Even with the new symbols.xml installed and edited properly DFHack crashes with a nondescript error.

Ah well, screw it. :V

thistleknot compiled the latest revision as it stands for 34.11, haven't tested it myself but others report it works fine.

New message "Unable to read process memory."

Nothing else was displayed in the window like it was the other 7.5 you posted apart from the very 1st line.

I hope this version works, cause I'm nearly out of ideas:

I think it does!

The line "DF checksum: 0x0" means that dwarf foreman wasn't able to find the checksum

I've changed the code that finds the checksum and added some more info in the log:

New message "Unable to read process memory."

Works fine on Win7, i tested Foreman on another XP machine and that didn't work either. Never tried Foreman before so tested it(both your versions) with 31.25 and still no joy.
As a test i downloaded the original Foreman and that works with 31.25, but not 34.xx. So it seems like your version doesn't like XP :/
Ok, I don't know what is going on, but I made some changes to the code. Please try this version on XP

Even if this doesn't work, it should show some addictional info in the log screen.

Doesn't display the memory error this time. Clicking OK just bombs it out like the previous versions.

And it's always user error, either through not understanding what's going on and why, or it's setup incorrectly(groups/permissions/policy settings etc) in the 1st place. Computers follow the rules given to them, not just randomly decide to be awkward/illogical, although it seems like that sometime ;p

Feature Request: When i choose Set Nickname can DT populate that box with the existing Nickname please.

And are you aware the alert on lost connection doesn't work a lot of the time these days? i think since v10 or v11. Can't remember if this coincided with 34.11 release or not, but i think so. I've seen it literally only once since it's release.

Sometimes under Windows you need to "run as administrator" a program even if you are logged in as administrator.

I know it doesn't make any sense, but it is Windows!

The only time that may happen is if people think they are in the "administrators" group when they really aren't, and the only reason they'll have a "run as administrator" option is if they aren't in that group.

"The Troll grabs The Cat by the left eye tooth with his left upper arm!"

WTF is an eye tooth ;p

No joy.

Errors: "Allocating Memory Failed" & "Failure finding all vectors :("

I have Win7 on this machine also i'll try that later on.

Try to run Dwarf-foreman as administrator.

I'm always logged on as administrator.

It doesn't matter where Dwarf Foreman is installed, it connect himself to the in memory process.

The "Unknown DF version" error seems to point to a problem with the versions.xml file or with the code that reads the checksum from the DF memory, but I can't reproduce the bug (I've tryed with vanilla DF and with the LNP and it works fine for me with both)

Check if in your versions.xml file you have these lines:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You can also try the previous version: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/33938794/dwarf_foreman.zip

It loaded up my current fort fine, but one thing i noticed is this entry(and all FB entries for this fort atm)

The Rampage of UNKNOWN BEAST in Oilhatchet

Event Log
In 256, early winter, the minotaur Enol Torchwring the Will of Moths was struck down by the dwarf `trp.sword-19' Standardexit the Maroon Sound of Insanities with a (57701) in Oilhatchet. In The rampage of UNKNOWN BEAST in Oilhatchet.

It just seems odd to have UNKNOWN BEAST and yet in the entry it lists the name?

Hello!

Having a problem with DwarfForeman 0.7.5 closing with the error message "Unknown DF version.". I'm trying to use it with a LazyNewb-ed v34.11 Dwarf Fortress. This is the first time I've tried using DwarfForeman and I'm not sure if its something I'm doing/not doing or an actual bug!  :)

Any ideas on how to remedy this situation? Thanks!

Same issue here, i'm just using vanilla DF no mods, but with Ironhand tileset.

XP SP3.

DF Modding / Re: [AGE OF MAN] Modding questions

GL with this project, it sounds like a great idea. Have you considered working with a certain time span in history, ie like the bronze/iron age etc. Or maybe start before that and work your way through the ages(tech levels?) which enables you to craft better and better weapons as you advance.
