Primate cyborgs are a great idea, I absolutely love it. (no sarcasm)
However explain to where the error is (name the place and give an explanation, don't just talk about the Animatrix):
a) we assume that there exists an AI complex enough to rival human intelligence. and for the sake of the argument powerful enough that it could run the human body perfectly, if an opportunity presented itself (such as:there's a headless body, with the head removed 30 seconds ago, and the cables already attached to all the necessary nerves). in short it's as powerful as a human brain, even if it's of a different size.
b.1)A Silicone refinement plant pretty much runs itself, except:
it needs source materials and power
it needs human operators to press buttons on a control panel.
it needs repairmen to check it for breaks and fix them.
b.2) same is true for computer assembly plant, robotic arm producing plant, spare part plant, and pretty much every other plant in the developed world.
b.3) modern mining equipment is also more or less automatic, but needs a lot more operators on site.
b.4)humans also drive trucks and do other logistical work.
c)
There is no reason why an AI that is as smart as a human, can't drive a truck by remote control. (except the fact that a driver-less truck is suspicious, which is of no concern on the moon)
Being as smart as a human an AI can follow the same guidelines when pressing buttons on the control panels (in fact it would just send current into the necessary cables, which again is of no importance to our discussion)
the final requirement is a bit tricky, but if we assume that there are reliable enough robotic arms and cameras, It would be possible to make and operate a repair-robots and miner-robots, again remotely controlled.
d)
So, we have the plants necessary to produce every bit of equipment necessary for our continued existence, and mine out the necessary source materials (assuming they are present in the area). I believe that to be a homeostatic system.
addnm) and don't tell me "that's not homeostatic, the mines will run out!", most of the raw materials can be obtained though recycling of outdated or broken-beyond-repair machines. then from loose asteroids, then maybe synthesized from the energy of our sun (life hasn't remained unchanged thoughout history either, you know...)
addnm2)also, I'm not claiming that the human civilization is of no use to this process. (I mean: if it weren't for the humans, there would be no AI, right?) just that after a while it becomes possible to run the whole thing without them and then the system becomes homeostatic.
