All of my dwarves just started running around screaming.

This is an engraving by Fault.  It menaces with spikes of OHSHI-
Engraving of a goatse or something?

Nice artwork Fault, can't help but take notice of the bronze shortsword with the picture of a...zombie carp?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: wooden shields
« on: October 11, 2010, 11:28:38 pm »
It seems that shield material is irrelevant...as as of now they are impenetrable/unbreakable. Although bucklers still have a lower block chance than shields I think...but I guess better quality stone/metal shields are still better for bashing than wooden ones (specially silver?).

Huh...I just had a vision of a dwarf surrounded by Tamed Blue Jays & Squirrels as he skips & sings his way around the fortress interrupting half the population who are forced to join him in an impromptu yet well coriographed dance number...

Anyway, so tamed vermin's pretty much useless? Will cats still attack them?

Also, are there supposed to be some sort of penalties for humans trying to become knife-users? I've killed several animals mostly with a knife, but it won't get more than very low level novice. As as result I'm classified as a wrestler, solely because I was grappled by a lion which shot me up to "novice" wrestler.
Hmm, not really...it's just that weapon skills are slower to learn & level than most because even when the enemy is bigger & stronger than you, you still get the same EXP.

On Topic: Killed a demon & butchered it. I then made an exceptional sword & buckler from it's bones & shell & a nifty backpack from it's scales. Sure it's not as good as some of the stuff in the shops, but it's exotically satisfying & fun to use.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: How would you describe your fortress?

A safety inspectors worst nightmare & an architects wet dream...

Mmm...I guess for most forts you can actually switch one with the other...or a combination of both!

You know what you must do from this point on: that log must become your only weapon besides your own hands.
yeah. thanks for the Misc. Objects User Profession  :D
Unless it's a particularly heavy log...it usually won't do that much hurtin'. But it is true that it's rather satisfying to actually knock out an opponent unconscious with just your fists & odd things.

Is that the thing you get when  'Weapon' passes through Urist McEnemy?
Nope...it's when several factors like a newbie swordsman w/ weak skills + a plain sword of not so good quality just seems unable to cut through someone's clothing (maybe like back then when spider silk seemed to effectively make a lot of sharp stuff glance off...or maybe it still does?).

Not sure if he likes his beard getting suppressed/restrained by the tight helm though...

...is that a large green mountain wall the dwarven fortress? Needs more spikes...

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Upgrades.
« on: October 08, 2010, 12:40:21 am »
Wait, retiring an adventurer in a town for some time upgrades their armor and weapons?
Not sure about the new weapons or armor but they do give you stuff of the town's item quality. Like when my PlayNow! Kobold back then was all naked and retired in a human town...upon starting again, he was actually given Kobold sized clothing from various animal leather by the Townspeople, unrestricted by my original species clothing limitations (shirts, pants, vests, etc).

And what do you mean by the Town getting "bigger"? It improves or raises the towns quality or something?

Now, I'm going to try and throw a Giantess by her finger!  :P
I'm guessing your vampire is pretty huge & powerful to be able to judo throw demons.

Ever try to tackle a cave filled with Giants & Ettins bare handed? It would be a like a fantasy bar brawl.

Everybody was Kung-fu fightin'!

When I am getting chased by a Town of angry torch bearing, pitchfork waving, bloodthirsty humans after beating their children senseless & taking their stuff...there is this one music that resonates from my soul...

...A music so divine, so pure...its very melody & tune show perfectly the very emotion that I feel through this events...

That music...is Yakety Sax...

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Swimming Underwater... Q&A
« on: October 06, 2010, 06:54:06 pm »
Mmm...not really sure. I guess it really all depends on the adventurers stats & skills from swimming to toughness & endurance.

So some test may vary...
