrete huts. I did on my first run and got 53 paragon at around year 1700.

No, but in theory you could write a world generator that uses a high res heightmap and biome map to generate the parts of the Earth that people actually wanted to play on. I'm not sure how well minecraft currently handles huge distances from spawn, but a practical implementation would probably center the world at a chosen site and those who want to travel to distant locations can put up with whatever artifacts that causes.

You can use multiMC to have multiple versions of the modpack installed side by side, so at least you can do your LP and play on the server while waiting for a fix.

One other thing - any tips on keeping my wand charged? I haven't gotten that far in the LP, but in my other single-player game, my wand is constantly running out of vis. Especially water. For some reason I can never find enough water vis, and killing mobs doesn't even seem to drop it very often. I know I can search the world for nodes and drain them, but that gets really tedious, really fast.

Aquatic mobs should drop aquatic vis. Nodes found over water should have Aqua more often, I think one of the pair between swamp delta and the underwater lab has a useful amount. Failing that, theres a bunch on the ice north of dome gamma. Primal charms will give you a point of a random aspect every few seconds. Its not enough to be really useful unless you fill half your inventory with them, though.

Further into the game, the node in a jar research lets you relocate nodes, and eventually you can energize a node and build a vis charging relay, which will recharge a want at up to 1 vis per second.

My whole point has been that actual caseless ammo doesn't use wads or shotcups.
Suppose it's more of a technical issue than anything. Considering the thread, I see nothing unusual about that. ;)

The important part of caseless is that the whole round is either vaporized or leaves the barrel. That means you don't need to eject the spent round, allowing for a simpler mechanism and faster rates of fire, if we can find materials that can stand the heat without the casing removing most of it.

Adding a wad doesn't change that.

I think the only thing you can do is get to one of the easier to find teleporters and rebuild your waypoint list by hand. Unless you mean you lost access to the other teleporters, in which case someone could give you the coordinates.

Watch out if you do install Optifine - after installing it, I started to get normal mobs spawning in cleared areas that had previously been peaceful. Mob griefing is turned off so creepers can't actually wreck things, but I still lost a couple cows before I got everything lit properly. Also, there are many more slimes on the surface, and the thaumic slimes can shoot new slimes through the dome wall. Good for getting the 6 slime in a bucket for the paranormalist, bad for just about everything else.

I'm not sure why Optifine would change the spawning rules but I didn't install anything else at the same time.

Vein miner?

Factorio. Blightfall.

So, factorio, but in a more hostile environment and the character forced to learn the magic used by the former inhabitants of the planet and incorporate it into his factory to finally overcome the blight.

I wonder if factorio is moddable enough to add enough of thaumcraft to make this work?

You can mine in tainted land easily enough. The taint won't get in if you don't get to close to a cave, and nothing seems to spawn if you keep the mine clear and we'll lit.

Anyone seen vanilla mobs underground? I spend a lot of time mining and never saw any, but I suppose there may have been other reasons for that.

Dungeon spawners exist and work as normal, so you can find zombies, skeletons and spiders.  Other than that, there are no untainted areas large enough for them to spawn, though you may see the occasional Furious zombie in an eerie biome.

Modpack on the technical launcher. Entire world is tainted and we have to fix it. Use the latest version, I don't think anything broke on that update.
