DF Community Games & Stories / Re: A 31.18 Succession game

Count me in please.  I can't really pick a location from that map, but I prefer forests with goblins close by.
I might be interested.
This will be my first succession game, but I would love to give it a go!
Could you first explain how long a turn is?
Unless otherwise stated, a turn is usually a year in game, with a limit of approximately 3-7 days of real time.

Is there a way I can destroy the hundreds of extra bolts on my map and differentiate them from the actual bolts?

Do ambushes and seiges strictly come at 50 and 80 respectively?

Or if I produce enough wealth, and am below the thresh-hold will they come nonetheless?

I believe you need all the requirements, 80 dwarves, 100k created wealth, etc.
Is there a way to modify that for those of us with crappy framerate?

How can I make goblins/megabeasts/seiges come faster/lower pop/wealth? Basically, how can I make combat get hard quickly? I saw some statements about a megabeast cap?
Ok, so I decreased the titan minimum pop and stuff. Does the goblin attacks scale with that, or is there a different way to make sieges appear faster?

I just laughed out loud during the first ep of SAC 2nd gig, which had no humor. Why? Between seasons, I am pretty sure the major grew a cup size. Fan Service expected.

WHOA wait whaa....
I came across this on wikipedia when searching for more ghost in the shell to watch...
Quote
As of 2008, DreamWorks acquired the rights to produce a live-action film adaptation of the original manga with Steven Spielberg. Avi Arad and Steven Paul are confirmed producers; Jamie Moss was originally hired to adapt the manga into a screenplay,[2] but in October 2009 it was announced that Laeta Kalogridis had replaced Moss as writer.[3][4] The live-action film is set to be released in 2011.[5]
I foresee this being mediocre at best... Especially since to pay Spielburg's salary they will have to dumb it down to appeal to the American public. >_<
Yeah, but they acquired the rights because Spielberg wanted them bad as a pet project. Lets hope pet project means not caring about mainstream success. He isn't a terrible director, so the question is how he really cares about the series.

I liked the scab coral just fine, that was a cool idea. But their

That bugged me.

Oh yeah, that was stupid.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Too late, I've been trying to get people to watch this for ages(aka, since the beginning of this thread), and you only showed up when I've finally given up on humanity. You will have to live with the realisation that people who like Texhnolyze always die alone.
This is the end, fare thee well. Goodbye cruel world, etc.

;_;

I guess I already knew that anyway, since pretty much no one has even heard of it. In spite of being done by the same people who did fucking Lain.

I am watching right now. Its fine so far, but nothing stand-out.. Ep. 3 completed.

You must mean Eden of the East. I was being a little overzealous. It's pretty good though, I just think I have nostalgia vision for it because it was broadcast the same time as K-On.
Actually... I meant technolyze. I mean, the story is interesting but not particularly riveting, animation is good but not complete eyecandy, and characters aren't really... appreciated yet. I heard it was Lain with Shotguns, but so far I haven't got hte lain vibe I wants.

The director of Stand Alone Complex went on to do Eden of the East, which is great.
I was going to moan about this show not being great at all, at least when compared to GitS, but then I realised that I'm just a bitter, jaded old geezer, who can't stand most(all?) of the anime he's watched recently.
I think I'll leave the thread now.

My last words are: somebody finally go and watch Texhnolyze, god damnit. It's like GitS, only without the annoying Tachikomas, and with more apocalypse.

Options for me -
Purchase
Hulu - plenty of subs, inc FMAB, Gurren Lagan, Death note, basically popular ones.
Netflix - GITS and Gurren Lagan.
Download
Steam from animeseason.com or animefreak.com - no timelimits.
NOT Megavideo.
Megavideo does not reimburse the publisher, so I might as well download some 720p instead of dealing with time limits and low quality

Yeah, the show is mostly bad for boob-shots.  There's all sorts of things where they keep the camera steady so that Motoko "just happens" to bend over, or so that her face is mostly obscured and you get a nice faceful of ass, waist, upper thighs, and tits.  Even when she's talking.

Of course, the manga is even worse.
In the GITS universe, seatbelts exist only to expose cleavage and cause bouncing. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Nothing to super robotish or staged in Japan.)

Baccano! Might fit the bill. Non-linear storytelling about a bunch of immortals and a monster on a train. Takes place in AMURRICA in the early '30s. Only 16 episodes, solid plot and action. Good anime for someone who hates anime.
Alright, cool. I'll find on t.v. or a torrent or something.
IIRC, its on Hulu. They have a reasonable amount of anime, some of it good. I know they have gurren lagann too. Either that or the one that sounds like baccano, durarara.

Has anyone seen Key the Metal Idol, and is it good? The TVtropes entry sounds interesting.

Latest Panty Stocking episdode... Gainax trolls hard. I am super confused as to what the point of that ep was. Did they just get bored and decide to do what looked like a parody/homage to Death of a Salesman?
