Um. Glass is apparently not particularly phased by magma. It crawled out and is headed back into the fort again.

I've been making statues to line the road in, and I like to see what sorts of subjects my mason is focusing on. In addition to a half-dozen or so of my Countess cowering while surrounded with giant roaches - I guess he REALLY doesn't like her - he made this little gem:

Building destroyers also cannot destroy a floor hatch from underneath. Same for constructed floors. But they can be destroyed from the top.

So, it's another 'They stay outside as long as they stay outside' condition applies.

When demons destroyed my fort one dwarf lived for like six months after, on fire and bleeding from everywhere.

It was pretty metal. I hope your fort has the same spirit :)

So yeah, I've ran into what I like to call an adamantine spire,(I don't know what the actual name for this event is) around 4-6 times, basically, it's a vein of adamantine that goes all the way to cavern level 1, or even cavern level 2, or... in one case... http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=61507.0

So yeah, is this a bug? Finding veins that don't stop at the end of the lava sea? And what are these things called? Have you experienced this in the past?
In my experience, adamantine spires in 34.11 routinely break through/into the bottom/lowest of three caverns.

I haven't ever seen a 34.11 vanilla worldgen/embark with a spire grown into the topmost or middle cavern, so if that's what this is, I would love to see it.

In my current fortress, I encountered the top three levels of the spire in the bottom three levels of the third cavern.

So I agree with you.
