Wow, its been a while.
Watching MaiHime, pretty good.
Also reading Battle Royale, the novel. Is the movie/manga worth watching/reading?
I actually haven't read any manga yet. What should I start with? (I know that question is total BS.)
Also, deathnote ending was fail.
Also, met a girl who looks just like Misa-Misa.

I am finishing up serial experiements lain.
I am amazed that Lain doesn't have Chuck Norris -esque facts
Lain can decompress an MD5 hash
Lain cools her computers with liquid carbon. It took her a while to figure out how to make the carbon stop turning into diamonds.
Lain thinks machine code is a high level language
Etc.

Question 4: The wiki says about Grass:
Quote
As dwarves and other creatures walk over it, they have a chance (determined by the value of the [GRASSTRAMPLE] token) of eroding it down to the base soil, on which trees and plants cannot grow.
Does this mean that after grass has eroded down to base soil it is impossible to plant crops on it or for it to spontaneously grow a tree? If so, is there a way to fix it? (Such as building something on it and then deconstructing it?)
?

Grass can reappear.

I got bored, so I am advancing the save this morning to spring or summer. Will post new file soon

Edit: Just noticed the cook can weaponsmith. awesome. I am setting up a lava channel, and a well.

Notes:
The mountains that are not volanoes and the fortress contain silver and gold. Silver north, gold south.
I want to plate stuff with electrum, we will see how far I get.

OK, new file is uploaded at the DFFD page. Have fun next player.

I am uploading my save at the beginning of winter, I have played enough for now. Have fun!
I used Phoebus's graphics pack while playing, so if the save doesn't work in regular, which it should, just download the phoebus pack and drop it in their. Its 31.18.

Obok's Notes:
0 - barracks and doorway
+1 - Bedrooms
+2 - Wood Crafts
+3 - Cloth and Leather Crafts
-1 - Farms and storage
-2 - Consumables workshops
-3 - Dining Hall
-4 - Masonry and Stonecraft
Lower floors soaked. No beds. 3 months. I thought we would have made more progress. I need booze.

Zan's Diary:
15th Hematite
Beds, chairs, tables, farms! This place is looking less like a mine and more like a fortress every minute. Now we just need walls that are a little less.... craggy.
I went and looked down the volcano today. There are crabs in it. I am stunned.

20th Felsite
Mistum is already making caskets... so morbid. Tirist has been nice enough to smooth my room though. So slippery :)

28th Malachite
Migrants!
A stoneworker, bonecarver, miller, dyer, and peasant.
Lokum looked unhappy, but he cheered up when he noticed the stoneworker.

12 Sandstone
More migrants. One was a good marksman, so they were told to await the construction of the barracks.  We got a cook better than Olin. He was mad to be relegated to farming.
Lokum has been going on about combat preparedness, but nobody is concerned. Who would attack us? The groundhogs? All the magma crabs are trapped in the vent.
We await the caravan. Etur has prepared a number of shiny things for them. Merchants love shiny things. So does Etur.
15 Felsite
The caravan arrived. We struck into a gold vein in the neighboring mountain to get them even more riches.
The gold was too heavy to trade. We traded gems, stonecraft, some well prepared meals, and a ludicrously decorated crutch worth several thousand urists. We ended up giving up 8000 in items for only 6000, according to Tirist, but we got tons of cloth, leather, weapons, quivers, and gems.

Zan's Diary:
2nd Granite.
This landscape amazes me. As we reach the top of Racebow Stream, we discover a flat plain. Here and there, trees provide pockets of comfortable shade. To our east, two pairs of towering peaks lie. One is mutilated, the top destroyed by a previous volcanic eruption.
Lokum has already taken command of our small party. He claims that he used to be in the military. Watching him hack our wagon to bits, I can believe it.
Lokum: Our wagon is destroyed. Our livelihoods lie dispersed on the ground. We are committed to this expedition... no, this colony.
STRIKE THE EARTH.
In my case, that seems to mean collect some plants for Olin to cook. Not quite as exciting as it sounded, but I am still inspired.

Mistum's Map,
10 Granite.

Just pick somewhere, I think we would all prefer to be starting than screwing around looking for the perfect spawn.

I found a possible location, it has flux, sand, a river, and is near a dark fortress.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Good location, or not?
Sparse trees makes me sadface, but I can live with it. At least no freaking glacier.

Give me dwarf status.

You mean the Dwarves personality/preferences pages? I haven't embarked yet.

EDIT: So, they location of choice is-- Near river, sand, flux, and magma?
Location of choice seems to be EASYMODE. Not sure what to think about that, I havent succeeded before so I suppose it could still be Fun enough.

Give me dwarf status. I want to be a Adequate Carpenter, Competent Appraiser, and Legendary Proficient SwordDwarf.

I want to be the broker of the fort, and though not in charge of the military, I want to be part of it.

I also want to have a high agility rating if possible, and MALE.
Just curious, why would you ever want more than Novice appraiser? Novice gets you pretty much all the benefits, since it lets you sort by value.
