From what I've seen, sportsball being on makes people more likely to beat their kids and spouses, not less.

452
Yes, in the sense that some people are just me. I suppose I could establish the Boomer Scale in full.

453
Yes, your average Republican politician is at least a 7 or 8 on the Boomer Scale, and as such believes they are immortal until proven otherwise.

I'm dumb founded by the seeds. If it's fake reviews, why send anything at all? Wouldn't it be easier to make spoof accounts, pay and then not deliver but give a review anyway?
To the kind of petty trade networks that do this? I think it's more than worth it, especially when they're using stolen credit cards to buy the stuff in the first place.

I was watching a Call of Duty tournament last weekend, and was wondering why the armed forces would actually want CoD players to apply.

I’m not sure how teabagging would translate to actual warfare.
Because without poaching kids in as young and in as in deceptive ways as possible, nobody would join them. They're actually not meeting recruiting quotas anymore.

I'm most disgusted by how I've seen centrist libs reacting to this though, chastising AOC for being "irrationally anti-military like the other leftists". Yeah, you fucking think? I can't even imagine why someone would have an issue with the US military, totally out of left field that one.

Time to conduct one of those hypnotic unconscious bias tests on wierd to see if his lizard brain has been secretly converted to Trumpism. The fix is in boys.

Yeah, when I got that I couldn't help thinking how much it sounded like an infomercial: "Fast and direct economic assistance to you!"

I think Heinlein was too politically exploratory in his work to be accused of being a fascist outright, but Starship Troopers is absolutely a book that glorifies fascism. It's ironically one of the best examinations of fascism's seductive nature for that purpose, and I imagine that's why the director of the film took it the way he did.

Don't count the banking collapse out yet, we could still have a sovereign default! Technically your bank deposits up to $250,000 are insured, and that's only a measure going all the way back to the actual fucking Great Depression, but who knows? Nothing means anything in Trumpworld!

The US isn't as paperless as some places, but the default here is electronic deposit. That's how I and most people got the stimulus check. (not relief check haha, americans don't need relief we're the greatest country in the world, relief is for africa god bless america nuke the commies)

I keep a check book around just in case, but even boomers are mostly paperless in my experience. It's the very poor and the very old who are insistent on using checks, the joke being a 99 year old holding up the grocery store line for half an hour painstakingly writing out a check for a single gallon of milk.

That's hardly a good faith criticism. We all know the place that schools have in childcare as well as actual education, broken as that may be in the US.

That's why it was the government's responsibility to at the very least prepare an alternative which most people could follow instead of denying the need for months, bringing us to where we are now. Some of the states are trying, though that's pretty fucking hard with DeVoss up there trying to lie and threaten them into "back to normal" instead of offering any support. Though frankly, I think even leaving kids home alone is a better idea than doing nothing.

The Speaker of the House would get the job as long as the Speaker is still in-term. While it's California and not the federal government that is handling Pelosi's district, there's nothing normal about the President casually suggesting we cancel democracy to begin with. If the House can't get reelected then they're all gone, and Chuck Grassley of the Senate becomes President.

Of course, by that point I imagine Trump will just have Congress arrested anyway. You know, that's an interesting hole in our electoral law, just don't allow the election to happen and you effectively abolish the House immediately and the Senate over the next couple of years.

Cops and landlords are the best of buddies, they'd happily evict 50% of the population.

I feel like it's at least appropriate that we be at HAPPENING-CON 3, since we could indeed have prevented this.

I remember people could inflict third-degree chemical burns on themselves doing the salt-and-ice challenge. Maybe it's wet salt that causes it?

I know people sometimes use old salt mines to store film because it'll annihilate even the slightest air moisture. That's where some of the lost footage from Event Horizon was discovered.

I think we have a better barrier than microbes do - people in salt mines aren't annihilated.

...as far as I know.
