Mod Releases / Re: Fantastic Dwarf Fortress (0.2) - Less micro, more stuff!

some way of getting rid of xwornx and XthreadbareX clothes without having to go throught the stockpile menu and assign a dump for each one.

DF Suggestions / Suggestion: clothing stockpiles
« on: September 15, 2013, 10:52:39 pm »
I believe that everyone can agree that dealing with clothing is a micromanagement nightmare. I think a simple solution to this problem is adding a new stockpile type: Clothing. These would separate clothes from the other crafts that dwarves produce and with an option to allow/forbid different states of wear enable a player to mass designate dumping of worn out clothes. This also enable jewelers and metal-smiths to specifically encrust and stud clothing making your dwarves all bedazzled with ice and bling bling!

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Chalice to Armok: GOD OF BLOOD
« on: January 13, 2012, 03:14:34 am »

And so after labouring for low onto 15 years the dwarves of Idenstigaz (Paddledrasps) Have completed their monument to The God Of Blood. With the last of the scaffolding removed and the chalice bowl clear and sealed the dwarves now watch in awe as Armok's Blood pours down to fill it.

This is a Clear Glass Chalice. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is decorated with bands of green glass blocks and menaces with spikes of black bronze. It is studded with silver, gold, black bronze, and rose gold. It is decorated with bands of gold. On it is the artifact adamantine floodgate Umrilarban Gegetsogdol, "Pinescradled the Violet Famines." It is Full of Magma.

This is my first mega-project and I am quite pleased with the results.

I have a save here if anyone is interested in seeing it in all its glory!

I was possessed by some otherworldly entity and all it was saying was: "Construct the Chalice and fill it with MAGMAAAAAA"

I still think that it was NECRO who that voice belonged to...

I have been playing DF on and off for a year and a bit now. I must say that the waste from sieges is a real FPS killer and must be dealt with by the player if the player wishes to have a long lasting game. The current mechanics of hauling are lagging behind some of the other aspects of gameplay IMO. It would be a boon to this game if a dwarf could pick up more than one sock on a hauling job, would it be possible to use backpacks for this?

I have become quite adept at making impenetrable forts as of late, and most of them are capable of sustaining themselves without the need for trade at all, so goblinite is relatively useless.

TL;DR watching one dwarf haul a single loincloth from the battlefield is not ‼FUN‼

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Mega Project: Chalice of Armok: God of Blood
« on: November 25, 2011, 03:25:11 am »
so this fall i started a mega project on my first volcano fortress. It is a bowl constructed out of metal and glass that, once constructed, will be filled with the blood of Armok (read magma).

I have a CMV file of the fortress from the forges up to the top of the thus far constructed chalice that i would like to share any advice on how to share it woudl be welcome.

I will leave you with my MSPaint blueprint:

I think that statues would work well for keeping the Clowns in your crush zone although i have no !!SCIENCE!! to back up this claim other than the fact that trolls love knocking them over.

fill your crush zone with statues and then wait for the clowns to start toppling them then bring the mountain down on their heads.
