Deathwatch the PnP game is a series too.
But still, that's a nice find.

An RTS that can have as much or as little micromanagement as you want, and for both to be viable strategies.

For example, you could anything from entire armies to just one guy, even where that one guy shoots, and everything in between.
I don't care what setting it is, but it'd be cool if you could set what it is when you start a new singleplayer game, you choose what era, maybe a medieval one, a modern one and a futuristic 'IN SPAAAACE" one. It'd be super special awesome if instead of eras you chose what year it takes place in. Of course, if you start in the medieval era you could go all the way to the futuristic era, completely seamlessly. Bonus points if you're blasting off and colonizing planets when everyone else is still discovering steel.
For super awesome mega ultra bonus points, there could be a preset human race, and a player set number of procedurally generated armies each with their own strengths and weaknesses.
This would be the best game ever, in my opinion.

The singleplayer campaign would not be unlike Medieval 2: Total War in how it's played, but instead of inciting battles with other pieces, you can just scroll down to your army and see them marching closer to the enemy. While being completely seamless.

Don't care much for graphics, but I would prefer it not to be in ASCII. Something like Medieval: Total War (the first game) would be perfect.

Now if humanity could just invent a computer to run it...

Dammit I only got the core book.

I was just checking, because I didn't know if you guys were up to it, or if you wanted to spend another week on your character.

635
Hey, are you guys up for getting together on IRC tomorrow, for a short practice session?
I don't know if I'm doing anything important or not.

You should probably change your rank to Guard (Mech-Wright).

Done and done.
You did it wrong.
It's
Code: [Select]
Career:      Guard (Mech-Wright)
Rank:      Technographer
right now, but should be
Code: [Select]
Career:      Guardsman (Tech Priest)
Rank:      Guard (Mech-Wright)

Other than that, it's fine.

On an unrelated note: Black Crusade is supposed to be coming out this month. If NewsMuffins gets a hold of it I predict many clown encounters.
My claws are rather large and grabby, if I do say so myself.

Quick, someone dig up the dwarven drinking songs thread!

Phantom is right, you should make a Requisition check for that.
Before each mission, the Munitorum clerk makes sure you turn in your ammunition, and gives you three clips for each weapon you have. This doesn't stop you from picking up clips during the mission, though.
You can turn in your LasGun and LasPistol for an AutoGun and Autopistol if you succeed a Requisition check at +20.

You also get rebreathers for free and of Good quality if you're sent into a battlezone that will definitely have gas attacks.

641
What's that? MORE Dark Eldar? Jeez, I thought you'd be sick of those guys by now!

Actually, I was thinking I'd start you guys off on some orks. I probably won't do normal Eldar because of Rape Potential.

I made a little pun there. Teehee.

Is your resolution for both set to 640x560 or whatever it is?
Lowering the resolution really helps.
Also, giving the process a high priority seems to add on a few FPS.

Now, if I may ask, are we in Koronus, Calixis, Jericho, or that Black Crusade place?
I don't know yet. I may just put you in my own system because I don't feel like reading the entire fluff base for a sector.

...So I can modify my melee weapon for free or do I still make the Requisition check?
Since that was the last post on the last page...
And anyway, I assume I'd have to pay like 15 thrones for a can of recaf and 30 for a writing kit?
You still make a Requisition check.
Things like recaf and writing kits you get for free from the other members of your regiment, unless they decide to charge. What I meant by Amasec and Lho-Sticks was contraband, or items that an Imperial Guardsman probably wouldn't have.

I'll use a d6 to decide who has the medicae ability, unless someone buys it.
However, I don't think any career allows you to get medicae at rank 1.

I plan on picking Medicae when I get 200 XP since it's available at Outcast Scum Rank.

How does this system work with the Inquiry and Barter skills?

EDIT: -snipV2-
Why yes, I have been reading up on the Imperial Guard for this.
For Barter, you roll a test, and if you succeed, you add +5 to Requisition for this Req test. FOr each extra degree of success, you add 2 to Req. This test is taken at a -10 difficulty, as the Ministorum clerk has seen your bullshit time and time again.
Inquiry has no effect.

Sorry I haven't responded until now, I've been playing ArmA II with some B12ers.

Just logged off of a very long warfare match that involved the AI surviving multiple airstrikes, tank columns, and a nuke.  Fayrik and Simmura are still going...

This went pretty well, and my computer handled running both a server and client ok, so I'll try to plan another one for next week.

Fayrik and Simmura

D:

Useless whining aside, I had fun. I didn't get to do much because everyone else was flying around in helicopters and jets, and I was Fast Traveling in either a M1A1 TUSK or a LAV-25.
And I don't think the nuke ever landed.
I hope you run this again some time, KG.

Yeah.
You don't need the character generator to get advancements and such. Look through the 'Careers' section of the rulebook, and spend 500 EXP in Guardsmen and 500 EXP in Tech Priest.
Also, you can write your own back story, and your career title should be Guardsman (Tech Priest)
