I think it just didn't reach your skin. Are you sure you had its coating on your skin?

I was more thoroughly covered than any of my party members, but they dropped dead while I was fine. in the inventory menu it had every single body part, down even to teeth and digits, covered with the stuff.

I think it can be any biome except oceans and caves, but I'm not sure.

I think frost wyrm breath is bugged... all it did was disintegrate my clothes, and freeze my waterskin solid. no frostbite whatsoever.

I think its because they become coated with the material of the dragon's breath... I just fought a  frost wyrm (Gensis) and half of my party froze to death on the way out of its lair.

  I think what type of stone it is may also factor in, but I have no confirmation on that.

Nothing is changed by type except soils, which have a 0% return rate, and cotton candy, which has 100%.

This is coming out of the center of the galaxy, not the universe. And inside the center of the milky way is a supermassive black hole around which the whole galaxy orbits :D

it's been four months since death, so I think its safe to assume ghosts don't exist. It's possible the ghost texture might just be for corpses.
