I used to have a MAL account, but I stopped updating it about a hundred years ago. I just stick to my enormous spreadsheet for keeping track of when shows air and what's on my backlog of many shows.

It truly is fucking enormous
And also this page, a download queue for shows that I think deserve to be archived in better quality than whatever I already have

I'm going to start marathoning Hayate in a few minutes. Plan to have both seasons done by this time next week. Being unemployed and doing nothing all day helps to power through anime, although in the time that I finish one, there's usually a few more added to the spreadsheet.

In other news, shit's really going down in Steins;Gate as of late.

Hoping that the rest Hanasaku Iroha is as good as this week's. It really started to drop after episode 3, but episode 13 was fantastic.

On further inspection actually, next week's episode is a beach episode. mite b kool

I only like anime a lot... currently watching Nichijou and A-Channel more than anything. Been reading more manga of late than I've been watching anime. >.<

Nichijou is still one of my favorites of the season, and i'm sad to see A-Channel go. Thankfully there's more than enough to replace it next season, Yuru Yuri especially. It's manga was extremely cute, so the anime might be a possible cause of death by moe overload. Those uniforms, hhnnnngngn.

I watched the bluray of it at new years, I thought it was fairly decent. It was the same level of quality as the TV series.

So that's both of the noitaminA slot shows finished this season. Anohana was pretty good, while even on the last episode of C I still had no idea what the fuck was going on.

I never quite got that when, whenever there's a war, it always takes place on the same bizarre island, with the same odd series of events that take place each time, only with slight alterations each time.

In fact, I don't get the metaphor at all. That's just me though.

In other news, I watched Howl's Moving Castle, and Porco Rosso, two more Hayao Miyazaki works added to my list.

Spoiler: Howl's Moving Castle (click to show/hide)

Porco Rosso, wow this is one badass movie. I don't want to spoil anything as I truly enjoyed this one, but at the end I found myself wanting alot more.

If you like Ghibli movies, you might be interested to know that blurays for Karigurashi no Arrietty just got released a few days ago and there are already some good encodes with official subs floating about. I've got it downloaded and plan to watch it tonight.

Just watched Shiki episode 20.5, a bonus OVA from the bluray. It was fantastic, like the rest of the show. I really miss it, it was my favorite story based show of 2010. The blurays look fantastic too, if you can get around the weird character designs for a show of it's caliber.

As for Lucky Star, as an enormous wild raging faggot whose favorite anime are all parodies, comedies or especially cute girls doing cute things, I thought it was fairly decent but nothing special. Pani Poni and SZS do parodies better, while Genshiken explores otaku culture much, much better. The girls were really cute, though, yet not as cute as others. All of this is entirely opinion, however.

Still no mention of Steins;Gate?

Dammit, guys! Am I the only MADDO SCIENTIST here?

I'm watching it, and it's getting progressively better and better. Episode 11 was bordering on Kaiji-levels of tenseness.

Do any of you guys read Yotsuba&?

It's like, therapeutic.

I do. It's wonderful. My favorite anime and manga are always the simple and positive, such as Yotsuba&, Aria, Sketchbook etc

Suite Precure's ED is hypnotic or something. I fall into a trance watching it.

The order for the anime is Higurashi > Kai > Rei > Kira (which isn't out yet).

Rozen Maiden is fine but I will say that it is a rather "all over the place" sort of show.

It can be very silly when it wants to, and it can be very creepishly serious at times as well.

While I personally think the show is at its best when it is in the height of its style... its "comedy" episode is actually downright hillarious and actually one of my favorite episodes (if not my absolute favorite)

The only problem I can give is that

My guess is that they were hoping for a third season. For shows that have a manga with an ongoing story, I prefer no ending to a badly done anime only ending. It's weird that it never did get a third season, considering how popular it became. Not to mention it is the perfect anime to sell merchandise of, being a show about dolls.

In unrelated adorable news, I'm catching up with Suite Precure. I totally forgot about it since I was too busy hurfing a durf over other shit that was airing, plus I decided to marathon Karin for no particular reason.

The story wasn't too interesting for me, but the dolls are really cute (although Hinaichigo largely annoyed the shit out of me). Suiseiseki's antics are quite funny sometimes, too. It was fine to watch but I didn't find it to be anything amazing.

One of the anime I plan to watch next season is 'Morita-san wa Mukuchi'. I checked online to find some info about it, and this is what I got:

Quote
Morita Mayu, a high school girl. She is extremely reticent and her silence and habit of looking at people's eyes straightly sometimes cause misunderstanding. The reason behind it is not because she doesn’t like to talk nor because she has nothing to say. The reason she rarely speaks is due to the fact she thinks too much before speaking, thus losing the timing to speak altogether.

I thought that sounded completely adorable, so I was very pleased to find out it got an OVA two months ago that must of slipped under my radar. I just about died from moe watching said OVA. Mayu is beyond adorable, the OVA largely focused on her thoughts, and it was really well done in my opinion. She's voiced (her thoughts are voiced) by Hanazawa Kana, with the same style of voice as Kanade in Angel Beats or Sora in Sketchbook, and she fits perfectly.

As an enormous fan of slice of life and moe anime, i'm anticipating the shit out of the next season. More Natsume and a proper iDOLM@STER adaptation, that will do just fine.

Would the OVA be enough? Or does it cut to many corners, when recapping the original anime?

I've not got the slightest clue, since I haven't watched the OVA. But from checking, the Fate/Stay Night OVA recap is 2 hours long, which would mean it has a hell of a lot of corners cut from the Fate/Stay Night anime which is over 9 hours long, which already had some corners cut from the VN which can be much longer. I wouldn't recommend it, either watch the 24 episode anime and then the movie, or just play the VN.

I played the VN ages ago and then watched the anime by Deen, and while the anime was still better than most, it was nowhere near the quality of the VN. The movie is quite good though, but you'd need to watch the anime first to understand what was going on.

The prequel, Fate/Zero, is coming in fall, animated by ufotable (the ones behind Kara no Kyoukai). It's based off the light novel written by Urobuchi Gen (he wrote Saya no Uta and Madoka). It's going to be fantastic.
