DF Gameplay Questions / Problem with Aquifer

Hey I am facing a sudden problem during my application of the http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/v0.34:Double-slit_method for dealing with the aquifer. I was able to secure 4 zeals while digging down. and then the method stopped working and the water started pilling up. I am unsure why this happened.

I keep losing forts to seiges no matter how many I have or how long I train them. Pre hospital df they used to be able to get legendary from training. Right now I just dont know how are you supposed to train or survive sieges.

My dogs need diagnosis I enabled everyone to be able to do diagnosis. I made a hospital zone with beds and tables. I have a chief medical guy.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / I have created a monster !

I was playing around in arena trying to find a way to kill a bronze collosus. The dwarves has full adamantine armor, golden war hammers. 5 of them. the collosus killed one by throwing him at a wall. Then all of sudden killed rest of them when i checked him i realised horror. he wore the full adamantine armor from the dwarves and is using the golden hammmer. he destoried overr 10 men of fire. 100 dwarves and hes now legendry in most fighting abilities . WHAT HAVE I DONE!!!

Hey this is my 1st game and i have a couple of question i would love if someone can answer these questions :

1. militray : They wont sparr no matter what i try i thought it was because of meeting halls but they still wont sparr. I tried removing weapons , making them same weapons.  I tried making barracks alot bigger they just hang around outside. same thing for my marksdwarvs in practise range they barely go there. i made sure thier standing down.they dont do any sparring at all. wont even train thier weapons.
2.Iron: I cant find any iron ore any where at all near me. Ive tried everything to reach somekind of iron ore but no luck. im digging tunnels at all Z levels but to no avail 0 iron ore around.
3. how do i remove an item from construction site?
4.Whats a good embark options for a starting df player?
5. is there a way to deal with cant build furniture on floor?
