DF General Discussion / Re: Future of the Fortress: The Development Page

You can just open up another DF.exe, you know... I agree though, Legends in-game would be nice.
I'm afraid that's not the case; a single save can support a fortress, an adventurer, or an active legends view, but not two or more at once. Viewing the legends of a world that has an existing adventurer or player fortress requires copying the save.

Are you sure about that? Unless I'm misunderstanding you, I'm certain that just recently I opened up another .exe file of DF, with the same save, and opened up Legends mode to check the description of a god my dwarf worshipped while the other .exe was running in the background with the fort playing.

Edit: I could have possibly not saved yet first, which I suppose would make sense.

Listening to The Who until 3 in the morning, such fu-*falls asleep*

If only it were that easy, damn it!

Edit: Good lord, now all I can think about is that terrible Pokemon creepypasta I was reading. Were any of them true?

Perhaps.

Is there a dead Japanese schoolgirl under my bed right now?

Perhaps.

Am I going to die because I went back to Lavender Town and stood around listening to the music for a good 30 minutes?

Perhaps - but at least I'll have read some good Pokemon creepypasta before I do! God damn it I need some sleep.

Well, he's supposed to be wearing camouflage, sneaking up on that squirrel there, but I guess it's not as obvious as I originally thought...

Thanks, I'm actually not too happy with the way the magma waterfall looks, it sort of could be mistaken for something the same distance as the entrance to the fort. I would try and fix it, but it's getting pretty late.

I can't wait until the new version comes out, it's going to be awesome to mess around with adventurer mode!

Funny, my fort became a barony with only 1 sane dwarf left...

Real pros take out giant gargoyles by having them fall down their central staircase then getting punched to death anyway!

If you don't mind my asking, how would one get giant gargoyles (or any other critter, for that matter) to fall down their central staircase?
Is it a matter of pushing them? Or luring them into a trap?
I think I just fluked it and it dodged over my central stairwell and fell 10-20 z levels.
Unconscious/stunned (I think it's those two) creatures treat staircases as open space.

There's not much to it, really - just swim. You can use q to check where you are. Or maybe Q. Bah, I can't remember, either of those.

I downloaded and played some of Nehrim, that total-conversion mod for Oblivion. That damn black troll made me piss myself countless times.

Not literally, of course. I was still freaking terrified though, especially when it seemed to come out of nowhere.
