While I am not too aware as to how much the AI actually cheats, for the sieges, it is fully possible that the AI isn't cheating. For one, sieges are somewhat randomized (far more than you'd think), the number of infantry or cavalry troops (but not cannon troops) don't matter much or at all for besieging (but not assaulting) as far as I know, and leaders with siege skill increase the speed of besieging, so if that is a good "level 6" general, he might have siege skill, and they might have him leading that unit.

The only case where it would possibly be blatant cheating would be if they are besieging cities with more garrison than they have troops and winning. Are they besieging cities with more than 1K men?

So, anyone else up for a game today?

...but nobody is allowed to agree to peaceful vassalizing, and losing x amount of wars/war percentage means the losing side has to accept vassalization...
You'll also want to make sure nobody intentionally loses wars if you're going to forbid peacevassal, which is difficult to do unless you can see what is happening every war and are somehow able to distinguish intentional bad moves from just poor gamers.

Maybe have a 1 or 2 session period where player vassalization is not allowed, to let people grow a bit or something - though that could be really dangerous, like what happened in the last EU3 game with england.
Perhaps you could base it on strength. Larger nations get no leeway, while tiny nations have much more spare time if you think that it might effect them or something.

Yeah, you're not alone in passiveness. I just have a hard time justifying hurting the hard work of others.

As for not lasting long enough, last EU3 game we had we had even after you left definitely had exploration.

I'll be setting one up I'm sure, but I'm out of the (my) country until the 13th, so it probably won't be on release. I'll make sure to post in here when I do get it started, though
That might be for the best, to let people try out the new things before actually getting serious.

Nice:
Oh, neat.

Fun trivia for those who don't know: Wiz was (and still is for the moment) a CK2 modder. Specifically, the sole dedicated mod maker (as far as I know) of the CK2+ mod (though that won't be for long as he's quitting the mod soon).

I explored two ruins with my first two colonists on the very starting turns. They both disappeared. Huh, interesting. Well I guess England isn't going to be colonizing the New World any time soon.

Yes, I didn't exactly lose or die, but there's not exactly much I can do with one ship and nothing else.

Did your next game start with finding a tree with the word "Croatoan" carved into it?
Yeah, it also had some indians claiming they were descendants of white men. I didn't believe them, of course.

Okay, so, are we going to do a game this Sunday this time?

So you're saying that it's impossible to remember horrible 1-turn RTDs one day after it's gone? Or are you saying that basically every RTD created is successful?

No one said either of those silly extremes.
It's not what he said, it's what it can be interpreted as. Because I (genuinely) don't know about everyone else, but I can remember even really boring things for a uselessly long time. So those two extremes are legitimate possible interpretations of what he said, which is what I was getting at.

Which reminds me, is anyone ever going to run another RP-heavy RTD like Dwarmin's fortress of blood?
What about you if you like it so much? :P

Is there a point? I mean, you'll have achieved near-world conquest at the end of a single EU game.
Yeah. Of all the paradox games, I believe EU3 is one of the easiest to world-conquest by the end of the timeframe, especially if you chose to ignore infamy. If you happen to carry a massive empire from CK2, it won't be much of a contest. If you want fun later games, you'll have to limit yourself until Victoria and HOI which as far as I know are harder to steamroll.

I don't have MS Access.  Does anyone have an idea of how to edit the database?  I tried with open office but I couldn't get that to work for some reason.
MDBPlus is what I use for editing the database.

Honestly, I don't think there's any official definition on "successful". As for an RTD returning, it's likely to be mixed.

Just stopping by to say have fun, everyone. Make sure to beware the Taric Sizier.

Also be sure to beware the new Myron Sizier, potentially related to Taric Sizier, who might be more insane and dangerous than Taric. Hopefully, though, he hasn't already learned the ways of the Rainbow. If he has... well, you might all be a little bit doomed.

"Last things to say...? Well, I guess I do have one thing to say to you Dom; stay alive, and stay safe. That's an order. We won't be around to save eachother again... at least for a while." Tarran shrugs. "Though honestly, in some ways I don't think it'll be much of a problem for you. The real problem, I think, might be Taric..." He stares at Taric for a second, before looking at the ground and chuckling a little. "Well, at least he isn't as brazen as Hoke. And plus you won't have me shooting you in the back meanwhile." He stops chuckling before looking back up and shaking his head, seemingly ending that line of thought right there and then.

"As for taking risks..." Tarran shrugs. "I'll try and stay alive best I can, but if I see the chance to fix this... monster we call the Technocracy, I don't think I would mind sacrificing myself for the future of, well, humanity." He looks somewhat gloomy, but determined. "But really, if I end up biting the dust, I don't think there's any greater honor than dying for what's right. Try not to feel too sad if that happens."

His face lightens up to a somewhat indifferent state. "As for you, Taric, regardless of what you have in mind now... good luck I guess. I don't know whether what you're planning on doing is going to bring an end to humanity or save humanity, or do some weird combination of both, but you've been a... *cough*'good'*cough* friend, so I don't think I can really wish ill on you regardless. And... try not to go too crazy with that porn mag. Yes, that one... you know which one I mean." With that, Tarran turns around at a moderate speed and begins walking away, semi-intentionally kicking the crumpled MRE with him as he goes.
