It was also in the second(?) Humble Bundle.

New humble bundle out. It seems to be ruffling some feathers. People are complaining about the recycled games and the fact steam keys are now a minimum of 5 dollars.
This is going to be the first Humble I skip if nothing else gets added, the games aren't all that impressive and I don't currently have enough money to start saving trees  :-[.

So Napoleonic Wars is on Steam now and is currently more than the compelete pack, 10 dollars for the "dlc".  So what exactly is going on here, wasn't NW a free mod a few days ago?

I always assumed the main inspiration was gargoyles myself.

Alright, thanks for the help. Always had a soft spot for "true" horror games even if they are short fan games. I was worried I was reading through spoilers of in game events or something.

EDIT: After reading a whole bunch of the SCP and finding a working copy of SCP-087 I have to conclude that it's all fucking awesome.

So I'm a little confused about this whole SCP thing. Is it a collection of short horror stories/elements that a few have been made into short games?
After reading about "SCP-087" I wanted to try it out yet I couldn't find a download page where it hasn't been removed  :-\

Containment Breach sounds nice but after going to the website it seems to still be largely unfinished. The trailer was alright but I have to say I laughed when that white thing appeared and seemed to hug the character to death. Which SCP (if any) should I be starting with?

You could technically placate them by killing enough of their population/injurying them that they have no will/ability to fight. The extermination part could just be cleaning up the stragglers.

Derailment in 3, 2, 1 ...
The whole debate about piracy gets rather confusing when you acutally see who owns the rights to the games being sold. It's not uncommon to see big publishers sit on the rights to games and not allow the original artist access to the game/universe he helped to create.

Interplay still currently own the rights to the early Fallout games but after a lengthy legal battle they'll have to hand over the rights in 2013 to Bethesda. This doesn't however mean that the original team that was responsible for Fallout is getting any money from resales of Fallout 1/2/Tactics. To my knowledge the majority of Interplay staff were either made redundant or jumped ship.
The main reason to buy Fallout 1/2/Tactics now is to support your favourite online retailer like GOG or Steam. GOG in particular deserves that money.  ;)

I'm of the opinion that Copyright law needs a massive reformation as it currently does barely anything to protect the artist who made the product and instead protects the big publishers who can already afford to wipe their arse with the Shroud of Turin.
The entertainment industry is failing to keep up with a changing medium, one that allows almost any digital product to be copied and shared endlessly. To maintain a reason to exist, publishers and developers need to accept that piracy exist and stop creating a worse product than the pirates offer with shitty DRM, forced clients, stupidly high prices, price regions and all the other crap. Instead treating their paying consumers with loyality and respect like the majority of all the other industries in the world.

I'm hoping this sudden boom of intrest in Kickstarter and other methods of developers funding themselves without the need of publishers will take off. Hopefully the big publishers will all go jump ship to the consoles (like Ubisoft) untill those find a way to start sinking and they all drown in the ocean of consumer indifference.

Why not link direct to the source?
"Their fist big hit was the incredibly popular Baulder's Gate series, a Diablo style RPG"
I don't think I ever raged harder. I'm sure that was put in just to troll me.

As for a scheming game there isn't really that much that offers it from a "role playing" perspective. There's a couple of sandbox-esce games like Crusader Kings II where you can use scheming and cleaver diplomacy to work your way up the ranks/complete your goals.

If you're looking for something that isn't morally black and white there's a couple things I'd reccomend (although most have already come up):
Early Bioware: already been stated but Planescape Toment is wonderful, as is Baldur's Gate.
The Witcher Series: good cRPG series where nothing is quite as it seems.
Icepick Lodge games: Pathologic and The Void will leave you confused and doubting the concept of morality itself .. if you can keep up with what's happening. :p

EDIT: Forget to mention there's a whole bunch of "paranoia" games. I heard The Ship is meant to be good. Basically you get tasked to kill another player without him/her finding out while you preform mundain actions like eating food and showering on a cruise ship.

It seems the majority of new "Simulator" games are terribly over-priced for such a niche market.
See things like: http://www.greenmangaming.com/games/simulation/woodcutter-simulator/#item-s4

Also like Girlinhat said the Rollercoaster Tycoon games are cheap now adays. I believe it's sold on GOG.com

Nice. But why didn't you just take London yourself? Aren't you allies with Ireland?
Sadly by the time I got there from Italy the Swedes had already landed troops in London.  I also believe I forget to metion Ireland has taken Celtic Brittany.

I decided I'll be trying to stay out of the Frenco-Irish-Swedish conflict as much as possible. Attacking each other only helps Jesus and by proxy me.
I think I'll be [trying to] refrain from playing EU3 in the next week, real life issues and all those boring things, but if I do I'll try and keep you all updated. :)

I'm acutally considering doing this again and making an AAR out of it if it turns out to be viable. It seems like a very good story, shame I'll never get the same luck as Ireland forming and vassalising Austria.

Not that I want to come across as "internet tough guy", but in my OP I mentioned that my laptop struggles to run EU3... though the others might be worth a look, I am not really a fan of the abstracted combat.
My mistake I must of skipped over that part about EU3 somehow. HOI2/Victoria 2 should be lower on the requirements since they have a lot less civs (or so I am to believe). The early Europas are also much less taxing on the system so you could always go with For the Glory or (the terrible) EU: Rome.

Also not to sound like an internet douche but all the games you listed (except DF/TW/RTS) have extremely abstracted combat. The Paradox games are acutally fairly decently detailed when you check things like the flanks, phases and moral, it's slightly less RTD than the Civ games (althought it has it's own dice rolls).

If you're looking for a good netbook/multiplayer game I'll always list Freeciv as a great game.

Europa Universalis III, Victoria II, Hearts of Irons II-III, Crusader Kings II. All Paradox games. Realtime grand srats. that will always test your mind. I'm personally rather found of EU3 but it depends on what time period/how indepth you like your games.

Well they already believe in a magic holy triangle. I suppose a three-headed god wouldn't be that far of a reach ...

Also as an Update, Sweden has taken London from France and now the united Celts have entered a bloody war against Sweden and her allies which is perhaps the best possible outcome for me. This has been the luckiest map ever, God wants me to win. I do pray that Sweden holds onto London so that this stuff keeps happening, forever.

So on my latest map I decided I'll play as the Pope and do crazy shit.
My goal is to create the SHIELD OF FAITH (patent pending). The SHIELD OF FAITH is taking over all the costal provences of Europe and encasing them in a protective shield of PURE JESUS. No heretic or heathen thoughts can get in and any created within the confinds of the SHIELD OF FAITH will be dealt with quickly.

My Progress:
I've already united Italy and land locked Castile.
The North African Arabs are my vassals who worship the one true god.
France hasn't made much headway since I took the southern provences.
Bohemia and most of the HRE has collapsed thanks to a rare vassalisation of a weakened Austria who got back a ton of land by rebels.
England was capped by Ireland who is my current butt buddy, the only thing stopping them forming Brytenwalda is France who have taken London, I'm hoping this keeps them tied up enough so they don't start colonising/out navy me.
I forsee Ireland being my biggest threat since they're going to be the hardest to land lock and they'll be the first ones to colonise. Sweden will be a close second. I'll be waiting for an excuse to take Iceland to slow down their colonial abilities.

My goals:
So my first goal is to try and keep the glorious European master race out of the dirty pagan lands as long as possible and hopefully stop them colonising at all, don't want pagan thoughts coming back to the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth.
I'm unsure what to do with with the Middle East and Asia, they're not Europeans and therefore I'm unsure if they deserve the glory of Jesus. I might just convert Russia (when/if they form) to the one true god and let them spread the faith if the Slavic people choose to do so.
As for the New World I think they're going to be beyond saving. I'll start the Great Inquisition and reduce the native populations to nothing and don't let anyone set foot on that terrible Devil land.

Any recommendations what else I should do with this terribly evil Papal State?
