Apparantly some guys over at #coderbus are working on an overhaul of medbay.
Highlights (so far) include:
Less powerful bruisepacks and ointments
Medibots aren't better doctors anymore.

Bruisepacks are powerful?!

Yeah, they are. They heal 100% of brute damage on the targetted part of the patient's body. So if someone has 99% brute damage to their torso, one use of a bruise pack heals them to 100

Another idea for a round:

Station has been abandoned for nobody knows how long. A ship full of scavengers comes across it and decide to investigate, get some loot and shit to sell. Thing is, station is full of dangers. Zombies roam the halls, Carp fill the Bar, Pirates control the Engine or whatever. Point is, the scavengers aren't totally defenseless. Admins spawn them equipment sets for people based on their job or "class". We get a few people with heavy weapons, maybe a flamethrower, a guy or two with a full kit of electrical tools, at least one medic, and whatever else would work (Xenobiologist maybe, for RP reasons? I'd love to do that)

You know that's pretty much already a mode called "Derelict".

A lot of people hate it because it's brutal as all hell; you're given a fire suit and gas mask, along with medical kit, toolbox, and O2 tank, and are expected to make it through the station with zero pressure or temperature without dying.

It's usually messy, and heavily based upon luck. Not to mention laggy.

Around a year ago, a TG coder and myself tried to recreate this. We only got halfway done before real life matters dragged both of us down. We dont have any serious plans on resuming it, but we've both given it some thought.

Our biggest design issue is how to spawn in 50+ people, as they have on TG1, and have sufficient supplies laying around to be used right away.

Looks like it. I was AFK. I wonder if it's due to the fact that powersinks and infinite cells don't mix well.

Fukken sandbox

So during a round we were discussing the possibility of a RP for the characters of Futurama. I suggested doing it when its less populated. If anyone IS interested, we can have a huge party with everyone's favorite Sci-Fi cast in SS13

Good news, Everyone!

That's how the round would start with either an old captain's announcement or an admin announcement leading into the plot. But really, probably would be hard to do and only only be fun for whoever goes to play the main cast as everyone else would have to help the plot.

I'd probably play this again if the lag was fixed, but I gave up on this hope like 2 years ago.

Would it be possible to let round ends be extended to 60 seconds instead of 25?

Its possible, but I dont see any reason to do this

Ok guys, some important information has just come to my attention.

BYOND, the game client SS13 runs on, have come out and said that they are in financial trouble. They say they may have to shut down in the future (time frame uncertain), and without the BYOND backend, it may be more difficult for us to operate the game as it is.

BYOND has asked that everyone update to the latest client, which has ads displayed before a game launches. These ads can be skipped by becoming a BYOND member for $24 dollars per year, or other payment options for 6 and 3 month memberships. I am going to put a poll up ingame seeking opinions on whether we should extend the amount of time between rounds (currently 90 seconds) in case the ads make it difficult for people to get into rounds before they start. Please dont vote on this until you try the ads.

While none of this is being forced on any of you, we should do our best to help support them as we would not have SS13 if not for BYOND. /TG/ put out a similar request, which you can read here, and I recommend doing so for a bit more clarity on the situation than I may have stated.

Blah, this really is not a big deal. But thanks for the message of congrats.

I've asked KG to maintain this thread and the OP (provided he accepts) because I dont really see a need for a new thread. I refuse to accept that KG does not desire to be an admin any longer, because hes cool and brings balance and some other cool stuff.

Yeah, any object can have special things happen 'on suicide' if you are holding them. Most of them are just really subtle most of the time.

Server is updated and back up

Now if we could get Android to update git. Please, Android. Merge.

I am waiting on them to pull a commit I authored first. They said they would pull it 3 days ago so now I am to the nagging stage.

Idea for a gamemode lovingly ripped from somewhere else. I think it would work just fine with SS13, though.

Basically, everyone who isn't a head or security officer has been poisoned, and in order to not die they have a target they must kill. No two people will have the same target, and heads and security are not targets so it will basically form a loop. As players kill their victims (or their victims otherwise die), they gain back the damage they lost to the poison and take the victim's target as their own, until there is one person left.

The heads and security officers, on the other hand, basically have to find a way to stop the bloodshed and find a way to provide an antidote to the poison.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a poison, but anything that slowly ticks away at the player's health would provide them heavy impetus to kill their target quickly, since they become not only less able to hunt their target but more likely to be easily killed by the person hunting them.

In Wizard, the Wizard can trigger something somewhat similar to this..

Are you pulling updates from the tgstation git code?

Yes, and we have even given them a few of the things we have written here.

EDIT: What I'd really like though, is having the ability to cuff feet to slow people down. That would allow sec to apprehend people as well as give the cuffed person a chance if a disaster occurred. The way it is now you're absolutely helpless if you're cuffed.

Yeah, its already in the game
