So, lots of people get around an allegedly bugged Dungeon Master by removing [PET_EXOTIC] tags, but would it be possible to just take the tag in the raws that gives the Dungeon Master this responsibility and give to say, the Expedition Leader or the Mayor or something?

It'll make a difference, as they'll tend to increase their dodge and shield user skills at a faster rate. Also, I'm not entirely positive, but I think they won't spar until they reach a certain level in a weapon skill.

Had a great axedwarf nicknamed "Helenka," had around fifty kills I believe, not the best, but she was getting there. Then I found the circus. And a gobbo siege led by a clown showed up. She SHOULD have been able to demolish that siege (And afterwards, I was gonna let her make a last stand at the circus), but the damn clown that led the siege released poisonous vapors that messed her up. YOU'LL BE MISSED HELENKA. Fort went down too.

I tried throwing the file into my actual DF folder, and it worked. So, if anyone else is having this problem, try that.

Hey, just downloaded dfhack, .25 DF itself, Windows 7 OS. Every time I run one of the binaries (I extracted the folder onto my desktop, do I need to do something more?), it opens a cmd prompt window, then says it stopped responding, and promptly closes itself, without any visible changes to the map. Help? :D

My bookkeeper/mechanic just finished an artifact mechanism........ It's literally worth nothing..... On the plus side, it is very "gneiss"

They've been like this for at least a couple of months. That's right, not only are they all bleeding heavily, three of them can't even breathe

Here at Deathgem, we breed 'em tough. 8)

Well, that settles it, I'm locking the doors. Freakin' freeloaders can starve for all I care.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Immortal dwarves?

Recently, some reptile dudes decided to attack some of my dwarves. Most of the reptiles were armed with spears, some with blowguns. The reptiles have been dealt with, and I've managed to wall off the magma pool I found, so any dwarf deaths are really inconsequential in comparison. The problem is...... They aren't dying. They're lying in bed with their chests splayed open, bleeding everywhere. I think they've been like this for nigh on two months. Some are 'content' or 'happy'. I don't have a hospital set up, and I'm a little short on dwarfpower to get one going, so I figured I'd let these unlucky few die, and just get on with the fort. But there they sit, bleeding, sleeping, using my beds and food while contributing nothing to the fort. The ONLY dwarf who died in the attack was a miner who was pretty much wailed on for a few weeks straight while she lay unconscious on the ground. So, are these dwarves every going to die? Should I starve them? Leave them until I get proper medical facilities running?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / What about those times you lucked out?
« on: June 11, 2010, 01:16:39 pm »
I noticed that most things dwarfy tend to involve stories of horrible, horrible, misfortune. Which is all well and good, but what about those times where Armok decided to place his blessings upon you for once?
Personally, in my latest fort, I picked a site with an aquifier and managed to dig straight through it without any trouble whatsoever. No flooding, at all. However, I suppose said fortress was slaughtered by a salt beast later, but I digress. So, any lucky moments you guys would like to share?

Well, turned the culprit was one un-muddied tile. Thanks for all the help, I would've gone crazy trying to figure this out. May your beards grow long.
