The flying silver bolt strikes You in the lower front tooth from behind and the severed part flies off in an arc.

I this a bug or something? how can they shoot at my teeth from behind?
It could also mean that they fired from behind as you looked at them so you were actually facing them as the bolt struck your tooth.

I tried that with the "lady". Her combat skills sucked and she died very quickly. Now the castle stands without any lord or lady :D
Oh I know...better check Legends 1st to see a Leader that actually lasted throughout World-Gen's harshness. I know of a certain Empress who kept on losing her newly born children to monsters attacking their fort, as if her child is monster magnet/trigger and the youngest only surviving because gen already stopped...she's itching for vengeance.

Extra info: You can actually employ people of power who are willing without Dfusion if you remove the [DUTYBOUND] tag in their raws.

Oh, just for confirmation: With the current Dfusion, can I use World leaders AND Historically recognized children, save then and play as them without any "after effects"?

So, my adventurer was killed by some elven bandits. She already got revenge through her spiritual successor, but I can't find the body to er... pay my respects (take her stuff). Did she disappear or am I just not looking hard enough?

If she's still there, is there any way I can speed up the search? I'm thinking of copying my save folder and then making fortresses to look at the stocks screen. Would that work?
Well, where did you die? If you weren't in the bandit camp's "area" then all those stuff along with your body would simply vanish.

Are you sure it was Elven bandits and weren't the Local Elven town border patrols? People tend to confuse the ambushes and such...but my initial statements still stands, if you died somewhere else then you'll never get your stuff back cuz' they simply disintegrated to dust.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: How have you been dying recently?

Seeing as I'm just getting into Adventure mode I'm pretty sure I'm suffering from "NIWID" (No Idea What I'm Doing) Syndrome. AKA I went for a stroll. At night. Alone. With a dress and an iron scimitar in my name.

You can guess how that ended.
Hilarity?

Anyway, I was killed by my custom made Chimera megabeast...by being launched in the air several times & getting smashed by gravity resulting in broken bones & lots'a pain. Then It took a bolt stuck in my arm & stabbed me with it...fun.

My Chimera's have:
- firebreath AND a deadly "gust" attack (basically he can breathe out powerful cave-in dust....at you and anyone within radius, like your whole team. The luckiest one can get is to simply be pushed by it.)
- 2 heads with horns
- 3 tails with poisonous stingers each. Also each tail can grab, choke & throw
- Wings for flying and pincers for pinching your head off
- has innate skills & special attributes like NOPAIN and such

So I guess it passed my test...A new addition to my mad mad worlds.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
It looks like they have a trend.
So funny, yet so wrong...immortalized. I also don't get the title...what's "saucy" about the Balor?

Mmm, it wasn't specifically stated here:
http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/dev.html

But I guess Mounts & such count's it in...though I guess we'll only be limited to simple/basic creatures (Semi/Mega beasts are a no-no) when & if possible.

I asked about edible hands/reaction to make meat :).
Uh...are you guys talking about this?:

[REACTION:EVIL_MEAT]
   [NAME:dorf meat gooood]
   [ADVENTURE_MODE_ENABLED]
[REAGENT:A:1:CORPSEPIECE:NONE:CREATURE_MAT:NONE:NONE][USE_BODY_COMPONENT][UNROTTEN]
   [PRODUCT:100:1:MEAT:NONE:GET_MATERIAL_FROM_REAGENT:A:NONE]
   [SKILL:ALCHEMY]

...Or you need something more specific/detailed/other kind of meat or something?

[EDIT] Oooh, ninja'd. I see....more on cannibalism as is. Pretty sure Toady has some code there that won't let us be too evil in that way anyway. Meh, whatever...I'll worry about it when hunger gets coded in again...

In the meantime I'll be watching the Gaidan OVAs to finish off my DtB fix.
Cool...it's pretty nice and answers some questions (but as this is DtB, it also leaves some more). love the Yin moments...

FUN FACT:  Hei's voice actor also voices the protagonist of Monster who also goes "sexy hobo".

DF Modding / Re: Question about sending creatures flying
« on: December 19, 2010, 08:24:45 pm »
There's a lot of factors needed to be able to make this happen like:
-The weapons overall material (size, weight, etc)
-The weapon users stats, size, weight, etc.
-The target getting hit

Basically, the current version is a bit more "realistic" with all this & more often than not, the most you can do is strike them a tile or two unless you're Giant or Colossus size...even as a Colossus, your punch won't send them flying that far (throwing as something large is another matter...).

sums up today killed a dragon, got jump by Kobolds lost a bunch of men in the process
Should I
A) save scum and try something else saving a 20 folks and em from death
or
B continue on knowing I didn't really care about half those guys and I save with a revived female hammerman and a female human engraver who only there to etch tales in pine wood(statues). which is not a bad trade off.
Whichever brings more interesting results for future "experiments".

A possible problem with this is that in Fortress Mode, the dorf AI would most likely probably do a lot of unnecessary moves...like right now, dorfs usually try to bend/break a Giants arm rather than gouging it's eyes out directly.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Firebreathing Adventurers?
« on: December 19, 2010, 07:24:09 am »
If you want it to freeze them faster, why not set [SPEC_HEAT:1]?
Basic logic/Common sense would say that wouldn't it? True, it would be colder but because it's so low it would also heat up faster than you'd like...If stuck  it will of course freeze but for only a few turns. In the Arena where the temp is rather hot, it changed the items temp completely too quickly & it changed it's original effect from freezing to painfully boiling all the blood of the poor sap and there was bloody smoke and mist everywhere (A world-gen's various areas & weather will of course bring forth different effects/outcomes overall).

It's not a complete failure sure...but still...

^Pretty much the same as my Ice spell but obviously hotter...though I think I overdid mine cuz' I can melt Colossi with enough flamey projectiles. So I left it as is (well, the Acid breath of my Wyrms can also melt Colossi but that's another story).
