Sky fire come, crashing, fear, tree-fire, Burntroots
Hebiscrobo

Gather round, pups, listen well for tales of past give wisdom for tomorrow.  You have heard of Burntroots, set aside for us by Scroni Rainynuts.  She called down her lightning to give a path, burning down a tree to mark where seven adventurers would build.  For what purpose she gave them this place, we will ne'er know, but Hebiscrobo became one of the most treasured myths of our people.

The Story

2
Remember, friends, the stories and tales of old.
When men were men, dwarves were dwarves, and above all, kobolds were bold.
Let us remember fair Ebentijenta
And may our hearths always gurgle.

Ebentijenta
Gurglinghearths

Hello folks!  Some of you have likely seen one of my other kobold camps.  With Kobold Camp now being supported within Masterwork I felt it was a fantastic time to give it another shot.  In the past, I've used versions of KC thrown together on top of the most recent Dwarf Fortress and have hit some snags along the way.  This time I'm quite confident that there should be fewer massive, game-killing bugs (for example, massive bugs combined with necromancers who can see through the ground).

I've decided that given Masterwork adds a bit of difficulty that I would go someplace that at least seems a little bit nicer.  Ebentijenta will be built in a warm forest that is about half Joyous Wilds and half Untamed Wilds.  We've got a very interesting map with a plateau surrounded by a 12 story drop into a river.  I'm somewhat dreading combat related to this sort of space, but that's part of the Fun!

NOTE!  THIS KOBOLD CAMP IS NO LONGER RUNNING!  I AM USING THIS PRE-EXISTING THREAD TO CHECK IF PEOPLE ARE INTERESTED IN A NEW ONE STARTING UP USING MASTERWORK MOD.  I will announce the new thread when it is formed and get things running ASAP! http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=117007.msg3961822#msg3961822 is where the new discussion begins.  Thanks!

Nobody in the camp could remember the Elder Chungotlus ever being a young kobold.  Even the other elders occasionally told stories of him teaching them of the laws of Thlabifis, the stirring war songs of Chlombujrer Rapiddelights, and the wondrous poetry of The Nameless Lady.  That Chungotlus would one day near death had never occurred to any of them.  But there came a day where he did not arrive at the nursery to teach.  The children sought him out and found him still in his furs.

The shaman was called to do her work, but Chungotlus sent her away with a firm reprimand.  “My death has not come, child.  There is no need for herbs or magic,” he barked out with his usual command, but thinner, reedier.  “There are stories in me yet.  The slaughter of Threedlaflradrum.  The conquest of Neldrumdras.  The occurring of Jreengus.  Have you heard the story of Sruchlofisjlufruyus?  Of those flames who burned so bright they could melt the lands with their courage?  Settle in children...  And listen to my story of Nobletongues.”

The other children were gathered and a bucket of water was brought to the failing kobold.  His eyes remained shut until he let out a blustering cough that waggled his moustaches.  “Nobletongues begin as many stories...  With a quest for that greatest pursuit.  Food.”

Sruchlofisjlufruyus

If you are interested in claiming a kobold please post in this thread!  I'll try to keep up with the claimed list and get people their kobolds ASAP!  This post will also have an index that will increase as the story does!  Come join us for a likely bloody, crude, and short kobold community!

Tadlotlindrirajer Dushimus
The Whimsical Jungle of Bones

Steal, Kobold, Steal.
One kobold finds the battlefield,
looks upon the dead,
sells their armor,
now he's selling gold.
-Written in 179 by Valk, Kobold Songwriter

A pleasant breeze blew over the kobold reserve of Treegift.  The camp had expanded of late under the caretaking of the elves who had began it.  Around a campfire sat the newest clutches of kobold pups with the old Historian that none knew as anything but Chungotlus.  His long mustache shook with each of his snores.

"I say we just wake him," muttered a particularly rotund pup as he hefted a stick.

"No, then he won't tell us a story!"

"A story?" came the croaked voice of the Elder Historian as one pale, cataract-filled eye flickered open.  "Yes...  It is best you learn of our past...  Before the elves and before the reserves.  Back when we lived like kobolds.  I will tell you the story of Tadlotlindrirajer Dushimus.

Welcome to a brand new Kobold Camp adventure!  Put away your dreams of a beautiful mountain home filled with wondrous creations and embrace the thrill of living in fear!  Though this is just starting up, I've done a similar play in the past and hope that I can keep it organized, interesting, and Fun.

We are embarking deep in the forest, a savage wild that will surely keep the kobolds on their toes.  If you are interested in being bolded, feel free to click on the Kobold Camp Spreadsheet and choose out a kobold!  If there are no open kobolds, just click on the 'Future Kobolds' Sheet and fill in some info!

Jrusrusrischlifruyin!
Around the campfire sat the village youth with Old Chungotlus the eldest bone-priest.  Chungotlus was everything a bone-priest should be in his deep blue robes, decorated with all manner of stitching, and a mustache that reached nearly to his shoulders.  None knew his age, but some claimed that he had seen as many as thirty five winters.

"Chungotlus?" asked one of the younger pups.  "Tell us the story of Jrusrusrischlifruyin."

"Aaaaaaah, Jrusrusrischlifruyin.  Kingdomsflowers," began the hunched kobold.  A sadness came to his eyes as he wrung his claws together.  "That is a tale that has been passed on for generations.  Listen well children, for in it you will find brave warriors, skilled builders, love, bravery, and all manner of truths and morals."

He cleared his voice and began his recitation.

Despite what the elders had said, there had been little shelter along the road.  What began as a party of thirty had dwindled between deserters and death down to only 7.  Those seven went forth through the heat and the woods until they found a spot that seemed likely.  It was deep in the woods with a fine river, wood in abundance, and for that first night no predators nearby.  They would come to learn that this was not so, but in the beginning it seemed the perfect place.

They set down their packs and gave it a name worthy of glory.  Kingdomsflowers, for the beauty that their little village would create.  The Golden Fangs would erect a camp such as no other kobold tribe in history had done.

Welcome to the budding history of Jrusrusrischlifruyin!  I am using a modified version of Kobold Camp to tell this story and am looking for people to be bolded and give suggestions!  These lives may turn out being rather short lives, but hopefully it will still be amusing!

KOBOLD ROLES ARE CURRENTLY FILLED!  Of course, that doesn't mean that I won't accept a queue if you are interested in being bolded!

DF Modding / Solved! Thanks Knight Otu and Grimlocke
« on: May 22, 2010, 03:24:21 am »
I've looked through some files that I've modified lately, but I haven't been able to figure this one out.  I had a dwarf do an engraving and it came out like this:

Engraved is <nothing> a Udib Athelzaled rendition of a <nothing> image of <nothing>.  The image is the symbol of the Everlasting Boots, a local dwarven government.

For the record, the <nothing>s are actually blank spaces that appear to be where a word should go.  Anyone have any thoughts on why this would be happening?  Thanks so much!
