DF Gameplay Questions / Re: healthcare training

My solutions to that soap bug is the following:

a) More chests in hospital, make sure all soap is in the hospital, this prevents erroneous use of soap for self cleaning.
b) In addition to above, I always channel out a ditch by the entrance to my fort, stockpiles, and hospital and fill it to 3/7 water, this will clean your dwarves off, preventing them wanting to clean themselves.
c) Get rid of soap

Hmmm.  I wonder how tricky the timing would be to slaughter an entire siege group with a tall stack of stairs and a single stone-fall trap.

I was just thinking the exact thing. Or better maybe easier to do: Huge stair case to go down into your fort, at the top is a raising bridge in front of the stair case ent, then right after a pressure play. The bridge will constantly fling bodies into the stair case.

Or make a huge stair case with a water source at the top that you can open up. I wonder if the rushing water would slam people around as well

Good training for your docs. I say let it go, I doubt he'll be getting up anytime soon. I am having an issue in my fort where the vamp keeps sucking my legendary warriors dry... Every month, 1 less person shows up to training. Why can't they go after the farmers or some shit.

Just thought of something: does a 'waterfall' of magma give happy thoughts?

Thanks for the help. I was able to get some nice embarks. Fooling around with the world gen, I got a volcano site with clay, an aquifer, shallow and deep metals, and sunberries. But I am mostly seeing tetralame minerals. Is there a way to go back to the ooold style of layer details that the embark screen showed. Instead of it saying shallow metals, it would say what type of layers there were, as well as how many aquifer layers there were.

Volcano and sedimentary layers. So, fire, flux, and iron. How the hell do I find this without spending hours searching? What parameters do I use

I never had an issue with mass pitting, thief or otherwise. You just have to remove their weapon before pitting them to be extra safe. For some reason dwarves have thr balls to drag an enemy out of a cage and pull them somewhere. The only problem ive seen is when your piling so many enemies into a pit of magma that one enemy has an almost chance of escape and it cause everyone to scare off, including the dwarf whose dragging the troll. Ive learned to line the entrance to my pitting room with more cage traps and to keep it near my barrack.

I've noticed my crops were rotting into oblivion and realized that my dwarves weren't using the food stockpiles that were right next to the farms and kitchens.. anyone else notice this?

I wonder if it is because Im using the new version of DF and dropped Phoebes into it.

Im using wheel barrows to transport wood on the surface to a stockpile on the surface that feeds a minecart rail that dumps into my main storage area..

But I noticed wheelbarrows will only carry one piece of wood. Same with stone. It actually makes hauling much longer than its should.. Anyone else notice this?

Well I'm an idiot for not seeing that..

Now how do I amputate myself? I mean there surely must be a way to do it, I spent the last half hour ripping off childrens' limbs with my teeth then throwing them at other people. Theres so much I have yet to discover...
