I stopped following the game after multiplayer update. Did the improve the combat aspect of the game or it's still clunky as shit and boring?

there are spitting enemies which are boring and annoying and the mechanic is generally the same (you get instagibbed until you have the tank or an updated power armor and then you just club them) the tank is fun for 2 minutes then gets boring fast, but I'm generally ok with that because the game has a ton of new content for the logistic aspect and I'm happy with it being a factory challenge, not a rts.

there is a kinda rts mod however that includes you having an army and enemy being more and more aggressive around somewhere

all this talk of Star Wars actually lead me to another peeve which is...

Token Female Character

you know, the one which was made specifically as a bullet point on a sales list, and could be replaced by any gender/genderless/creature/item because being female is just a skin over a non otherwise characterized plot device.

haven't got any good counterexample in mind, but you can look at Fantaghirò feature film to have an idea of a hero which still is a hero in the fantasy defined sense but couldn't be replaced by a male figure in any capacity

lost in under a year to a siege. didn't recall the combat to be so brutal, it used to be possible for a couple untrained squad swarm the first goblin ragtag.

also, all weapon traps missed a lot. need to pack up a better mechanic next time

I've noticed that a lot of people here have very large fighters, up to 500 tonnes.

Whats filling the space in your fighters?

eh, the moment you want a non box-launcher fighter you need both a reactor and the smallest meson is 250t iirc, gauss can be smaller but if you sacrifice too much precision they become pointless.

meson fighters are an awesome backup for every occasion, but miniaturizing them is quite hard to do

etsy is becoming very popular for small crafts if you happen to be gifted. they take a bigger share of shopify but also have a more professional vibe.

if you are analytical, there are websites that pay for usability testing on other websites. if writing is your thing, there is plenty translation gig and freelance copy writing to go by etc.

just put some more detail in here

maybe that's is not a good game to cite, but I remember getting stuck in icewind dale because I was just playing for kicks and suddenly four golems none of the party could damage because I didn't single mindedly focus each one of them in their specialty like 6 little obsessive compulsive psychopaths.

1.0 is out so I gave it a try. first day, ambushed, couldn't find the order to keep moving and shooting, so I basically parked with my ass in front of a 50mm at gun

is there a way to understand the menus? it was all like "press space press space there will be another menu before combat" and then everyone was asleep on the job (but at least I managed to close the hatches)

also, thanks rng for robbing me of all my he shots before the encounter. not that it mattered, but still.

I can't hold many things in my head at once. If I read a section of code longer than two to five lines (depending on language) (excluding declarations/variable definitions) I tend to loose track. Thus I try to cut anything I need to do down to one or two lines. One tool to do that is called abstraction

I'd call it information hiding, a subcategory of abstraction, and yes, I live by it, because when you get 1m line of code mixed between javascript, java, install scripts and mobile wrapper remembering that to create Baa() you first need to call Foo() because it initializes a variable Baa needs is the road to madness.

Same with code passing strings around. a method that tells me that the input is a Regex instead of a String is 10x more robust when I have to fix something ten months down the line.
