DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Which is the better weapon?

If it survived after the loss of a skull, then you could.
1. Cut one head
2. Butcher & pick up skull
3. ???
4. Profit!

And in corpse related violence: A bigger corpse will of course hurt more because of it's sheer mass. But usually the drop in your speed carrying a dragon corpse often ain't worth it (though admittedly hilarious & fun).

Those are your insane naked bandits, right?

What Bison said...
In one test run of mine, they actually ripped off my pants...but instead of running away with it, they smacked it on my face.

One of my modification in the reactions here resulted in a -human guts short sword-. Interestingly grim but unfortunately it was a somewhat blunt sword sharpness wise...

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: wild vs wild?

I think animals are only hostile toward semi/megabeasts...aside from them, they're all in the same club & share the same hate towards all sentients.

Pretty cool stuff guys. Thanks for some ideas & inspiration...got me making a reaction myself:

I made a reaction that makes a plain throwing knife (custom ammo) into an exploding, super hot, syndrome inducing throwing knife (which like the magic missile reaction must be fired/thrown immediately unless you want to burn and get affected by nasty stuff yourself)

So I guess I'll try to make exploding, necro inducing arrorws/bolts next...

...Wait...can we make an arrow that freezes the target instead? Hmmmm....

More bittersweet than disturbing.  I wrote this up a month or so ago?

I noticed this little 'd' sitting at the gates of that fortress day in and day out.  When I went back into the fortress' history, I discovered that Zulban was a wardog who had been assigned to one of my first military dwarves and one of the first military dwarves killed.  He sat out in front of that gate for 10 years after she got killed.  I'm not sure why always the same spot, but he was always there.  I had no choice but to write that story once I learned who he was.

Wow...nice story...which really seems like Hachiko's reali life story, only in DF:

I predict a siege out of this, and, frankly, I blame Smush. THAT FUCKING GOBLIN.
So he became a vengeful spirit of moats & is now possessing random entities....to scare dwarves from his little spot?

What a weird little Boogie-Gob.

Would a Demon riding a car give it [BUILDINGDESTROYER:2]?

Reading some stuff in Legends...I came across an interesting tale (Unfortunately, I didn't bother to write down names & most relationships):

It started as usual, with a disagreement between a Goblin nation and Dwarven one. The Goblin civ was led by a Demon, and it wanted every dwarf dead.

The brave dwarves fought with such bravery but the Goblin army was indeed formidable as it consisted of goblin warriors as well as kidnapped & brainwashed humans & elves, beating them at every encounter & slowly pushing them back until they were cornered in their own fortress. The dwarves offered peace...the Demon and goblins only wanted more bloodshed.

But surprisingly, the Goblins was unable to to break through their defences even when the dwarves kept on losing more warriors every battle. In time, there was only one left to defend them. This Dwarf defended his home alone for several years, even meeting them head on in the battlefield several times, but was unable to stop the kidnappings of several children, one of them his own. He eventually got a new recruit to join him in but alas, the rookie died in his 1st battle.

This continued for several more years...until that faithful day that the lone defender was finally bested in a duel against a fellow dwarf. The knife twist in the wound was...it was his own son that killed him (and I don't exactly remember if His son ate him or not...I'd rather not remember).

Bob the Dwarven Barbarian has managed to fulfill his goal of collecting a thousand left testicles and burning them in a massive pyre to the one true god, Armok.

...Uhm...though he's pretty humbled by your mad testicle ripping exploits in his name...I'm pretty sure he was somewhat weirded out when you "offered" them to him.

^Do shops even sell quivers? I don't remember ever seeing one  tough...best bet would be to recruit someone who has one & "acquire" theirs when they have an "accident".

...But bags pretty much act the same way right? So what's the point of quivers again?

On topic: Ran away from a Giant Eagle...got cornered in a 3z level cliff & was forced to jump on the Brook below. Ended up badly bruised & unconscious & lost my ability to grasp as well...but I did get away, Eagle probably wasn't that hungry for a Kobold snack anyway.

I walked into the temple of a town I'd never been to before and found six dead priests. The Legends say they all died of old age, but do you believe everything you read? So that's the official story, six bodies in one place, all from 'natural causes'? I should've checked the bodies for lacerations under their robes, maybe bruises around the throat.
Ok...see, that's just getting silly/creepy now. Waaaay to many coincidences & body count keeps on rising, there's foul play indeed! Let's see:

Priest - accidentally stabs himself with a knife...from behind...several times.
Shopkeeper - bled to death when he accidentally slipped and got impaled in his own horse leather bag.
Farmer - common farming accident...several seeds pierced his brain & lungs.

Huh...guess I was wrong.

General Discussion / Re: I like anime, do you like anime?
« on: September 10, 2010, 09:05:28 pm »
Baccano is indeed awesome...but do try to remember that some stuff were altered for the anime version and most of it simply revolves around the "Flying Pussyfoot incident" and the people involved (The whole jumping in different timelines is the same in the novels as well). Personally, I happen to like Vino a lot (but yeah, he's indeed hax/broken in more ways than one) but I can also relate to how bad-ass Lad Russo is (Oh, he gets an nifty artificial arm later on in the novels). As far as I remember is that Jacuzzi Splot and Nice Holystone are still  in the "lovers" phase...but you've seen how slow those couple are.

There are still lot of story from the Light Novels that needs to be done and a lot of them will shed new light to the other characters..if only they'd make a new season already (though the Tvtropes Baccano! page has some extra info & fun read from later & past novels).
