is there a way to know if I'm having too few or too many military units? what do you all do? just recruit to cap? I didn't see upkeeps mentioned anywhere in the ux

Where did you find it?

I missed the official discount and I remember I got an email "you've been there 6 years here a small gift" and lo and behold it was a coupon, I lucked out.

27m tall trench rats, though.

dunno a 3m rat seems more scary, a human will barely register interest in a colossal creature while a 3m rat can decide to attack because it feels threatened and can fit in any place you might find shelter against a larger creature

yeah it was just to see how it'd worked, I wanted to get some fat gun fasts and wanted to see if I could go this way

in the end I just did a cl feint and a dd torpedo rush to clean up the british bb and that was it. early years are mad especially if varied tech hit guns.

a while ago you meantioned weather and ecosystem, do rain refill lakes? does rain come from somewhere? say, humidity raises from trees/ocean and condenses into cloud, or is it just generated randomly?

very interesting. I always loved the depth of wargames and always hated how they presented you a strategic setup you had no hands in making and just forces you to deal with it.

is there a whole genre of these or is this more of a unique thing?

the fact is most wars are conquest wars because vassal/tribute requirements are so high to be pointless. in turn, a conquest war only lead to annihilation.

if claims influence were higher and tribute easier, you'd get a lot more 'modern war' were you contest strength and where a surrender makes sense. but that would make assimilator/purifiers and the whole lot of empires that can capture without claim completely op and they would need a rework as well.

but in the context of planetary claims, yeah, doesn't make sense how war works to begin with, so no amount of logic can be applied to surrender conditions.

tbh you should be focused on promotion during fundraising events. it's easy to approach kickstarter with an idea one loves and just expect likely minded people to just resonate with it, especially if one own background is mainly programming, and it's hard to multitask as highly focused individuals like developers are. not going to say you should need to retreat and regroup to push a better kickstarter later, but you should be like working on getting this thing out 24/7, and youtube has 4 videos, with a reach of a few hundreds people.

to put it buntly: even if everyone you reached would back the project, you'd be reaching about halfway the goal.

the math is just not in your favor here, *irregardless* of the actual game quality.

At least this one can show gameplay that doesn't look faked, but yeah I'm leery of kickstarter these days too. Still going to keep my eye on this.

yeah kickstarter without a demo are on the high risk list for everyone

I'm pondering to make an exception for this one, but so far we've seen zero gameplay, only stuff being created in god mode, so it's super hard to have a sense of what the game is about, how the game loop plays, what a city actually do beyond being there and having its pixel simulated.
