Well Silverbeak still stands, almost five years later.

We've created just over 400K in welath and exported about 330K, we've broken 80 dwarves and we have 722 seeds in storage(!).

We've survived three sieges and only lost five dwarves (two very early on as I mentioned a few pages ago.. One during a seige and two babies that were thoughtlessly carried into battle in what I can only assume was an attempt to test a new, somewhat unconventional, type of armor).

My army could be better but its ok, particularly my MarksDwarves.  I'm using Fortress Defense II so I'm sure pain is coming (already seen some signs of hellfire imps).

Until next time..

Second metalsmith 'mood' object:

Okirfesh, "The Elder Wings", an Iron Spear

This is an iron spear.  All crafsdwarfship is of the highest quality.  IT is decorated with vulture bone.  This object is adorned with hanging rings of plume agate and menaces with spikes of chert.  On the item is an image of Nawara Fataltunneled the Murkey Umbra the creature of evil in orn.  Nawara Fataltunneled the Murky Umbra is traveling.  The artwork relates to the wandering of the creature of evil Nawara Fataltunneled the Murky Umbra in the Forest of Vandalizing in the late winter of 8.

Hard core spear, will have to give it to my next captain (somebody who will have to train as a speardwarf I guess..).

Other then that the fort is going swimmingly, have tons of food, tons of drink, well system is up and running, have tons of fuel, a fair amount of iron and silver and decent walls to protect from the outside.  Heck we've already survived one siege (though it was a minor one).

Not really, the undead used to be more threatening (particularly skeletons as they had no organs to destroy so you just had to pound on them forever.. These days however they are pretty tame and more of an annoyance then anything else.

Not saying that other things cannot be useful, they are just less.. Fun.. To each their own.  I gave them to my chief marksdwarf.

Well got my military loaded up and training, got a moody dwarf who claimed my metalsmith's forge (fingers crossed!)

ETA: Rikkirnitom, "The Whiskered Planets", a sliver chain leggings

This is a sliver chain leggings.  All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality.  This object menaces with spikes of silver.

Ok so not the greatest item in the world but hey, far better then a really nice mechanism or something.

The worst is when you are carving out your great dining room and all of a sudden one corner clips into a soil layer.. Blahh.. Different rock types I've learned to accept as an inevitability but soil?!

Well, Silverbeak is back on its feet.  Its walled in so we can hold out (though all that is holding back the potential horde is floodgates so if any building destroyers show up..), we have food (thanks to an Elf Caravan..), and most of our industry is set up.

Now I just need to set up bedrooms and start training up my military (better late then never).

If you go into the military(m) menu then go to equipment(e) you can see what they are equipped with to make sure they have the right weapons, don't forget to equip bolts/arrows in the ammunition(f) menu too and make sure they have access to quivers.

But other then that yea, dwarves always show up as whatever they are best at.

Well the injured dwarf, who was also my armor/metalsmith, succumbed to dehydration after all the water froze and before I could plumb the aquifer...

However, things do seem to be on an even keel again, getting my subfort setup (barracks and main hall), my storage is complete aside from setting up a farm, the caravan brought enough food and drink to last me a little bit.  Nearly got my wall and door (floodgates) constructed so as long as a siege doesn't show up in the next season or so it should be ok.

More badness.. While I breached the aquifer ok there was a huge amount of ice that melted flooding the downwards stairs so I have to work out a way to pump it out, beyond that heavy rainfall keeps it full of water.  Gonna try to drain it back into itself and pump the water out so I can get access to stone and continue building.

So the tally.. I've already had one migrant wave (only two..) and I have one dead, one bedridden from injury (though it doesn't look like it will be permanent), my one access to the lower stone levels is completely flooded.. Yea..

Plagued by misfortune already.. One dwarf dead and one seriously injured following a cave in accident while breaching the aquifer (never had to set up a hospital this early before..) Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come.

Ok, new fort again (was having issues so reinstalled the game, seems to be working now).  Found an area thats half terrifying and half joyous wilds with an aquifer, should be fun.

ETA: Heh.. There is also a second of regular "untamed wilds" as well.. Will this spawn creatures from all three biomes or just from one?

ETA2: Well got an answer, part of one at least, I've seen One Humped Camels and a Zombie fox.

Indeed, its actually one of the primary issues I have with graphics sets like this.. I don't know what it says about me that I have an easier time with the ASCII code then with some letters in text being replaced with pictures but what can I say..

Once they change up the graphics properties and we can have more symbols (which I assume will also fix the text issues) I'll probably give one of these a go.

Are you using any mods? One that comes to mind is Genesis (I think..) Mod that has dwarves that throw fireballs..
