I'm very proud of my -pixel avatar-. I made it myself one day in MSPaint, and personaly I think it worked out very well.

You should host it as a PNG. JPEG fuzzies don't do pixel art any favors  :-\

I was just doing pixel art last night  :D

I sell decorated dresses, mostly. Little girls around the world love to wear Spiralpaged depictions of goblins being brutally ended.

Though there was the time I bought out the entire loaded caravan (I asked for max of all metals, etc) with one cotton candy goblet.

I'm a dirty savescummer, I confess. Just now I crashed it because I got an adamantine crossbow artifact. UGH.

It did have the goddess of wealth looking victorious on it though. Relevant.

Good question. I know Toady was planning to make it so migrants came from somewhere, BUT due to the fact that migrants show up even if your dwarves are the last ine earth, I'm saying that appear at the edge of your map endlessly.

If you are playing a dead civ, you'll only get about four migrants, ever.

Becoming a barony is the first step to becoming the capital mountainhome, which is a goal in and of itself rather than something that's particularly beneficial. Unlike in the 40d days, a baron/ess will actually WORK, so feel free to pick anyone except the most critically important people. They will make demands based on their likes so it's a good idea to pick someone out ahead of time who will be easy to keep happy. Hopefully in the future there will be a better interface.

I am playing the other adamantine spire posted recently right this very second. The spire went from ground level to 50 z's down. Hell is empty like the day after the circus. Nothing, nada.

And there is PLENTY of adamantine. About 15-20 pieces per floor for 50 floors.
What spire? :o

Maybe.  There was even another spire posted recently.  It was a several z-levels above ground but it wasn't the space elevator.  or even close...

Yes it was the "uh hello clowns" one. Empty hell, all the adamantine for the taking. Only problem is that 3x now it has spontaneously crashed during a siege.

I have had about 20 cats in a pit succeed in taking down one goblin. However for anything vaguely effective you're going to have to mod their stats file as aforementioned. That's one of the really cool things about Dwarf Fortress. The engine may not be open source, but so much of the data is stored in plaintext for you to tamper with.
