Honestly when the game gets to the point that things like this can happen, DF will kill the fantasy book genre. I mean who needs to buy a book when you can just generate one on your computer, different every time and always amazing

That has always been a really nice feature. I wonder how it will get expanded on in the future for some of the more esoteric spheres.

I'm having the same problem, and the website is down for me as well. So... not sure what is going on

I didn't even realise this could happen. That's hilarious.

"Oh, hey! I see you're on the mend. Anyway, I need that arrow."

*Horrible tearing sounds*

"Thanks!"

Wow, people sure like to complain a lot in this thread. You'd swear you were paying customers or something.

A friend linked me to it... a year before it was ever released (CptMayday I will never forgive you for this. Couldn't you have suffered alone?). Anyway, it sounded great, and I followed it for a while. Then I forgot about it, until he reminded me just before the release and I've been playing ever since.

The latest bit on healing woulds raises a question

It seems that at the moment, wounds will heal whether they are treated or not, all treatment does it speed it up. How far away are we from wounds not healing at all if untreated/poorly treated? Say for example you get a broken bone - if you're not treated it could heal really badly and leave a permanent disability.

Also, another question I just came up with while writing this - if someone has a compund break, can you target the bone sticking out of the skin with wrestling? Because wow, that wound be insanely disturbing/awesome

Hey everyone. While we're on the topic of visualizing DF races, I thought I'd post this.

[Elfpic]

It's an average looking Elf character, as opposed to Cacame the dwarfy elf or the insane Elf herbalist, which I don't really think are prime examples of what DF elves are supposed to be. This is one of them. He's looking down on you.

Is that elf... wearing leather?

You can do that as far as I am aware, but you can't have one caste turn into another caste at any point during it's life, due to the non trivial issues this raises.

So for example you could have what you were suggesting, but you couldn't have say giant flymen give birth to grubs which then turned into flymen

I have a feeling the surgeons may go the way of the Sheriff in the respect that he does something with no real benefit, just nasty things that end up killing or maiming your dwarves.

This is pretty much the silliest thing I have ever heard. Stitching up your wounds and fixing your broken bones isn't of any real benefit?

Fantastic work again guys, another really enjoyable experience. The edit was a lot nicer as well, especially the fade on the music.

My only point of constructive criticism would be that a couple of times when you guys asked questions people had posted, there seemed to be a little bit of miscommunication on what the question was actually about.

I'd suggest maybe everyone should have the questions in front of them (either in full or by bullet points, whichever works). You could do this with either some sort of collaborative text editing session or just by sending a list out to everyone beforehand.

Regardless, 5 star effort guys.

Edit: Also, to people complaining about the edit time - You realise the edited version of this is 91 minutes long, right? and you realise that to properly edit it you have to listen to the whole thing through at /least/ once, right?

Yeah, the more colours you use the more expensive it gets. This is why most merch shirts are basically two or three strong colours

I tried to get that to work Vester, but I couldn't get them to make things out of bone at all[/]

The sight of people walking around wearing pig tail cloth bonemail was very disheartening.

I think the main reason I personally enjoy them so much is that they are made by and for the Dwarf Fortress community. All the previous ones done on other sites have been aimed at people who don't know much, so there is a lot of the standard 'So tell us what Dwarf Fortress is about' and 'What can you do?' and stuff like that.

These are for people who already know that, and who want to get a bit more insight into the game rather than general interview-y type questions
