No everone not a weaponsmith/armorsmith/blacksmith: I am not impressed by what you make, unless it can be wielded as a weapon against the goblins. Again, we need defenses NOW.

Misc. Object Users exist.
...sadly, not as professional soldiers...
A lot of stuff can be used to wield magma...

I have gotten into the habit of simply flooding the entire fortress once and let the annimals wander trough the corridors that way there will be plenty of grass (if you make shure you have a certain fortress style it doesn't allways work).

A troll once smashed a door holding back magma. It started flooding my fortress and I only just managed to wall it up before it reached the central ramps (I don't do stairs).

IN the entity file you can mod out most of the clothing that a race will wear.  I've removed most except armor and some sort of pants for all race except dwarves.

Any effect on survivability? Gbbos have this nasty tendency to die out in world gen for me, so I have stop world gen somewhere around 150 if I want to fight them. Although, maybe I could just give gobbos multiple births...
If that's a problem simply lower the age at which goblins can give birth/otherwise chance the speed at which they reproduce. You might want to do that anyway.

Well there are more variables exported wealth is also important as is the total number of goblins in your world. If you want your next embark to be more goblin filled try to let them reproduce a bit more (at a younger age and with large litter each time you can do this by editing the raws).

Trough you may have been lucky. Not all secretions will spread some seem to disappear before they are spread. If this is the case you are very lucky and only the infected once will die. Go to the health screen to see if you were lucky (if only the badgers are infected and they are still the only once infected your are lucky).

There are multiple ways first up give the snatchers some childeren in will somewhat increase the attacks. Secondly embark next to a goblin settlement thirdly make shure your fort has a very high value and population it will increase the attacks. Lastly you could limit yourself in what you allow yourself for defenses and make the attacks more interesting that way.

That's what happens if you embark near a small stream. It's filled with stones so you have to dig those out before you can do anything with it. Other rivers are larger.

All you need for a cage trap is 1 stone and 1 wood which you can change into a mechanism and a cage. It's really basic material and you might want to invest in it.

Well there have been some people who observed that an egg box outside allows them to breed. So if you embark in year 2 and feed them regularly you can save them.
