Still, I got a question that the forums and readme didn't really answer - is there a way to use ground penetrating radars? I've made sure it's in the equipment menu when I landed on a planet, but it didn't really give me any of the effects I expected (being able to see through mountains or walls) Perhaps you need to activate it - if yes, then how? Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure the GPR is used to detect units, not to 'see.' Atleast that's what it's always done for me, it's pretty handy in cramped places when you don't know which corridor a

is hiding. It makes blind firing easier since it can sometimes pick up units when you cannot even see them, which allows you to tell your redshirt army to open fire.

I remember Apollo.. I landed in my Heavy Explorer rammed full of redshirts/disintegrators and he promptly told me that I should be worshipping him. I told him to bugger off, blasted the hell out of his copies ('f' '0' is your friend with lots of enemies around, but don't split your fire if you don't have enough firepower to make it worthwhile) and found his temple, melted his face in 4 rounds, and obliterated his temple.

Then about 4 hours later I found

, and I was pissed.

This looks like a very generic Hack and Slash. I'll pass on this unless it has actual depth, which I fail to see..

Wow Grand Wizard Doctor Paul. Just WOW.

After posting this on my Facebook I have a rabid Ron Paul supporter linking me to his PR department's videos screaming that "HE'S NOT RACIST!!"

And apparently I take all of my facts from MSNBC. Hah, typical Paulian.

Sidenote:  Anybody willing to put their stones on the block and take a stab at who is going to win?  (The whole election, not just the republican side)

Obama.

I've decided to step up my training since honestly, my free time can be spent better. I'm going to be taking my normal working out and multiplying it by about 2-3 times.

At the moment, I do a total of 40 pushups/situps each day to maintain my upper body with little effort. But I've found that no matter what I do my form and figure in pushups are not near my ability in high school, which leads me to believe im going soft in my actual core (the obliques and back muscles, to be exact). I also compound this with a set of benching at 220, ten times, sometimes 15 if I'm not too tired by ten reps, along with bar curling and stiff-legged dead lifts. I don't do squatting since it hurts my back and I'm not a kid anymore, I'd rather not risk slipping a disk or such just to make my legs feel better.

My new schedule will look something like this:
60 situps to wake up on, with 20 pushups afterward

Then I do my main workout during the day;
2 sets of bench, which, while a pain in the ass to switch weight plates out solo with a non-screw clamp, is much more effective than one set-- Starting at 155 and doing it 20+ times, then going back to 220 and going to the point where I cannot do anymore (do not fret, I can still lift this easily if I get caught out of energy)
After benching I do my normal curling and deadlifting, but now I'm putting an extra 35 on my curl bar. I've used 120 for a while just because that bar is terribly hard to find weights for.

Then before bed I do another 60 situps and pushups.

Today I actually did my main workout twice, and only felt it in my core. I almost feel like a kid again with how this is affecting my energy levels. Being laid off can make a man a bit.. Lazy, hah. I invite anyone with a story like mine [and a proper weight set/training to do the working out without risk of injury!] to go out and put 110% in. It's absolutely worth it.

I'll post an update somewhere along the way, but I can honestly say I already feel better than I did before.

I really wish I had a Fly machine, though. Those things can work absolute magic on your back, especially your Lat muscles. I remember in high school my back had more muscle than my legs!

General Discussion / Re: Equality for Washingtonians

Warning: If you come here for the social climate, stay within 100 miles of either the coastline or Interstate 5 at all costs. That part has literally 75% of the population, and it's pretty sane. Cross the Cascades, and you enter The Oppressed State of Eastern Washington. The vast majority of people around here are fundamentalist Evangelicals, or as I like to call them, 'Fundegelicals'. Every politician around here runs on the platform of 'protect us from the communists in Seattle!'. The weather over here is semiarid or desert, depending on where you are. It snows a lot. The other side has rain and fog, but also a far lower guns-to-people ratio.

Well, I hate to burst your bubble about the OSEW, but Spokane (the capitol and my lifetime home) is anything but majority fundamentalists. About 8 of every 10 people are either pro-cannabis [and inherently Republican Despising] or Independent and Liberal-Leaning. I'm sorry, I just can't stand someone from Olypia greater acting like they know a people inside-out just because you're thrown inside the same general border. Also, the guns are a trend that's going up not because we're rednecks, but because robberies have been on the rise around here since the 90's and our local PD's don't even have a Task Force to recover goods anymore because of our budget being so horribly mismanaged by our lovely imbecile governor, so it's just getting worse on the armed robbery side. I know three people that have been robbed myself, all personal friends. Liberals too! Two of them are Occupiers, yet now they own a Remington.

Just sayin', shit such as this is the main problem with society.

most things aren't fair,
is it fair that corporations now get to copyright other peoples work? no, no it's not.
is it fair that while walking down the street I saw someone find a $20 bill on the ground and I didn't get one? no, not it's not.
is it fair that some people aren't allowed to have cats because they're allergic, or can't drink milk? no, no it's not.

etc. the list could go on forever

Is there a law written that makes you donate the 20$ bill you find on the ground to the nearest multi-million dollar owning person?

How about a law that prevents allergic people from owning an animal that they prefer?

How about you come up with an arguement instead of being an ass.

In Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad, 118 U.S. 394, the Supreme Court recognized corporations as persons for the purposes of the Fourteenth Amendment.

and

In Dartmouth College v. Woodward, The Supreme Court recognized corporations as having the same rights as natural persons

There's been contradictory ruling after ruling over the years about corporate personhood, with it being banned in 1907 (when progressive politics and positive change was actually wanted) and reinstated in the 70's (basically leading to Reaganomics as we see it today). The main issue is the fairness behind it, not the legislation.

A law passed recently in the US, quite silently with everybody bothering with SOPA and PIPA.

Basically, the US can now take public domain works and copyright them back.

Which doesn't make any sense at all, unless the US is officially given free rule over all in existence, and can now claim objects under a copyright that they had zero to do with originally. Does this mean uncopyrighted works will eventually be written into a law allowing the US to "protect the rights of innovators" by assimilating even uncopyrighted objects, for the sake of fighting piracy? Doesn't seem any different to me, Public Domain is the same as belonging to the people, in my opinion.

Maybe it doesn't work specifically in invading instances for some reason? Maybe has something to do with the reason why my asteroid mining NEVER works :[

1. The Crucible is a work of fiction based loosely on real events. For example, Abigail Williams was an 11-year-old girl who never had an affair with John Proctor, who at the time was in his 60s. That was all added for drama. It's not hard to imagine that most of the girls weren't making it up. Hell, THE PLAY ITSELF SUPPORTS THAT.

MARY: I… I cannot tell you how, but I did. I… I heard the other girls screaming, and you, your Honor, you seemed to believe them and I… It were only sport in the beginning, sir, but then the whole world cried spirits, spirits, and I… I promise you, Mister Danforth, I only thought I saw them but I did not.

2. Here's on example of mass hysteria that happens to be similar.  Here's anotherAnd another.

1. Just because the author wrote it as fiction does not release it from being a pretty true depiction of the silliness around the 'Mass Hysteria' (cascading lie) issue. He puts it rather clearly, actually, in the overarching story. I acted the play for christ's sake. A line =/= the point.

Also, "It were only sport in the beginning" is about the most critical part of that quote. Mull it over a bit before you say the Crucible presents Mass Hysteria as an actual cause of the situation, since it presents a very feasable scenario in which this happened. Because the cause of the situation was girls taking a situation too far and one lie turned into an explosion of lies and led to the utter destruction of due process as the girls cries foul against random townswomen to save their own asses.

Basically, if these 12 girls were being called out in the 1600's courtroom that the young pilgrim girls were, I'm sure we'd see a pretty similar mass fabrication of witchcraft being the reason, which turns into 'Mass Hysteria.'

Know what? Mass Hysteria should just be called Voodoo Vibes and we should look to studying anti-shaman rituals.

2. I appreciate you googling Mass Hysteria, as I did. The links fail to provide an actual scientific explanation behind it other than 'chalking it up to good old Mass Hysteria!' I don't know. Also, the NYT article goes on to suggest the West Bank thinks it's caused by poisoning.

Alright, now, when someone can show me some scientific study or maybe an autopsy of something with the dreaded Mass Hysteria genome in it and explain what the hell is going on, I'm just going to have to say it's silliness.

3686
Basically, it's less a disease and more a social phenomenon, sorta. Like riots (except it's not intentional on the part of people who are a part of it).

Well, if it's not intentional then what the hell is it? Point me to a scientific study showing me the development of this sudden onset mass hysteria, which is often just a backhand excuse that quacks think up in circumstances like this and the Salem incident, which was just as baffling but much more alarming due to the fact that the perpetrators were faking it the whole time. I mean, has anyone even read the Crucible?

After reading up on it I can't help but just see ridiculously lazy doctoring and excuse-making instead of problem solving. I'm not a psychologist or a neurologist or any sort, but I've been under enough actual stress to know that being a cheerleader in a no-importance school doesn't cause fractures in people's mental state. Especially considering that I am not babbling insane for the very same reasons cited as 'causes' for this.

Also, the fact that a majority of these girls are in fact cheerleaders and most likely the higher-up preppy types of their school further solidifies that this is just silly bullshit thought up by girls to get attention in the internet age.

Last year was in my opinion spent on all kinds of unnecessary candy, that in my opinion did very little to nothing to make the game more appealing or even more fun to play.

Sadly, I do have to agree with this. IMO, Toady spends way too much time, years of time even, working on stuff that the player generally will never interact with. A year of work that will barely be noticed could be far better spent on the low hanging fruit. This would be bug fixes or UI improvements. Practical things that would get much more bang for the buck, or much greater impact on the game for the amount of time spent working on it.

I think DF is a far superior game to Minecraft, however Notch scored the big haul because Notch was focusing on practical over the more esoteric.

I adore DF and think DF is a beyond outstanding game, but I'm just saddened at how niche it is. It a brilliant gem that seems to be hidden away intentionally, so that it will never get much of a following so long as remains utterly unapproachable unless you're willing to put in some serious time learning how to play and reading the entire wiki.

Entirely wrong choice of discussion in a topic that isn't about DF. Just sayin'.

Besides, half of General is full of the same types of pseudo-negativity. Let up. This wait is nothing compared to the agonizing almost two years we waited for Z-axis's. But this topic is about the Paradox Game, once again.

3688
... mass hysteria is a real thing, too often used as an insult.

'Mass hysteria' makes about much sense as 'Mass sudden insanity' [something that cannot and should not ever happen, unless the populace is goddamn braindead and act like a hivemind due to cultural circumstances (such as the majority of 'Mass hysteria' reports coming from third-world, hyper superstitious communities to begin with)], does it not?

3689
"The Mega Conspiracy"? Is that their own silly name for themselves, or did the US courts really establish the use of that?

The Super Axis of Mega Evil Conspirators. Propaganda much?

Hate to break it to you, but these comparisons are a few months old now. Most have been quoted from the media all the way on through to this thread :P

Yeah, so? Not a single original thought left in this world. Sorry.

Just so you know? Pointing it out? Also not original.

Yeah? Well MY dad can beat up your dad!

 ::) Come on gentlemen.

I sure hope Obama issues a solid response to their 'Fuck you's (as the writer put so eloquently) in the following way: No, fuck you. Call the elitocracy out once for christ's sake. They seriously cannot expect to have their cakes and eat it too (control of movies, television, music, and NOW the internet) without a sane leader, like Obama, realizing that it's destructive and that a line needs to be drawn. Of course, it's most likely political posteuring.
