Does anyone have any information to confrim or deny the rumour that it can only support one of the tablet controllers? I keep seeing it pop up, but no one seems to have a source, which makes me think it's all internet rumour.

I haven't found anything conclusive since this, where the only solid response is that Nintendo vehemently refuses to comment, and is simply not prepared to respond to that.

I still think it's disappointing if it's true, though.

As long as it's nothing decisive, I won't give up hope... Nintendo has always been about the local multiplayer, and there's just too many oportunites that sink if you can only have one controller (Four swords anyone?)

Edit: Also, in other news, the controller is apparently 7x10 inchs, so says Gamespot.

I may get lynched for this.... but I think it looks rather intersting... is it the sequel everyone was clamouring for? No. But if you take it as it's own game, it looks kinda cool.

So that means its not coming out for the PC?  Seems a shame.

I think from the beggining they've said it's being designed as a console game.

With the issues people seem to have with cross-platform multiplayer, and a game that's supposed to tie in to a MMO, where consitency is key, I think it makes sense they'd stick with one console.

I remember the N64 controllers lasting ages, as long as you didn't play Mario Party with them  :-\

My palm is still caloused from that game... and I doubt all the plastic dust I've inhaled was healthy.

Guys, a controller which can act as an almost-independant handheld console is a bit more than a simple gimmick.

I'm just saying.

We don't know to what extent it can do this, though.

From what I've read, it depends on the game. Some games can be played complety on the control, others require a mix of the two. I think it was the wired article.

Soon after this is released we will see reports of this thing dropping off the Empire State Building unharmed. You know it's true. Nintendo's controllers have gotten inexplicably more unbreakable over the years.

I remeber a story about the old Nintendo 64 memory card surviving a winter under the snow, and being dragged in by the dog in the spring. No corrupt data.

Dose anyone have a link to a recording of the pressconference..I can't find one.... :'(

It usually takes an hour or two for them to format them or whatever, and the confrence just ended ten minutes ago.

The controller also has a speaker on it.

The device is designed to appeal to all users, especially traditional gamers, who will appreciate the twin 3D pads, D-pad, two shoulder buttons, twin triggers, microphones, accelerometer, camera, and gyroscope."

I'm going to say I'm cautiously optimistic for this one... from the press confrence it sounds like the subtely admited that they've shafted the core gamer, and that they're going to try to fix that a bit... Cautioimistic.

That's right, just announced by nintendo, the Wii U.
Apparently backwards compatible with some wii controllers and such, the new controller has a 6 inch touchscreen on it. Apparently, if someone wants to snag the tv or whatever, you can still play the game on the controllers screen.

Anyone else think Nintendo should fire their naming department?

Edit: PICTURE

Solution for the ones that get harder: GM PCs. Yes, I know certain players hate it, but playing D&D with only my bro as a player was completely improved by adding an NPC party member or two.

The key is to not take away from the players' spotlight. As long as party NPCs remain minions or in the shadow of the real protagonists they tend to work fine.

Yeah, I sorta did that my first time and my bro got annoyed real fast. So since then I've played cleric/healer types who don't do much except give assistance and recommendations when he gets stuck. The plot is usually center around the player, after all. Not make believe players.

You'd be surprised how many systems are workable in this manner for only one player.

Another solution like this, that works a bit better if it is possible, is to let a more experienced player play 2 PC's if they wish. It's easier if it's sort of a George and Lennie type situation, so one pc is the brains, the other the brawn. But any combo is imaginable.

DAMN! You beat me to it.

Now, let's blow some capitalist pig ass up! Or whatever it was the Japanese called the Americans.

Finally, a place where people appreciate my genuis! I have to say, I'm quite proud of that one, makes me smile every time I read it. Almost enough to bring a tear to a man's eye, to see it fought over like this.
