Hell yeah doomed elite squad. We just can't help but be retarded.
What? No! We're just brave.
Like.. Maybe... Retardedly brave.

Is there any other kind?

I just had my first siege, but I was confident. Cocky even. I had prepared for this. I was expecting this, so I got every man on station, the walls were lined with marksmen, and the gates were guarded by my militia. I pulled the levers to close the gates, and wait it out.

My gate to the south closed, but my one to the east stayed open. And open. And open.

Turns out I forgot to link the bridge and it's lever. Ah. They all died. So I closed it down using task manager, fortunatly I had saved before with JUST enough time so I repeated this but with a mechanic hastily linking them together, it works no problem then. However, a thief was sighted inside my walls. He was easily taken care of, he must have slipped in just before the south gate closed. Then a Master thief appeared, and started stabbing peasants left right and centre. He was [Eventually] killed when the goblins poured out of the wood works.

Turns out they can move diagonally. They slipped in through a hole in the wall.

Have you also designated where they fire from? You would want it from left to right.

It was a semi-joke from my side, apologies.

Let me rephrase my proposal - let your colony die, switch to Adventure mode, create a demigod character, put all points into Fighter, Spear and Dodge, come to your former embark site, stab the monster into pancreas, stab the monster into lungs, stab the monster into liver, stomp on its head when it falls over, die on some random kobold accident, embark with new colonists on the same site - and voila, problems solved.

You now have your old site minus the monster plus a lot of corpses plus a few months (minus all your carefully nurtured dwarf specialists you might have had in the original fortress) minus kittens, puppies, etc. plus heaps of FUN!!!

Can't go wrong here, that will be 178USD for consultation, thank you, next!

See, Ieb is going about this the right way. Make the most of it, not just mindless slaughter! This is a rare creature, never seen before, that is pure and magical, we should honor this creature for all it's worth, for it is more valuable that anything Dwarf could make. Stick it in a cage and laugh at it.

HOW CUTE! TWO CATS!
NO-ONE TOUCHES THE CATS!

Kittens? Are they ok? I mean, we need leather after all and the bones for training bolts and meat for food, there ARE a lot of forumers...

Don't be silly, I don't use throats to cut. That would just be silly... throat... knife...

UristMcButcher has been struck by a macarbre mood!

Are you kidding with the crossbows?! You have a neighbor and friend! Dig above, make a pit drop and feed him all your goblin visitors--it's a readymade arena complete with pre-scattered bodypart. Plus for Science check if he turns any goblins into himself, nightcreatures do that.
AFAIK - unfortunately they do it only in worldgen.

Just gonna say. Anyone who comes near me with a butcher knife *WILL* be killed.

*Ahem* I use an assortment of knives, is it ok if I use a cleaver?

As it has been mentioned, burrows could be perfect for this, but when new migrants arive it would be a bit of a problem to get them settled if you have burrowless "Merchants" bustling around as well.

As for sieges path finding, I have no clue how it works, but if they spawn at different parts of the map they might change targets.

It would be cool seeing things "Evolve" as you elect a mayor, the baron arives, or one fort or tower is over run.

You could make each fort a mixture of underground and above ground, linked above surface.

I'm afraid to say it's an error sign. But that would be an interesting fort entrance, kind of like the road runner painting a cliff face with a tunnel that he can pass through, but the cayote can't.

A big red X, painted on the side of a mountain [With kitten blood of course] that only Dwarves can pass through, leading into their mountain home.

Wasn't Mana some sort of bread that Mosses managed to summon to feed his people?

Or was it spelled Manna? Either way, Adamantine is now bread! You're mining bread for FUN!

The number of dwarves in game and in the therapist are sometimes different, and the jobs my dwarves are doing are sometimes a little off, but that's mostly with crafting [I think it may be spot on actually, just telling me EXACTLY what they're making and not just "Stone Craft"]

Other than that, it seems fine. And it's really helping me out with knowing who's best for what. I was dismayed when I came back to DF and DT wasn't updated, so cheers! AND WORK FASTER *WHIP*
