Is the food stockpile on the same level as the starving dwarves?

137
You can have them wear 3 chainmail shirts and 1 breastplate all at the same time.

Yes, but as stated above, I won't have the Adamantine required for that.

I think the point is, go for breastplate since they can only have one. With three chainmail you don't need to worry so much...

Check to make sure that the food isn't all owned by someone.  There's a bug with military uniforms that can sometimes cause military dwarves to claim all the food as their property and starve everyone.  Also make sure you have no burrows or military alerts active.

Yup, that's mine. That one too. Ohh, I'll have that. Ahuh, and that. I'll have that. And that. And that. Now, where's the beer?

In Communist Fortress, goods unload caravans.

GOD DAMN IT.  IT'S NOT COMMUNIST.

Let's face it, polotics don't make sense in real life, what hope do we have thinking about it in ASCII?

Once I nearly starved half my fort when I tried to expand the stairs, they're quite hard to understand sometimes, is the food and drink on the same level? If not, you may not have stairs going up or down to the food, or vice versa.

Isn't it already a socialist society in Dwarf Fortress? This thread is redundant.

It is too bad I can't resist the call.

In Soviet Fortress, you siege goblins.

There is a very large difference between communism and socialism. Dwarf Fortress by default falls into the communist system. No economy, everyone can work in any job labor without prerequisites, all resources are compiled together, etc. There's a thread somewhere in the forums on this.

In Soviet Fortress, task cancels YOU.

Well when there is you and six other people, you don't share things because you beleive the ideology is right, you do it because if you don't you will bloody well die.

Not problems like "Which way should I build this wall from" because that would fall under the perview of your conundrums known as common sense...

On that note, why do people not like Microline? I kinda like it...
You can't like it.  Microline doesn't exist.

Microcline exists.

(Says he who tends to say "silver barb" instead of "sliver barb", although it makes perfect sense that a silver-containing plant would produce black dye, so you see why this particular thinko/typo persists in your present interlocutor's mind...)

Of course Microline exists, you just haven't heard of it because it's so...

Underground.
