Roll To Dodge / Roll to (Not) Escape : Data Fragments [TURN 3 : Shots]
« on: April 28, 2015, 05:50:01 am »
The Megastructure sprawls and twists across countless miles, covering both land and sky with cold, lifeless metal : buildings, bridges, empty towers of desperation.
The majority of species has since disappeared off the face of Earth.
The forced sanitary conditions and the nanomachine clouds that suffocate the air...
Everything is under strict control, as the State officials used to say before the so called Fall.
Ragtag groups of people set themselves up in the impressive structures that seemingly never end.
You happen to be part of one of these groups, a population of a hundred or so people occupying a bulky bloc.
You have everything you need : synthetic animals grown in vats, charging stations, water synthesizers...what else ?  A goal ?
The norm is not good enough.
After numerous meetings it was decided that a scouting party is to be established.
You were drafted.

Superimposed levels.

Soulless beings sparingly roaming the white tiles.

Roll To Dodge / ZRTS - TURN 5 - Desks Suck
« on: March 17, 2013, 09:01:09 am »
You find yourself stuck in the office, at work. Outside it's all chaos, the news talk of...mass riots due to gas prices. You know better than that, though. Rioters don't tend to maul each other to death and eat organs in public. You sigh in frustration and share stares with your coworkers. Some decide to group up and blaze out of the building. Other decide to just stay in the office and wait it all out. It's your choice.

The zombies (to your knowledge) don't seem to be giving the building any attention right now. Too busy butchering civilians.

Zombie awareness : 5%

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Sekmeth's howl
« on: December 30, 2012, 10:48:39 am »
2122 - Humanity had since colonized the local solar system and has been expanding along the Milky Way at fast peace. Indeed, few planets were hospitable but under the careful watch of one truly bright man, Lucius Beneveer, everything went perfectly. However, the Powers of Earth bit more than they could cew. They rushed the development, spending less and less time terraforming the planets in the craze for richness. More and more problems popped up, colony bubbles wiped out completely by powerful weather phenomena and the fauna and flora claimed back their rightful territory.

2140 - Lucius Beneveer dies and with him, so does colonization. The technology is available but no one is truly confident to put human life at risk.

2145 - The leaders of PoE meet and discuss the grave problem. It is decided that if no expansion will be made they should protect the current colonies at all cost.

2146 - Teams of specialists are formed to counter any mechanical problem of Lucius' design.

2148 - Earth has received no word from Sekmeth-12's colony for more than 4 months. A group was sent out to seek the problem and fix it.

DF Modding / Shadow of Koronúm
« on: March 10, 2012, 02:43:19 pm »

Download
http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=5429

In a land ravaged by war and tragedy does a man really have control over his own free will ?
Or is it controlled by a transcendental entity ? A hand of God one may say.

Ages had passed since the Koronúm turned earth into a land of death and blight and even now, the effects are still visible. The living dead are still walking through the twisted woods of enchanted forests, beasts of immense power still lurk the city streets at night and mysterious sorcerers still raise their shambling minions . The civilizations managed to get over the destruction that the Koronúm brought. They built massive fortresses and towns to live in, built bridges to cross gaps, raised spiraling towers hoping to touch the skies. But some things never change. Land. Land is finite, but greed, greed is not. Peace always was volatile. One mistake and all could crumble.

The Earth is divided in control by five races.

The Dwarves, brave warriors and miners of the Mountain Homes. Short of stature and bearing mighty beards, they master the arts of metal and stone crafting.
The Elves, proud rangers of the Forest Retreats. Tall and scrawny but with keen eyes, masters of woodwork and archery.
The Humans, nobles and merchants from Towns And Villages. Average sized and well built, they have a big metal industry but are well known for being able to work with anything.
The Ancient, travelers and survivors of the Koronúm. Mysterious humanoids with strong exoskeletons ; known for being the creators of the soul manipulating magic, so long forgotten...
The Orcs, berserkers and vicious warriors coming from the depths of earth. Strong and mindless, feared for their taste for flesh.

Main Features

-17 new creatures - Centipede Demons , Mushroom Men , Asylum Demons, Ancient Dragons and more.
-14 new weapons - like Great Hammers , Claymores , Rapiers , Scythes.
-5 new shields - Heater shields , Spiked shields and even Great Shields.
-3 new trap components - Ever wanted to get impaled by javelins while searching a tomb for treasures ? Now you can.
-Acreomancy - Using the power of souls as a primordial source ,the wielder of these forgotten arts could easily tear down a grand keep in seconds.
-Demons - Powerful entities that never truly die ; sometimes deity curse humans to be vessels of demons. Demons are specially made to cause chaos and disturb the balance of earth.
-Angels - Magnificent, divine creatures that are sent by superior entities to posses specific sentient beings for the balance of the world.

DF Modding / Claymore - Release III [Ready to Rip / Nightfall]
« on: October 27, 2011, 11:40:51 am »
Welcome to the Claymore mod.
Somewhat based on the Claymore manga/anime.

Current release : III
Features : -Claymores (powerful big sized swords that could easily behead a Yoma if used with skill)
-Claymores (half human half Yoma warriors which you can play as in adventure mode)
-The Organization (currently in control of Claymores and organization workers)
-Yoma (most common and least powerful, however pretty agile)
-Flying Yoma (not so common but being flyers is a huge advantage)
-Voracious Eaters (incredibly fast and strong, very few however)
-Night Terrors (deformed dark creatures of the night)

Suggestions are always welcome and so is critique.

New Items (Numbers not so exact, there are probably more but I stopped counting at some point)
-66 Weapons
-6 Shields
-11 Helmets
-6 Armors

More realistic bodies - Any blow has potential to be deadly, for example one may puncture your diaphragm to oblivion, leaving you breathless or maul your jaw clean off. INSTALL NOTE : Delete old/default entity file (! THIS IS CRUCIAL !) and if asked to overwrite something say yes.

DF Gameplay Questions / LOTR World gen
« on: January 29, 2011, 10:50:48 am »
Hey, I didn't really know where to make this thread so I made it there.
I'd like to know if anybody still has that LOTR world_gen that's been around.

And if yes is it compatible with the current version of Dwarf Fortress ?
Thanks in advance. :)

DF Suggestions / Bought objects on table
« on: November 15, 2010, 07:56:20 am »
Well,  guess some of you encountered the problem in adventure mode where you buy a (let's say) bronze crossbow. You pay it up, and get it.
Now, what if there are two crossbows to sell or more, and you pick up the one you didn't bought accidentally. Same material same quality, you don't have a way to know which you bought.
I say,the bought objects should be put on the table (by the shopkeeper) where the shopkeeper puts your money after selling him something.
No more accidentally taking the wrong item.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Out of suddenly...FIREWALL
« on: October 16, 2010, 07:57:33 am »
Oh, I just loaded up my save, played a bit, designed a meeting zone (troglodytes began coming up my stairs).
So out of sudden my frame rate died and I find my fortress surrounded by a giant wall of flames, that still rages across my map, leaving only ashes behind.

Screenshot of the map :
[Warning. It's huge]
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

So what the hell just happen, there ain't no volcano or any giant flammable...thing around.

How does trading work ?... (sorry for newb question)

I just got to play Dwarf Fortress again, and when I try to see the underground it doesn't work. I keep pushing the > and < key but nothing, so I can't get into the underground. What should I do ? :/
