DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your adventure?

Beat up the king to unconsciousness just outside the Castle wall...

...I then climbed up the top of the castle & elbow dropped him from several z-levels from above Pro-wrestling style...

.......I noticed that I simply got stunned & bruised, so I did it again......several times...quite fun, will try on a child next (Haven't tried/checked on just how much I can abuse my body though, I am getting slightly hurt each time).

I'm not too sure but I think the number of companions you can have is a bit bugged right for quite a while now through different versions as is your experience.

Try losing the ones you currently have (as in get them lost in the woods, not kill them) & recruit some new ones...some tests are required for further study...

Swimming in water or covering yourself with snow ain't gonna help ya' to resist the "process".

Play with fire & you get burned...but seeing as this is DF, if you survive the playing phase, they say you're basically fire-proof (But it is said that you lose the "protection" of body fat).

Playing as a wagon deconstructs you as soon as the game begins, right now i'm playing as a cat.
XD, speaking of mods, im gonna start working on a basic sound mod, e.g Pain sounds.
That ought to be interesting...especially deep in the caverns where you get separated with your group and all you could hear are their screams cuz' you can't find them at all...and nercotic syndromes have left you blind...and you spine's broken too...

Yes....the screams.....only the screams...

I than proceeded to go  "banzai" on him with my spear and than... he bit off my brain...

Ehhh... Later he killed another 20 (2 of them being my new adventurers) while STILL BEING IN THE SAME SPOT... God dang it...
It could have rolled or crawled away....but it just reeeeaaaaally liked that particular spot I guess.

Here ya' go:
http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/40d:Adventure_Mode_quick_reference

You're looking for the Combat Preferences. Charging is effective when you want to tackle an enemy & slow them down (like wolves so they won't be able to surround you easily) but it usually won't be effective on bigger or stronger enemies & you'll end up stunned or on the ground instead.

I found out that if you make a adventurer reaction that takes ANYthing and turn it into an axe.
you earn the ability to grab  MAT-breathe form it into an Axe then throw it straight back to the foul creature who used that attack.

I wonder if this means we can make dragonfire shields and axes?
That's pretty nice...just what tags are needed for "anything" regents? Farthest weird stuff I created so far Human muscle backpacks & Elven guts waterskins.

I need someone to draw a axedwarf all decked out in steel in a human tavern with dead bodies everywhere and with a crawling archer in the door way and a bow thro said dwarf's heart
I know this was a typo, but the mental image was too good to pass up...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
And because this is adventure mode, it's quite possible...more impressive if it's a wooden bow.

We've all found that one not a mega beast enemy that refuses to to just die.

Spoiler: Image (click to show/hide)

I've been beating that Pikeman with the table for a good five minutes, fully broken both his arms both of his lungs have several ribs jammed in them and a majority of his internal organs are damaged. All that's done is piss him off.
Sweet. But next time, try using the one in the Grand dining hall, not the one in the kiddy corner where elfy tea parties are held.

kobold-sized metal armor doesn't really make sense (since they technically aren't capable of metalworking either, and their entity definitions only include tunics and loincloths, not actual armor)...
Maybe some have been wearing some shoulder guards roped around his body & called it "armor".

Wait, so if they kept on stealing your glowy blue weapons of death...they'll eventually siege you using them? Interesting...

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Legendary Wrestler...?
« on: September 28, 2010, 12:51:36 am »
So I jumped into the biggest pond I could find to loose him.
Well he didn't jump after me :).
And... I didn't have a skill in swimming...
And... I couldn't get out...
And... I kinda...
drowned...

BUT I WAS SO LEGENDARY AND BADASS!
Kinda' sad when a Legendary warrior can't even dip his toes in the kiddy pool without the risk of water filled lungs related death.

...And I bet even the Colossus was disappointed....

There are some advantages to lying down, namely some attacks can't hit you (I'm not sure which, but I think that includes projectiles), but you're also really slow.
Mmm, I don't think there is any advantage at all lying on the ground. Being prone makes you unable to dodge anything & without a shield, you'll just get beaten, shot up & trampled more easily.

On Topic: Ever tried using a 'Play Now!' Kobold in the slightly older versions? When you start out naked & unarmed? Yeah...a lot of things will go wrong just trying to get at the nearest town...just about everything is bigger than you and most of them are hungry and/or pissed.

Bascially, the bigger the target that you wrestle with, the more experience you get. So trying to headlock a megabeast level-ups those skills to legendary instantly, you suddenly get musclebound & can use a crapload of masterful grapple moves to bring a can of whoop-ass.

But that doesn't mean that you can actually strangle them with ease...they are still bigger and stronger. And if they're feeling smart, they'd just throw you against a wall in breakneck speed...which leads to more than just a broken neck.

« on: September 27, 2010, 12:31:57 am »
it just hard to get a town full of undead humans to work unless someone gets lucky with a seed which ends up flooding the lands with Evil
Is it even possible in this or slightly older versions? Will a town destroyed by megabeast in evil areas turn the fallen undead?

...and yes, I want to see an undead town ruins like the "old days".
