"Sure, why not. It's gonna be a while before I get another change."

Drink! Drink whatever mind expanding/altering liquids are available for synth people. But not so much that I cannot keep up coherent train of thought. And keep it under 10 credits if I have to pay my own drinks.

((Sarrak buddy, buy three clips for my rifle and one for my pistol will you? I'll pay back later 45C because now I'm gonna drink.))
(6) Wolf smirks at you and points his index and middle finger towards the barman. He pours two 100ml shots of vodka and places them on the carefully polished wood bar. Wolf pours his down the gullet in a smooth move and taps the glass with his ringed fingers. “Hell, if I was in your situation I’d be drinking all night. Scouting is one stressful job, you know. I worked with the guys in the council as merchants for years before we set flag here. Scouting was part of the job description and trading routes were still young then. We actually had to dig up the resources ourself...now they just pay starving people for the hard work. Those were tough times.” He sighs as you finish your shot. You feel a warm buzz as you willingly turn off the alcohol inhibitors. The bartender butts into the conversation like a fish across the face : “Don’t whine Wolf, you would’ve jumped on the opportunity too, scum.” Wolf responded with a laugh as the barman set another glass on the table for himself, he refilled them still looking at the ex-merchant. “Yes, I would have...too bad things didn’t work out.” You’re starting to think that the previous remark to bandits was aimed at the bartender. Wolf looks at you with a wide smile, you notice a silver tooth shining in the extremity of his mouth. “Don’t be shy now, they’re on him.” The bartender glares at Wolf with his mouth half-open, trying not to hurl a few insults out.  “Just joking, jeez. I’m payin’” he pauses and tinkers with his sleeves. He looks at you again :  “How did you end up here ? In the colony I mean.” You take the the glass and gulp it down.

Red tries to find batteries again, before heading back to the group.
(4) Growing frustrated you take the path that leads to the disposal outlets. Searching around the meter-thick cables that haven’t been touched in centuries you manage to find 2 portable batteries, they are dirty with black muck and rusty but after some tinkering with the interior cables you recognize that they are just few percentages away from 100% charged. Somebody probably had them stored for dark times and never lived enough to recover them.
Robb

"Allright. Three for assault rifle and sniper rifle, one for machine pistol, if I remember his guns correctly... Food and water for three days. 100 creds total, right?"
The woman nods and smiles. “Exactly.” she takes the resources from the racks and runs them through a tiny hand-scanner. She places them in a sturdy paper bag and hands them to you. (-100 C)

Tog looks at the guard and hops excitedly from foot to foot.

"Tog has work. Tog gets to help. Happy days, oh tall one. Can Tog help you too?"

Talk excitedly with guard
(6) The guard raises two heavy eyebrows and removes his hand from the jacket. “I -” you interrupt him eagerly and start a conversation on the morals of guard work and it’s benefits. “You talk true, small friend. There’s many things that are worth more in this life.” The guard leaves you with a discouraged look on his face. Somebody might just be quitting a job soon enough.

Buy 4 days worth of food and water. And 2 ammo clips for my pistol.

((How much money do we have))
(3) You find a tiny vendor tucked away in a small, run-down room. He greets you with a friendly wave, probably his first client in a long time. You manage to acquire what you came for. (-60 C)

Xilos:

"I'll keep that in mind. Business with you has often been profitable for us both. My name is Xilos shopkeep, I'll look forward to speaking with you when I return."
With that said, he would leave the shop after a polite goodbye. He would look for a terminal after remembering the details of how he had gotten into debt. It honestly wasn't his fault, he just hadn't managed to halt the virus' progress. Such was life occasionally. He just had two more stops to make. The first should be easy enough, he just needed to find a working terminal to wire the credits to Nelson the Tech. Once that was done, he would find a shop selling ammunition and buy seven clips for his pistol.

"N37N. Please change your name to Nato. Such is easier to remember. Are you capable of accepting verbal commands Nato?"

Find terminal and pay debts to Nelson. Find ammunition and shop and buy seven clips for the pistol. Preferably extended mag clips. Also, inform N37N that his new designation is Nato.
“Xilos ey?” The shopkeeper gives a modest smile and accompanies you to the door. “My name is Zlatomira Grozny. Be safe out there friend.” (2)You find a terminal just outside the building you were in, you insert your data and transfer 30C to Nelson. The machine beeps and spews the card out. “Invalid username. “Nelson” is not an active account within KA-W4RD. Please try again.” You slide the card out. Either the machine is broken, his name is not Nelson or the account was removed. You find a small weapon shop, Robb and Tim are already inside picking up their new acquisitions. The woman looks up at you at gives you a slight nod. “The more the merrier. What do you need ?” after showing her the pistols her face lights up and grabs some clips from behind a bunch of unmarked boxes. “Here, I had them left over from the last batch, didn’t expect anyone to buy them this cycle.”

The hologram cube’s surface flashes for a second with the words “Nato” before dimming again. “Understood. I do indeed take verbal commands.”  [-70 C]

(The team could be heading out after the next turn if everybody's up for it :3)
[Gave everyone x1 ammo, as per the gun/thing is fully loaded. Just so you don't happen to go in combat and hear *click click*]

Elias Newman

I place the armored helmet and assignment sheet on the side of the chair taking notice of the box.

Oh bloody recruits...always tinkering about and leaving their toys in MY frame.

Pop my head out of the cockpit for a second, checking if anyone is looking to get a reaction out of me then get my ass seated again. I shake the box, listening for any rustling or rumbling and then check if it has any clip/opening mechanism.

Xilos:

He would not at the shopkeeper's words, "It's nice to be remembered." When he describes what the portable device does, Xilos would get a very interested look across his face. "I'll take it all. What do I owe you friend? And while I am here, I have some spare time till I am needed to leave. Is there anything you would like to me to take a look at and fix? I appreciate those who keep a eye out for tech and supplies I would be interested in."

Inquire if the shopkeeper needs help. Take the mini-AI and strap it on. Run a systems diagnostics on AI. Grab the rest of my materials. Try to remember what I had done to end up in a Tech's debt.
(3)”Synth, you’ve done more for me that I coulda’ asked for, though, on ya journey out there if you find any scrap that you’d say I could push for sale do bring it back.” the shopkeeper closes the magazine and lights up a cigarette, looking as you start up the mini-AI. The black shell vibrates before the display lights up with the machine’s boot code. A thin layer of particles float out of one of the ports and form a cube with different facial expressions on each plane. It stares at you intently as you tap in the data required for new owner. “Hello. This is a N37N system meant for network access and analysis. I do hope we will make a good duo, Xilos.”  The floating cube spins to show you a thin smile. You run an initial diagnostic. (5) Everything seems to be in tip-top shape. The response times are on point and there seem to be no system errors. If you had to guess this AI was never used. You weight the mechanical arm prosthesis while you put the batteries in a pocket, it’s pretty bulky and heavy. (1) The debt, yes...you recall borrowing some tools to fix a terminal on the perimeter of the bloc that made sure all the visitors were logged. It was badly virused and you weren’t quick enough to save the terminal from infecting the tools. You fried some really expensive equipment and the technician, Nelson, as you recall, held a grudge against you ever since. More importantly, you don’t know who or what infected the terminal.

"Thanks man, much appreciated!"

Find our guide and inform him about our destination being upper floors.
(5)You make your way through the spiraling staircases that lead to the Firebreather Bar, you’ve been here before when a popular hunter enclave arrived in the colony to rest. The bar is is neatly decorated with japanese lamps, wood tables and colored neon lights, pretty fancy and expensive for a tiny colony. You notice Wolf sitting at the bar, chatting with the bartender with a few empty glasses in front of him. He’s a pretty average fellow, dark skinned with sunken in cheeks and a social attitude. You interrupt the conversation they were having about chromatic highlights and notice the guide about the group’s choice. He nods and takes a shot of whisky. “Well, that’s the best out of the two. The senate has sentinels patrolling around there looking for information but it’s way better than the floors below...God knows what lurks down there, bunch of mutants and bandits…” he scowls and shots a look at the barman before looking back at you. “Up for a drink ?”

Seeing his companion stuck, Robb tries to lead the way.
(4) You take the lead as your two companions follow closely behind. Few turns to the right, some to the left, you hear shouting coming from a nearby room. Curious, you stop for a second as a man is thrown out the door. “If I see your face around here one more time I’ll make sure it will be fixed up real good.” he picks himself up and stumbles down a set of spiraling stairs. He mutters something as he passes by you. The woman is wearing a tight black leather bodysuit with few layers of black jackets on top. She has silver hair and a mechanical, purple eye. She waves you inside the shop. It’s nothing too fancy and it’s pretty cluttered with 4 people inside.
She’s presents her equipment swiftly, different kinds ammo, food , water, some old tech weapons (mostly revolvers).

Random space marine! I think it turned out well. Tell me what you think. :)

Love the tiny Mechanicus :d

Also, weird color schemes straight out of..places..yeah.

General notes : Added items to inventory in first post. OP will be edited with current inventories after each turn.
                      Y'all start with 100 credits.

Ao

If batteries are not provided then go buy some for the trip. Get some tools for breaking through doors and walls.
(5)You take a sharp left and head down an alley with pale green walls surrounding the floor form both sides. You take notice of a depression in the straight path, a door. You peak in and the first thing you see is racks upon racks of bulky batteries with wires spewing out and over the floor like the roots of a tree. A fat man wearing an oil-stained tank top raises his eyes from what seems to be a pornographic magazine. You ask for a set of portable batteries and some breaching tools. After few minutes of tinkering about in the backroom, he throws a black backpack on the wooden desk and pushes it towards you. "Good luck out ther' ya'. This one on the house, token of gratitude. Now you go."
The backpack's contents are 2 portable batteries, slender and shiny, unlike the ones presented on the racks. They come charged. You also notice a weird looking device with a mechanical leech-like mouth hole on the front sitting atop five black cases with red stripes painted over. The man chuckles. "Old Russian technology. You put explosive charge in here" he says as he inserts a cartridge into the chamber on the device’s side. “And you pull trigger with mouth against wall. It usually shots forwards…” he lets out another laugh. “Crazy techies.” he mumbles to himself.

Xilos:

"I concur. Upwards. I shall await you all at the fore mentioned bar after I attend to some personal business."

Xilos would leave the others and go in search of a shop. Specifically, Any shops selling batteries and spare parts for synthetics. No telling what could happen on the scouting mission. At the very least he would want a day's worth of batteries.

Search for Synthetic shop selling batteries and general repair supplies. Also, remember what funds I have access to if any!

(6) You follow closely behind Ao and after being done with the deals you come up to the shopkepper. He looks you upon and down and his eyes widen in surprise. “Ya that...synth hacker ? Do you remember me ? Few months ‘go the locker room systems went haywire and ya had it fixed.”  you tell him what you’re looking for, from the beginning of the sentence to the end he smiles widely : “Yass, I’ve got some stuff, plus there’s something I wanted to show you. I think you’d appreciate it.” He comes up to you with 3 portable batteries, an arm prosthesis of sorts and a PDA-like device. “You mount this on your arm with the straps here, it has wrenches, welders, screwdrivers, cable dispensers. Pretty much anything short of a saw.” he waves his arm. “Now this, this is not a PDA. This is a portable AI. Took it off some durak merchant that thought he’d pull shit. With some little time this guy can have you acessin’ any local network, and from there on, my friend hacker..” The shopkeeper grins. (2) You actually just remember that you are in one of the technicians debt with about 30 credits.

"Affirmative! Up we go!"

Scrounge up supplies, mostly batteries and explosives.

Afterwards, check exactly what stuff I've got. Follow group.

(5)You manage to find a portable battery, probably someone dropped it while jogging down the stairs. It seems unscratched and ready to use. (2) Explosives are more tightly controlled. You scavenge some of the darker areas of the town and ask around, nothing really comes up. A man in a white tunic, a guard you recognize, walks towards you with a hand tinkering with something in his vest pocket. “Excuse me, sir. What were you talking about just now ?”

Ao

If batteries are not provided then go buy some for the trip. Get some tools for breaking through doors and walls.
Tim shows Ao his hammer. Then goes of to find food and water as well as some ammo for his gun
(2)You try to brandish your hammer from it’s usual place but the handle is slippy. It drops on the pavement with a loud BANG, leaving cracks under the massive head. A woman pops her head out of a window and stares at you intensely. You pick the hammer up awkwardly and show it to Ao. (3) It might be the colony’s vast size or your inability to navigate through the tight hallways however you cannot find any place that sells.

Ao

If batteries are not provided then go buy some for the trip. Get some tools for breaking through doors and walls.
Tim shows Ao his hammer. Then goes of to find food and water as well as some ammo for his gun
Robb accompanies him, being the only other human in the party.

(4) You follow as closely to Tim as you can until he stops abruptly in front of a solid structure wall. Did he get lost ?

Red scrounges around for some batteries and spare ammunition for his sniper. He then meets up with the group and follows them.

(3) After few minutes of snapping from street to street you find yourself frustrated, on a bridge that connects two buildings, watching as two mutts are playing with a red plush of sorts. You manage to find no resources so you backtrack, meeting with Robb and Tim.

Digging the one on top left, it looks like a messianic deer demon.

Wanted to take another shot at the manga-ish style with patterns and tones since I didn't use it for months.

23
The digital clock strikes 20:00 PM and the meeting just ended. A squad formed of four synthetics and two humans marches out of the granite-white building into the empty "street", specifics of the mission are still echoing fresh in their minds :

Quote
Finding resources on the current level has become a tedious task. Considering the problems we had with the mineral manipulators the council has decided that it's best migrate. Do not speak to anyone from the colony about the meaning behind this mission, you are scouts and looking for resources. That's All. Understood ?"

Any encounter with the Senate forces is to be avoided, we've been out of contact with them for way too long and have no intel on their current position. If by any chance you meet them, you have official permission from the council to represent Colony KA-W4RD and it's needs.

Your main mission is the exploration of nearby floors, bottom or upper...your choice. Kennyway Wolf will guide you towards the nearest elevator, you can probably find him at the Firebreather Bar. After that you're on your own. Departure time is 7 AM sharp, please do inform Wolf on your destination before that. He's a hard drinker but freshens up really quickly when needed...Well...May the Machine greet you with a smile.

Colony KA-W4RD is a series of cluttered, decayed buildings that interlock into each other. The road that leads away from the town council spreads out in numerous alleys, each filled to the brim with bars, shops, kiosks, casinos. All you'd expect from a merchant's stop. Somewhere nearby there's a distinct sounds of shouting and welding equipment being used.

You've got some time to burn until departure. Might as well use it.

Roll To Dodge / Roll to (Not) Escape : Data Fragments [TURN 3 : Shots]
« on: April 28, 2015, 05:50:01 am »
The Megastructure sprawls and twists across countless miles, covering both land and sky with cold, lifeless metal : buildings, bridges, empty towers of desperation.
The majority of species has since disappeared off the face of Earth.
The forced sanitary conditions and the nanomachine clouds that suffocate the air...
Everything is under strict control, as the State officials used to say before the so called Fall.
Ragtag groups of people set themselves up in the impressive structures that seemingly never end.
You happen to be part of one of these groups, a population of a hundred or so people occupying a bulky bloc.
You have everything you need : synthetic animals grown in vats, charging stations, water synthesizers...what else ?  A goal ?
The norm is not good enough.
After numerous meetings it was decided that a scouting party is to be established.
You were drafted.

Superimposed levels.

Soulless beings sparingly roaming the white tiles.

A floater is a corpse that was recovered from water (they bloat and float up)

Huh, speaking of bugs. I was chatting with a friend not long ago, the usual stuff. We've been on the internet for almost a decade now, we're pretty jaded in that regard: we've seen floaters, we've seen live suicides, we've seen our fair share of gore and generally disgusting things. He sent me that one gif, the one with the kiddo with his shiny, black hair having a fucking COLONY, no, KINGDOM of head lice scooped up and out his mane with a comb like it was icecream. I stared at my monitor, grabbing my fucking clavicles while hundreds of question stormed my mind : How the fuck did the pest reach such size ? What conditions does that person live in ? How are head lice transmitted ? I don't want to shave my hair. Why do these hellbeasts exist ? Will my children have them ? I don't want children..Can anything live in my hair considering how much I fuck with it ? No, no no. Trauma 2k15.
