I meant survival mode multiplayer or something like that. The free mode isn't all that fun.

Well, Survival mulitplayer isn't out yet, though I'm fairly certain we'll have something playable at the end of the month.

'course. You probably want to play around on your own for a bit anyways, get used to things first.

Lol. I haven't been entertained much today, and I laughed my ass off when I crashed my boat. Retarded, I know, but seeing wood chunks flying everywhere just made me laugh. Call me understimulated.

Nah it's quite alright, Boats are made out of wood so it's not big deal to wreck them, so I just slam them into the coastline most of the time. Diving out at the last second.

I thought I could skid it to an inland lake, so I didn't jump out. I was quickly left without a boat

Ah, well, After I learned that boats exploded. I just crafted a bunch at once.

Not sure actually... is there still a bay12 creative server up?

Didn't see one last time I checked. Though I'm not a huge fan of creative mode, either way.

I knew it'd get you sooner or later Soulwynd. Plus, doing so now, you save 10 euros.

Owch. Went to sleep around 6 am last night. Woke up at 11 AM though. I don't have to do anything productive on fridays, but I can't force my body to sleep past noon.

Thanks Dragnar. Plus the update dropped 10 hours ago.

Though, I do agree, their forums are of a lower quality.  :P

You are several hours late to the party, Vertigon.

Farce:
I do agree, that, having your place secure without you needed to interfere at all is sort of lame. However, obviously you are a lot more susceptible to attack when you are offline. I think i can foresee some servers where people who are offline would have there stuff protected very rigidly (Perhaps to the point of making everything inside a claim indestructible.) However, that seems to be unfair to other players as well.

Guard respawning is something that only can be really refined after play-testing. Ideally you wouldn't want them just being pumped out. There'd need to be some time between them. Plus you'd have to supply the guard (as you said before) so that's a problem too.

Another thing to consider. Lets say you want to settle in a small cave. at the foot of a mountain, and somebody settles at the top. Plus how exactly does a land-claim flag work with a cave? Seems like it'd need to be different.

622
Well, we all have little accidents. I have started a new save (Because the terrain generators been changed a bit.) However, Occasionally I fall increadibly large  distances, and if I had done that on my main save, I would have been a little upset.

623
I didn't know it worked like that, but I've seen people saying the same thing on the Forums.

It's a pretty bad bug. Hopefully It'll be fixed sooner than monday, but, worst-case scenario is you have to wait.

Well, the dude who wants to build on the overhang is a pretty alright guy. He doesn't want to start no trouble, he just saw it and liked it.

If the overhang is blocking your sun, and you hate it so bad, then, wouldn't you have gotten rid of it before you settled at the base?

I don't think the sort of situation would occur with say, large settlements, it wouldn't be a vertical problem, As the other city would have to start building just a foundation above you, which, I'd assume the first city would put a stop to before they could start really get to building buildings.

As for an NPC which automatically rebuilds things. That systems wouuld need quite a bit of work. I'm sure there are plenty of shapes a bot would have trouble with reconstructing. Plus, then you have to work out a system of saving the "Blueprints", and disabling it if someone were to legitimately tear something down for something new.

Having people share a claim is also somewhat of a strange thing, as you'd have to create a system of allowing (And disallowing) people to build within claims, and such.

625
Well, Again, I think the whole land-claim flag concept really needs a lot of work, And nobody can say how it's going to end up without some extensive play-testing.

The key to succesfully building the sky platfrom (even if you are getting shot at) Is to , 1) Remove blocks behind you so somebody can't just come up and knock you down, 2) When the archer shoots, you shouldn't be on the edge, once the arrow is released, move to the edge and place the next block. So on and so forth, until you are above your target, which, at that point, the archer probably can't even hit you (Blocked by your blocks). Then just make a small platform and watch the lava rain down.

If there were NPC guards, there would be something to set them apart aside form the skin (Like an *NPC* Tag where the name would go).  I don't think claiming a place should give you all the air above it though. Lets say you are at the bottom of an overhang and someone wants to build above you. (the vertical distance is about 60 or so blocks. I think that person should very reasonably be allowed to build there.

Personally, I'd probably maintain a small, out-of-they way underground base a moderate distance away from whatever settlement, but also have a home in it. That way I have a (relativity secure, but more importantly hidden.) Place to work from/store stuff. However, I can still maintain a presence in town. That base would also link up to my mine (The entrance being a straight vertical shaft with a ladder.) I go down as far as possible, and just start mining from there. I'd also make an effort to conceal the shaft from any cave systems I happened to encounter along the way.

But again, SMP isn't out, We don't know how exactly it will function. However, I eagerly await it, for better or for worse.

I don't think I can ever be consistent on that. There are many that battle for that position every time the question is posed. Right now, I'd say Deus Ex, To celebrate it's ten year anniversary I replayed it, It's still an amazing game.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior is pretty bad.  I was expecting a next-gen Sniper Elite, I got the sniping missions in Call of Duty, except a full game and with a little circle showing you where your bullet would fly.  You can't disable that circle.  Damn it.

I can't think of any truly horrible games I've played though.

Oh wait!  Van Helsing for the PS2.  Devil May Cry-esque gameplay, with no challenge or variety.  Two hours long.

Whaaat? On hard mode that circle doesn't display.

OT: Saints Row 2 for the PC. Which is to say, the PC port is so god awful it makes me want Murder the person responsible Hold the person responsible hostage Beat the shit out of the person responsible to write a very angry letter to the person responsible! On the flip-side is that, One of the best games I've ever played is Saints Row 2 for the 360. I love that damn game!

I can't imagine someone building across half a chunk to orbital lava bombard you, but...

Oh, how about a really high tower with a sentry archer up on the top?

I suppose there should also be an alert thing, too.  Add a little claim alert icon to the hud, and it could make a noise and flash depending on what's happening at the base or something.

That way, if the AI's too stupid to deal with something, you can come back out of the mine and just build up and duel him or something.

Well, I don't think someone would either, but, you proposed the scenario! If the Archer tower was too high up, I don't think it'd be useful for combating someone on the ground then, and even if the NPC can target them, The further the range, the easier to dodge. At 10 meters away it's pretty easy to dodge an arrow, at 30, Laughably so.

I suppose a warning would be nice, but it's entirely possible to build a system with redstone as it is, not as easy as just that, but possible.

Outskirts flags around base.  Guards watch for dude building something, shoot him up.

If you make your outskirts fairly big, then griefer has to build a pillar leagues away and build a skybridge across said leagues high in the sky without falling to dump lava on you.

It's not that hard to build sky-bridges. Plus, Crouching is something that's supposed to be implemented at one point, which would make it even easier. And, again, It'd be easy to doge at such distances.

630
claiming a sky platform that pukes lava onto another guys claim, all that stuff.  With the guards, you still leave 'em all the interactions open, but make them risky instead of uncontested.

I don't see how a guard would make a floating platform to dump lava on your house risky to build.

EDIT:
So while moderating the forums I came upon This Thread. The suggestion itself is a flight of fancy, using very upper-level ideas that would require huge rewrites in the engine code. But what took the cake was a reply he made later on.

Basically, all technical issues are not issues because I say so.

I lawl'd. It's not totally terrible, I would like to see bigger boats for sure, but, 120 block boats? Get real.
