Other Games / Re: HL2 Advice required. Sooner the better.

Do you really consider those part of the gameplay? I certainly don't. Better to either properly integrate the gameplay and narrative or not at all, rather than do it half-baked.

It's even worse when it comes to HL1, wherein 99% of the time there is essentially nothing to do during said encounters (apologies for additional derail, but I was playing Unreal recently and I can never help myself being annoyed about HL1's overshadowing hype).

Yeah, I do. Those scenes further the plot and I am genuinely interested in hearing what the character have to say, there is good voice acting, and the animation is nice.I'm also not stuck to one spot in the ground where I am forced to sit and listen, I really hate that. What do you consider to be a successful integration of gameplay and narrative? Audio logs? Text-terminals? Both of those things are completely ignorable, and breaking up the action to read a couple pages of text is extremely boring.

In the original half-life, yeah, there wasn't much to do within the environment where you got locked down, but really, where that happened was in the beginning, before all hell broke loose. Where it makes sense.

Not by my definition of Cutscene, The only one in Half-Life 2 is perhaps when the G-man is speaking to you.

Those are what I'd consider scripted encounters, and actually, theres usually things you can do within the area. I actually like the early lab area, theres lots of really nice environmental details there.

Life Advice / Re: Puberty: How hard is it?
« on: August 19, 2010, 10:29:53 am »
I really didn't have a problem with puberty. The voice change was subtle, I never myself noticed a difference, other people did. I got taller, I got more hair. I did sometimes feel the urge to bang everything in sight, but I kept myself under control. I'd say the only bad part was the itchiness of new hair growth. Well, Shaving can also be a pain.

I guess I got lucky.

HL2 has achievements now?  Glad I got it at launch so I could enjoy the game without worrying about trying to do all sorts of stupid crap for a little icon to appear on my hud.  Or just having the little icon appear on my HUD whenever I reach a new level, ruining any atmosphere the cutscene I was currently watching might have had.

Now I can go through and do all that stupid crap as an actual expansion of the gameplay rather than a hindrance of the experience.

Cutscenes? In my Half-Life?

What the hell are you talking about.

Just wondering if anyone has a creeper face sprite lying around.

Uh, you do, in your minecraft.jar

Just open it up with winrar or 7-zip. The whole skin is in the mob folder.

It's true, I once had a round of sheer awesomeness. However, I've not since. Admins do tend to fuck shit up, and I've got to say, I can't stand Maxdax (What is he like 12?) he's a huge baby.

I really hope they're releasing this on the PC as well. This sort of game usually works better on a PC platform.

That is honestly my biggest concern. Games like this do lend themselves to the PC, and not to consoles. I've been waiting for the next real god game since the last Black and White. Looks promising, but that's going to be a tender issue.

Notch should ask for logs from the guys wiki for the vandels and then ban then IP ban them from his site/game/remove their account.
Raiding's not good, mkay?

I'm pretty sure it'd be Illegal for him to revoke their access to the game, even if he refunded them. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if I was in Notch's position I couldn't put up with half the shit that the Minecraft community does.

I too, have enjoyed this game.

I've always wanted to see a large studio develop a game which focuses on those sort of mechanics.

I can't honestly see a problem. It's a clone, sure, but it has it's own design goals.

It is also open-source and nobody is paying the developer money.

It's like paying half price for a sandwich and then getting two! They're being retarded as hell.

My thoughts exactly.

I haven't seen anyone mention Link's Awakening. Anyone else played it? It'll always hold a special place in my heart, as it was the first LoZ game I played.

I loved Links Awakening. Though I know a lot of people actually never played it.

For me it is:
1. Link to the Past
2. Ocarina of Time
3. Links Awakening
4. Majoras Mask
5. Oracle of Ages/Seasons
6. Windwaker
7. Twilight Princess
8. Minish Cap

I've yet to finish Twilight Princess, but what I have played of it (Around 20 hours). I haven't really liked. Minish Cap was alright, but far too short for my liking. I have yet to play Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass.

A Link To The Past was my first Zelda game. It's also my favorite.

I played it at a very young age, and spent many hours fucking with chickens.

Ahhhh memories!

So I take it I'm the only one who actually likes the various Water Temples?
