Might I suggest dwarven knockout gas as a high-tier weapon? Have a process that takes a large amount of a single plant(voracious maws, maybe?) and something else and turn it into a boulder of knockout gas. Apply magma, and you have a horde of unconscious goblins, ready to be experimented on!

For building multiple-story buildings, I use stairs for the individual floors, and then I do this:
I put a ramp in place of a wall so I can get up on the roof, and then replace the ramp after I'm done with the roof. Diagram below.

It is entirely possible to mod in both metals. In fact, many mods have done mithril, including the Genesis mod by Deon and Legends of Foreign Realms by Narhiril.

Why don't you give him a small hut? Wooden bed, wooden chair, wooden table,wooden floor.
Then, when you feel like it, set the hut on fire.

I'm robbing all elf caravans and having him produce record amounts of robes. Then, I use those robes to buy silk from the caravan, and thus gain even more profit.
