Ah, righto. So since I'm using Lofn's tanning mod, would I be able to just add those to the creature variations added by the mod (e.g. SCALED, CHITINOUS etc.)?

I just discovered that some screenshots of the old Adamantine Space Elevator thread have been replaced with screenshots from... Kerbal Space Program, I think? This is basically the most hilarious thing I've seen all week.

How did you even find that out in the middle of a thread from 2010...?

So in the process of making my upgradable leather mod I realized that it would be beyond badass to have my military decked out in reinforced shark leather armour. Unfortunately the only way to get such large amounts of shark leather is by farming sharks. Fortunately farming sharks is pretty bloody awesome to do. Unfortunately farming sharks is something I don't know how to do. However, I DO know that in the past people have found ways to farm both mermaids and sea serpents, so sharks should certainly not be as much of an issue, except for the whole 'taming and butchery' part. Which would probably be nice to know how to do as well.

TL;DR: Shark farming for great justice. How do?

Preferably I'd like to have a series of upgradeable tiers, e.g. base leather -> slightly above iron -> slightly below steel -> between some modded metals I found to bridge the gap between steel and adamantine. I just really want to be able to have my militia commander decked out in a giant scorpion carapace suit without getting shanked right off the bat.

As for this:
It is possible, by adding a new material to a creature (call it UPGRADE_LEATHER_MAT) with a different template that behaves sort-of like leather, but better.
How would I go about doing that without breaking anything, or having that material appear in the creature where it shouldn't?

How difficult would it be to make a reaction which takes a piece of, say, giant lion leather (or any leather, really) and converts it to "reinforced" giant lion leather (or reinforced ______ leather)? Because I'd love my dwarves to be able to ride into battle clothed in the skins of their fallen enemies without being immediately skewered because leather makes crappy armour.

TL;DR: Can you convert animal products to different materials? If so, can you do this while retaining their animal source?

My best friend finally left his abusive mother yesterday. She reported him as missing today, but when he found out he called the police and explained the situation, and not only is the case closed, but his mother was noted in said case files to be abusive and dangerous. Said friend is currently staying with his boyfriend and everyone except the mother is happy.

Definitely more linear. Since there's an actual story and all.

Story. Storyline. There are scripted events that happen. Now, I understand this may be a jarring concept to a Dwarf Fortress player, but I assure you it's not all that bad. Usually.

YES.
Indeed. Among other things I'm looking at hunting feral rats in the sewer levels in order to make rathide armour and bone weapons. There is also maybe going to be a scorpion miniboss - naturally, with craftable carapace drops.

How small are the gnomes? As small as the ones in The Bromeliad Trilogy by Terry Pratchett?
Unconfirmed height, but def. small enough that spiders and rats can be a major threat. Possibly looking at maybe an inch, inch and a half tall?

Okay, so I was on reddit earlier and I came across this. My brain promptly decided it wanted to turn that into a pseudo-2d game. I am now relearning basic C++ to try and do this. The only programming thing I've ever done before this was a Yugioh booster pack randomizer (which admittedly turned out pretty decently, but was a two-person job). Please either stop me or teach me how to code this sort of thing.

EDIT: Okay, stopping me is no longer going to happen. With that in mind, here's a list of what I've got planned so far!
