I've never used this command, but... according to the ? menu, 'r' removes an item you are wearing or from a container.

I'm pretty sure most of the mental attributes have no use in adventurer mode yet, but I once min-maxed my adventurer's stats by lowering his memory. Every time I came back to an area after I explored it, it was blacked out again.

Mm-hmm. I did it from the start, just in cade.

Also, I asked permission once, and I was stunned awake.
I always get stunned awake. I've seen others do it too. I think that's just happens when entities wake up now.

DF General Discussion / Re: Thinking of starting a DF LP
« on: November 13, 2010, 12:06:25 am »
The Escapist seems like a really good place to introduce DF. I assume this is a written LP, then? I think the best way to do an entertaining fort mode LP is to embark somewhere ridiculously dangerous. That's what makes community stories like Headshoots and Battlefailed so awesome.

Good luck by the way. ;)

I keep trying to slap people across the face with my scimitar to stun them, that's my favorite part of the new combat system. :D And the wrestling interface is beautiful.

Anybody else notice the clouds that affect your vision range on the travel map? Weather effects are coming...

Welcome to the fold!!! [TWITCH]

I've been stalking worshiping obsessi observing the Bay12 forums since the 40d days, and not long ago I couldn't resist signing up ANY LONGER!

I'd recomend (going even further back) if anyone has the heresy misfortune to have DENIED THE WILL AND WARNING OF ARMOK not read the gruesome lovely story of Boatmurdered. Please do so before I tear off your sock and beat you to death with it.

In fact here is the link:
http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/Boatmurdered/Introduction/

Just remember to keep the hospital stocked with +doctors+ and addamantine thread because your're going to need stitches afterward. (Laughter CAN kill)

Once again welcome, and remember PULL THE LEVER!
The part that made me laugh the most was always the butterfly jamming the door open and the werewolf table. Don't know why.

I'm fairly certain that with this new aimed attack feature, you can only attack that which you can reach. Toady mentioned something about only being able to attack giants below the waist unless you knock them down first, so I'm sure prone opponents can't do much more than slash at your ankles, much less attack your head. I could be wrong, though.

You are, unfortunately. Reach still is the same as the old version.
Hmm. Too bad. Well, I know he mentioned it, I'm sure it's coming soon.

Ok, i remember that bolt in a leg sent a poor cobold to unconsciosness, maybe because he was so little, a single bolt could eviscerate his leg. :D Yesterday i had a fight with a dragon, one dwarf came, and chopped his leg with first strike, the rest of the fight dragon was unconscious. I agree, that mutilating mindless bodies is quite stupid side of the game, but i saw units falling into unconscious for seconds or two, that would be dissapointing to lose some precious military dwarfs due to them falling down of some stupid wound.
But anyway, it's dwarf fortress! Would be easier to make totems. Heads will fly left and right :D
Are you sure they were unconscious, and not simply stunned or prone? Unconscious things have a flashing white "x", stunned things have a blue "x", and prone things have a brown background. For severings I can understand the KO, but minor wounds shouldn't cause unconsciousness in dwarf-sized creatures, so I'm honestly perplexed by your findings.

I hope prone and stunned enemies get their opportunity numbers worsened(for them) somewhat, too.

Read the section about Anomander Rake. Kepp in mind that he is the first son of the god that created the universe, like Jesus only if his sword cuts you down you end up in an alternate dimension where you spend eternity cognizant and pulling a wagon, and you may never stop. Those that due end up dragging behind it by the shackles attached to their necks. Also he is depressed and can transform into a dragon. With the two most bad-assed types of magic in existance. B****!

I win

Dumbledore > fanboyisem.
Anybody can make a son of a god, or what not, and be over powering, but only I am dumbledore!
Dumbledore > X
END OF DISCUSSION.
...Wait, where the hell did this discussion come from?!

DF will never get a playerbase that large.
I beg to differ.
I believe Dwarf Fortress may, in fact, be larger than minecraft even now. I've walked through the mall in my city and heard discussions over the merits of embarking with cats. Random strangers talking about dwarf fortress. Minecraft? Nope.
Dwarf fortress is the game that every one of my friends has played. Every single one. Most never even heard of minecraft.
....WHERE DO YOU LIVE!?
I too wish to know the answer to this, mostly because a city with an unusually large concentration of DF players scares the piss out of me.

The only flaw to this theory is that it would imply that the Touhou comminity is the more mature then the we rouge-like fans.  :P

Exeption to prove the rule, or something of that nature.
I think it might have to do with the atmosphere, personally.

Touhou: Loud, obnoxious, and full of colorful anime characters.
Dwarf Fortress: Ascii characters on a black background set to calm, hypnotizing acoustic guitar.

3539
I think Toady should implement this... and not tell anybody about it. Just don't mention it at all. It would be absolutely hilarious to suddenly discover that there are gay dwarves out of nowhere.

3540
We can't have gay dwarves because there's too many americans on this board, and their delicate sensibilities might be offended.
I AM OFFENDED, SIR.

Really, though, I don't think the idea offends Americans so much as it offends the Dwarves. Homosexual Dwarves are marked as heretic Dwelves and thrown into the magma pit. Besides, DF's in a medieval setting; if the Dwarves don't get to the gays first, the pitchfork-wielding medieval peasants will just burn them at the stake.
