Roll To Dodge / Re: Spearbreakers: the RTD-- Turn 1 prep
« on: November 23, 2012, 10:03:35 pm »
Where are the cats? I thought I said Emong had three of them...

Ekul Thomoipan (Dr.Propz), the Dwarven hunter
Location: Somewhere in the blood plains
Inventory: Cat leather boots& trousers & tunic, mug of wine, iron crossbow, quiver with 5 arrows

I think I know where your cats went
:D

Turn 1: the Beginning of the End!
Wropest Abodip
Ready my claymore and prepare for something bad to happen. After all, this is Spearbreakers.
1) a general sense of unease seems to rush through your group and everyone starts baring their weapons. you take your claymore, but drop it. as luck would have it, you dropped it in a deep puddle fulla' blood.

Luthian Naradil
Draw my bow and place an arrow on the string, scan the area around me for any signs of danger.
(Random.org hates you guys)
1) you draw your bow, but as you string it, it snaps in half. You curse the merchant that you bought this from. If he wasn't already killed by the spawn you'd surely do it yourself. You look around, but the blood rain is thick. and you can't see much furthur than 10 feet in front of you.

Idem Valan
Look around, stick next to the Dark Elf(Luthian/Mesor)
5) you look around and notice dark figures in the slimy, blood-soaked grass around you. sensing a fight, you stick to Luthian like a boss, but he doesn't seem to be very ready.

Ekul Thomoipan
Drink from the mug with the crossbow in my other hand
3) You start to choke a bit on the wine as it goes down. you're so drunk, you can't even drink anymore! after a few intense hacks you finally feel better. -1 HP

Emong Daggerbeard
Emong will draw his knife and looks around, walking quickly towards the fortress...
6) you draw your knife from it's sheath... not much to overshot on there... you move to the front of the group, wanting to be eaten first if something comes from the front, or have a good chance of outrunning everyone else if it came from the back.

(there is usually an environment roll at the end of the turn, but the first few turns are planned a bit.)
Suddenly, 3 Hollistic spawn jump out of the brush. they look lean, mean, and hungry. the best part is that they all came from the front so Emong is going to be on the menu.

Roll To Dodge / Spearbreakers: the RTD-- Officially closed
« on: November 23, 2012, 06:16:34 pm »
Spearbreakers, the fan sequel to Syrupleaf, now has it's own RTD!!!

!!!WARNING!!!
This thread will have spoilers to the succession game. please do not play if you haven't read the spearbreakers succession game or specify that you haven't. you can find it here. It's a long read. I suggest skimming.

This RTD will not be part of Canon, in game or out.

Now, on to the rules. standard RTD rules apply. anything can and probably will happen. I'll have five people at the start and I will never have more than that. for those that actually have dwarves  that have major roles in the fortress, you'll need to pick a different name. you won't be playing as your dwarf in the fortress.

There will be a hit point system. you'll start with 100 hp and lose it when you get hurt. you'll regain 5 health every turn and if you're bleeding will lose 5, 10, or 20 health per turn depending on severity. practicing with objects will do nothing for you as I won't be keeping track of levels.

put your actions in bold. Actions that are not bold will be ignored.

application sheet
Name:
Race:
Profession:
Gender:
Inventory:

There are no limits on race, but remember, you're dealing with dwarves here. Much like humans, they don't like anything that's not exactly like them.

Alive
Wropest Abodip (Wwolin) (1-
Luthian Nuradil (mesor) (1-
Idem Valan (Corai) (1-
Emong Daggerbeard (GreatWyrmGold) (1-

Dead
Ekul Thomoipan (Dr.Propz) (1-9): Got drunk off of booze tainted by Mr Frog and was thrown down a trash chute

Waiting list
LolFail0009
Reudh
Aseaheru
Draconik_Sankis
Talvieno
Tiruin
Zacen299

Starting environment: you look around you. the migration caravan walks somberly through the thick blood rain. you've heard glorious tales of richs and mugs from the fortress ahead, but the journey has not been easy. spawn, undead, and scythods have all done there part to whittle down your caravan to just you five. Morale has not been high, but you're so close.

I must think on this RTD idea. I've run RTDs before.

EDIT: It's on. who wants to play? I'm asking this BEFORE posting the topic.

160
I just had an awesome idea. Spearbreakers: The RTD!

161
I'm...almost...oh heck, who am I kidding. I'll never catch up with this thread. I'm only on page 69. :(

It's still been pretty awesome so far though. Impressive to see what the fort's lived through as of yet (and even more now, I should expect). Plus, the various journal entries and artworks have been of excellent quality and make the place as a whole feel more alive. Keep up the good work! (better make sure your past selves kept up the good work (future selves too))

the document that Talvi put together is really good for catching up. trust me. I was behind by 300 pages and caught up much faster reading that than looking through every page.

But the content...must read every post...

...I guess it might be a little more logical to stick to the important stuff. Put all Talvieno's hard work to use and all.

from what I understand, he's working on updating it as well. I make no promises for him as he already does enough for this thread. it's only updated as to some point in august, but you have another 100 or so pages to read after that. I recomend when you get to that point increasing the number of posts on each page to the maximum amount.

Was anyone at all affected (be it humerous or distrubed) by the random scrawlings?

I've seen worse. in my own diary. bum bum bum

I'll take that to mean no then.

It's okay. most of the people of the internet have been jaded by years of cat pictures

If so: look around for anything useful someone might have missed
