I'm thinking either he wears them all stacked on one another, or he has one or more one every available spot on his body.

Or maybe his head is so big that he had to glue 23 crowns together to make one crown big enough for him.

Aw, I died?  I never got to write a journal (eh, actually, I might still do that).  At the next opportunity, I'd like another dwarf.  Preferably another badass soldier (speardwarf, perhaps?), or perhaps a blacksmith, or even just the next available male dwarf.  Just name him GuudeSpelur again, and maybe pretend they're from the same fortress and that name is common there.

Edit: If you have the time, perhaps you should include a secondary megaproject: some sort of uber-memorial to the fallen.  Put engraved slabs with their names, statues, masterwork carvings if you can cast it from obsidian, etc. in it.

Edit 2: Changed my mind.  Name him "EksulentSpelur."  Another option for profession would be engraver.

I feel like reverting would be the better choice for the narrative.  I think it would be more interesting to preserve the original characters for now- the narrative hasn't gone very far beyond "killed some merchants and goblins," and it would be kind of disappointing if the original 7 died out without doing anything really significant.  If we'd died in a blaze of glory that would inspire the rest to fulfill the ocean-fort dream, then I would vote to keep the save.  However, since it was just a dumb mistake, I'm voting for reverting.

Also, sorry if I haven't been participating very much.  I've been kind of busy lately.  I'll try and start my journals tomorrow night or the night after that.

You'd best be careful as to how you dispose of the spiesmerchants.  Having someone just flat-out murder them would cause a loyalty cascade.  So you'd best resort to the much more dwarven method of needlessly complicated traps.

Since you're delaying another day, can I have the last slot?  My forum name is fine, and as for my skills, whatever skill level of mining you think is necessary, as well as a point or two in Woodcutting, Carpentry, and maybe Axedwarf.

Edit: Wait... do Woodcutting and Mining still conflict?

Always make an even number of (gauntlets|gloves|boots|mittens|socks).  If you tell it to make 8 boots, you end up with 4 pairs. :D

No, boots/shoes/socks/etc. and gloves/mittens/gauntlets/etc. are always made in pairs.  One "forge <metal> gauntlets" job will produce a right and left gauntlet, and one "forge <metal> boots" job will produce two boots.

Apparently in one of my forts I embarked close to what used to be a Roc's nest, because I've gotten a couple of engravings of a Roc killing a guy, and then one engraving of some human killing the Roc.

Note to self: when you're a legendary thrower, don't throw things into areas you can't see.  Also, recruiting your band of super-badasses from one fortress is a bad idea.

I genned a new world in .31.19 and decided to check out legends mode.  I saw a dragon that had been killed in year 23, but when I looked at his page it listed him attacking and killing people well after his "death."  I checked some other megabeasts that had died- about half of them were like this as well.  Both conclusions are horrifying.  Either megabeasts aren't registered as dead after they die and can just keep killing, or they can come back as undead and keep killing.  I'll have to go find one in Adventurer mode to check...

I have twice accidentally stumbled upon kobold "towns" while traveling to quest locations. They consist of several levels of a cave, with random stolen trinkets strewn periodically throughout, more valuable as you get deeper. Eventually, you hit the caverns, where the motherload is.  If it's a fairly successful kobold civ, it'll be a literal heap of gems (and I once found a gem knife), covering an entire (accessible) cavern level like an uncomfortable, incredibly shiny carpet.  After that, several of my foes became very, very rich just before they became very, very dead.

Ubernerseth osmot, "Gluttonlucky the Certain Strangenesses", a cougar leather braies

This is a cougar leather braies.  All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality.  It is encrusted with gneiss and encircled with bands of cougar leather, lion leather, cow bone and moonstone.  This object menaces with spikes of iron.  On the item is an image of a wave in iron.

I hope those decorations are on the outside (especially the spikes).  Braies are basically the medieval equivalent of boxer shorts.

Perhaps this artifact is the ultimate male version of the chastity belt?
